What up, boys? We are here with John
Paul Leos Noyani, UFC
fighter/professional
fun haver. Today, we did a cahoot quiz
and we really tested John Paul's
knowledge about himself and a couple
other subjects as well. So, we're going
to get started with the first question.
I think we had like 20. Make sure to
like and subscribe. Let's get the video
started. First question, true or false,
have you seen this movie?
True, true. Okay. Banger of a movie.
>> Yeah. It's It's been a while, but I
remember as a kid it being a banger for
sure. That and uh Karate Kid.
>> Oh, yeah. For sure.
>> Did you watch like uh the original
Karate Kid or was it the
>> No, the original.
>> The originals off.
>> Yeah. Shane kind of reminds me of like
the antagonist in this uh this one,
right? The bad guy.
>> He's a white guy.
>> Yeah. He kind of just looks like he has
the same kind of build, but he was I
mean low key like you could be that guy
as well because like you were that the
guy who trained.
>> I think I'm too nice, bro. I can't be an
antagonist.
>> I mean in the octagon, bro. A little
different, you know.
>> Maybe.
>> Okay. All right. All right. Second
question. What frequency does JPL fight
at? All right. Yeah. 432 Hz,
396 hertz, frequency of violence,
whatever frequency his ADHD selects.
>> Uh, honestly, probably the frequency of
violence.
Um,
yeah,
>> correct answer. Actually, I put I put
the those two. So, that also it's also
testing me how well I know John Paul
because
>> I have to select the correct answers,
you know? So, if I if I get it wrong, I
look kind of dumb. It is what it is.
All right, next question here. All
right. Why was JPL called the lifeguard
as a kid? Okay. He put people to
unconscious and woke them up as a kid.
He was a lifeguard at a local pool. He
was a good swimmer. He looks like David
Hasselhoff.
>> I mean, it's this isn't the full answer,
but it's Yeah, it's the the first one,
the red one.
>> Okay. Okay. Would you like to explain
why it wasn't the not the full answer?
>> Yeah. So, growing up, there was this
program called Junior Lifeguards, and it
was like I mean, as a kid, I remember it
being like a very uh rigorous like
intense kind of uh beach training and
also learning, you know, how the ocean
works, how currents work, and also how
to like save people in the ocean. So, it
was like kind of my cross training
growing up. And I was like very serious
about it. I thought it was like the
coolest thing in the world to be uh an
LA County lifeguard. And honestly, that
it might be part of my retirement plan
one day cuz I would love to just kick it
at the beach all day and, you know, save
people occasionally when they need it.
Um but yeah, so I was very big into
um junior lifeguards and stuff like
that. And then I also did put a lot of
people to sleep and then I would like
lift their legs up and
>> wake them up. So yeah.
>> Is there a specific feeling you you get
once you know someone's unconscious?
>> It's a good feeling. You know, it's it's
kind of a weird thing to say, but it's
definitely a good feeling.
>> It it just means the fight's over, you
know. So,
>> uh, yeah, in my experience, it's always
been a good feeling.
>> Okay. I hope. Yeah. On on that side, it
is for sure. On the other side, not so
much.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Next question. We got four.
Question four. What is John Paul's
professional fighting nickname? Sure you
know this, but you know, for the fans as
well, um, what would you say the correct
answer is?
>> It's Mufasa, but
>> but I did try to change it my last fight
to JPL. Yeah, I tried to change it to
JPL and
>> uh I remember right before I walked out
I saw my like name on the screen and
they kept it as Mufasa and I was like
what?
>> But I I don't know. I kind of been
resonating more with JPL. It's a little
GSP. So it's one of my favorite fighters
of all time.
>> Okay.
>> Um but yeah, for the next one we'll try
again. I guess we'll see what happens.
Maybe
>> when you have tatted on on you, you just
feel like
>> Huh. Okay. All right. I like I like JPL.
JPL's sig as well.
>> Yeah, I might just get JPL here next.
>> Yeah.
>> Oh, where's Nacho's mother from? Oh, my
my fault. We started the next question.
>> Oh, that's a good question.
That's a good question.
It's got to be either the blue or the
green.
I'm going to say I'm going to say Spain.
>> Spain. Final answer.
>> Yeah.
Scandinavia. What?
>> It was from Scandinavia, bro.
>> What?
>> I love that movie. So, once I saw like
you you mentioned you you like sang a
Nacho Libra song. I'm like, bro, this
dude seen How many times have you seen
the movie? I have another Nacho later.
>> Just not enough, bro.
>> It's not enough.
>> Shout out Chono, bro. All right.
>> Shout out.
>> How many continents are there? It's kind
of just a
>> seven.
>> Seven. All right. just to test the ball
a little bit.
>> We're We're still good.
>> Yeah. Yeah. We're still We're doing
great. We're doing great. Okay.
>> Next question. How old was John Paul
when he first started jiu-jitsu?
>> Right out the womb. Six years old, three
years old, 9 years old.
>> Right out the womb, baby.
>> Right out the womb. A lot of people I
hear three a lot. Like every
>> I would say like realistically it's
three. But uh there is a story
a tale, a mystical tale of the umbilical
cord, umbilical cord being wrapped
around my neck as a kid and I almost
died.
>> I was I was defending it. I was
defending it and then the doctor like
rolled my mom over and then I guess I
kind of like escaped.
>> This is a real story.
>> This is a real story. So,
>> oh my god. I've been doing this thing
before before I was even breathing
oxygen.
>> That's pretty sick. Not
>> Yeah,
>> that's pretty sick. Okay. Well, I'm glad
you're here, bro. Glad you follow that.
>> Me, too.
>> Okay. JPL's coffee order in Denmark.
What is my coffee order?
>> Drip coffee from Prologue, an iced
Americano from Next Door Cafe, a cold
brew from Democratic Coffee, or just a
black coffee from Orsa? Definitely uh
Drip from Prologue.
>> Yeah. Okay. Is that your your Was that
your go-to? Little Drip coffee.
>> Yeah, I would say it was between
Prologue and Coffee Collective were the
were some of my go-to spots out there
for sure.
>> Okay. Out there in the in the rain or
probably biking over there, right? Yep.
Yep. You guys didn't know JP, you know,
had some some good training