Hey man, listen today, if you would have
told me
a few hours ago, hey man, Sean
Strickland took the belt away from
Hamzat Chimaev, held him down for 3
minutes, I would have thought you were
absolutely tripping. This card was
absolutely insane, bro. UFC 328, nothing
but bangers. The story that I think most
people are going to be talking about is
Sean Sean Strickland stealing the show,
winning via split decision. And let's be
honest, no one thought Sean Strickland
was going to win this fight. Yeah, yeah,
you know, he beat Israel Adesanya in his
prime. No one does that. Who does that
to Israel Adesanya? But for real, who's
going to beat a prime Hamzat Chimaev?
Okay? Who's going to do that?
I don't know how Sean Strickland does
it, but when it comes to beating the
best, he just goes Goku mode. And
honestly, there was a few key moments in
that fight. First key moment, I would
say, is making Hamzat Chimaev pull
guard. I don't know if there was an
injury or anything going on, but seeing
Hamzat Chimaev just sit down and just
lay on his back like Charles Oliveira, I
knew something was wrong. Something
shifted right there, right? Sean
Strickland was putting up volume, just
didn't seem like he was just sealing the
deal. There wasn't a lot of like landing
on the punches. There wasn't a big when
he connected. During the fifth round,
Sean Strickland had this like Uchi Mata
attempt that was huge, you know? He was
able to fight back for position when he
got on the cage, he was able to to fight
for the underhooks and push out, get
back up to the feet. And Hamzat Chimaev
was just whiffing. His nose was leaking.
He was bloodied up. And we saw Hamzat
fade a lot during that fight. Strickland
kept on putting on the pace, and he is
the champion yet again in the
middleweight division.
Absolutely
insane. So, let's talk about the co-main
as well. Joshua Van versus Tatsuro
Taira. This was just as crazy, if not
crazier than the main event. This is
Joshua Van's first title defense as a
champion. A lot of people aren't saying
like he really deserves to be holding
that belt, but here we are going against
a formidable opponent opponent in
Tatsuro Taira. And man, I was stressing.
I was stressing because I was like I
have Joshua Van winning this fight, but
Tatsuro Taira and his grappling looked
very very high level, especially in the
first two rounds. Like Joshua Van just
just couldn't do anything. He was on the
ground
just finding out a positions. Van was
fine to get up, but Tatsuro Taira was
just mounting him going to side control.
And it looked very dangerous. Until
Joshua Van drops Tatsuro at the end of I
think I believe round two.
And that's when the shift started right
there. That's when Joshua Van found his
his timing and found his pace and he was
just connecting on Tatsuro over and over
and over again. And it was looking
pretty bad. Like Tatsuro got dropped a
few times.
And it looked like the fight was about
to get about to get stopped. They let it
go.
And going into the third and fourth like
it was a back and forth. Tatsuro Taira
Tatsuro had a crazy triangle attempt
like off his back. Honestly, I thought
he would have had it too. Like he had a
triangle and a armbar at the same time.
And I'm like, oh my gosh, Joshua Van
he's in a lot of danger right here. Then
we go into the fifth round. Joshua Van
still playing the pace on Tatsuro and he
he he drops Tatsuro ripping the body.
But I do think the ref stopped it early.
And I hate to be that guy because um you
know, Joshua Van did get the TKO. He did
put a lot of damage on. I just felt like
the
shots that he had earlier did more than
where the fight was actually stopped.
And I did a post on my Instagram story
to do a poll. Seems like people are kind
of divided on on if it was early or not.
And I think it was. I think if Herb Dean
would have ref'd that fight, they would
have kept on going. It's a championship
fight. It's not like it's just an
exhibition or a three round fight. If if
things get that crazy and is that close,
I think it is best to let the fight run
run out or, you know, have more damage
be done rather than calling it early.
You know, I know it's a tough situation
to be in, especially if you're a
referee. You got adrenaline pumping, but
I do think Tatsuro Taira was very upset
after that stoppage and I do think that
they should have let it go. Uh and see
what it what happened. Let me know what
you guys think before we go on to the
rest of the card because I do think that
fight was stopped early and I wanted
Vanda to win, trust. I don't, you know,
trust, but uh
I do I do want to know what you guys
thought about that.
And then we have some great fights.
Volkov versus Waldo Cortes da Costa. I
don't know why people are saying that
Cortez should have won that fight.
Volkov, he won the early rounds. Like he
was laying a lot of calf kicks. He had
the more volume throughout the fight. 88
strikes compared to 54. Yeah, Waldo had
more, you know, power behind his
punches,
but Volkov connected more and I think
that's what literally just won him the
rounds. There was no takedowns. There
was just significant strikes and volume
and I believe volume uh showed
throughout that fight. Even though I
wanted Cortez da Costa to win, Volkov
ended up getting the dub. Now, Joaquin
Buckley, he got robbed, bro. I don't
know what to say. Like he it was he was
playing his game and we're in Joaquin
Buckley's world and Sean Brady somehow
won.
No, I'm just playing, bro. But like Sean
Brady just completely dominated Joaquin
Buckley. Same type of fight with Usman
and Buckley and Buckley had Usman help
him train for the last year.
I'm a Buckley fan. I'm not saying I
don't like Buckley, bro.
It's just the grappling. The grappling
at this level is just insane. He had to
deal with Sean Brady with submission
attempts, kimuras, guillotines. It's
just a different game and Joaquin
Buckley has to learn how to adapt
before, you know, calling anybody out in
the welterweight division. It's
back-to-back
um
losses like this and it doesn't get much
worse. Besides getting finished, it
doesn't get much worse on the ground.
So,
now shout out Sean Brady for getting the
dub, but Joaquin Buckley, like
I'm interested to see what's what's
going on with that cuz
very, very interesting. King Green on a
three-fight win streak, bro.
Three-fight win streak against Jeremy
Stephens. Yeah, I get it. He's a little
older, but dude, it's freaking Bobby
Green.
He's on a three-fight win streak.
Give him Ilia. I think you just give him
straight to Ilia Topuria. And we see
what what happens there, all right? I
think King Green, great fighter. He's a
little showman, showboat. Plus, he does
the little Triple H thing at the end of
the fights. I think that's a dub. All
right. Auteber Gautier and Azamat Diaz.
Yeah, our boy Azamat, you know, he lost.
I think he he he put up a good fight.
You know, Auteber
hasn't really fought
someone someone that that really gives
him a test, really. And I think if
Auteber fights somebody like a Joe
Pyfer, I'm there for it. Throw it on.
Throw it on. I'm down to see something
like that.
Azamat Diaz is just getting fed freaking
animals, though, bro. Auteber Gautier,
Azamat Diaz, it is it's tough because
Azamat Diaz, he does have the talent. He
does have the of what it takes to be
able to be good in the division, but
Auteber gets another knockout, okay?
This is where my picks start going wrong
throughout the throughout the day. Had
you all Alvarez like for sure. I'm like,
this guy, he's going to get a submission
win.
Movsar just completely dominates
grappling-wise. He ends up getting a
submission, takedown, right into an arm
triangle, and it was a very, very strong
arm triangle cuz you saw all the all his
muscles in his back activated. And it
was wraps from right there.
And then, you know, going down the card,
we you know, I I don't I'm not trying to
brag or anything, but our first our
first six picks
all hit, bro.
Six for six, and then stuff started
getting a little fuzzy. And we got we
got Contender Mix, and we started, you
know, missing out some picks, but Grant
Dawson
great win against Mateusz Rebecki. Good
good opponent. He was a favorite, round
three submission. Few of the uncs got
submissions, which is which is great.
Like Jim Miller. Jim Miller also an unc,
a underdog getting a submission at the
age of 42.
So, his record's going up. I think he
has the most lightweight wins in his in
UFC history and he just racked up
another submission win. He's up there
with Charles Oliveira. So, shout out Jim
Miller. A lot of people didn't really
believe in him, but he got it done.
Roman Kopylov versus Marco Tulio. What a
what a scrap. Kopylov got that dog in
him. He's not going to back down. He was
he was in the he was in the rough for a
little bit, first round. Second round he
ends up dropping Tulio a couple times
and then uh just sealing off the win
with a unanimous decision, which was
which is great. Another underdog that we
took. Uh this fight I absolutely hated,
bro. Sabatini versus William Gomes. What
a boring fight, bro. I had Sabatini
Sabatini winning this fight, but I
wanted Gomes to win.
And the more I watched the fight, I'm
like, "Gomes, please just land something
when it goes comes back to the feet."
Sabatini just kept on spamming holding
this just holding him against the cage,
bro. He just kept on spamming the
takedown, spamming everything else and
it just felt like that that one guy you
go against who just use the same move
over and over and over. He doesn't want
to try anything new, but he still wins.
That's exactly how it felt. So, um I
hated that fight, bro. Got to be
straight up. Uh Susukayev versus
Dejourne Santos.
Susukayev with a I'm not trying to hate,
but, you know, a lackluster performance
against Dejourne Santos. Some someone
that Susukayev should be able to finish
uh fairly quickly as a minus 700
favorite. Susukayev still uh gets a
takedown in the third and lands a
submission, but But did look like, you
know, Susukayev was was struggling just
for a little bit, you know, on the end
of the first round, the beginning of the
second round.
Where
uh Santos was landing a few shots.
Suchakaya was wearing it on his nose,
like his face was really red. And yes,
Suchakaya was going to land a few emotes
here and there. Maybe that's why it
just, you know, kind of rubbed me the
wrong way, but like I said, with the
middleweight division, give Suchakaya
Ateba, and we'll just we'll just see how
it goes right there. And we'll we'll see
who if Suchakaya could prove uh the
people wrong. But that's just my opinion
on that. And Jose Ochoa versus Clayton
Carpenter,
honestly, this should win performance of
the night. Maybe not with Sean
Strickland. Honestly, maybe maybe not
performance of the night, but dude, give
Ochoa a bonus, bro. The striking from
Jose Ochoa was an absolute masterclass.
I haven't seen someone just connect the
combination, switch them up, just being
unpredictable throughout the entire
fight. I got to give it to Clayton
Carpenter, though, cuz he pushed forward
the entire fight, no matter how bloody
he was. He kept on pushing the pace.
Plus, his jiu-jitsu's really good. There
was a few like attempts with leg locks,
and he jumping on Ochoa's back right
away, where it looked pretty dangerous.
But Ochoa, like I said, his striking is
just on another level, bro. And uh man,
this whole this whole card was actually
a banger, bro. So this is why I love the
UFC so much. When when I'm watching
fights like Van versus Tyra, going into
the fifth 2-2, same thing, back-to-back
fights, Hamzat Strickland 2-2 going into
the fifth. It's like this is where all
the marbles are, bro. And you got to
fight you got to see who's going to win.
You could have a hunch, you could you
could have a a feeling that this guy's
going to win, this guy's going to win,
but we really don't know until the the
freaking
it's on the line. And it definitely was
on the line, and Sean Strickland and
Joshua Van are victorious. I feel bad
for Tatsuro Tyra, bro. Like he literally
could have brought Japan or UFC to
Japan, and be the first Japanese UFC
champion. Like that was
that was on the line and Hamzat Chimaev
defending the belt for the first time.
That was on the line as well. Now
there's, you know, a road back to the
belt and I do think Joshua Van fights uh
Alexandre Pantoja
and we'll get that fight soon. I
definitely think that it was definitely
needed. I definitely think it was needed
for Van to win to be able to have that
match-up yet again.
And who I don't know who Strickland
fights, maybe Imavov for the
championship for middleweight, but
all in all, amazing card. Wanted to just
talk to you guys for a little bit. I
feel like I I haven't really done a
reaction in a long time, maybe since
Paddy Pimblett and Gaethje, but I really
want to know you guys' thoughts on this
type of uh this type of card. I had tons
of fun watching it and I feel like these
scraps are are really are really what
life's all about, bro. I really think
so. I feel like you could really tell
who really wants it and who doesn't and
I feel like we're able to see who really
wanted it tonight. So, make sure to
leave a like, subscribe and stay tuned
for more. Love you guys. Be safe. We
out.
Peace.
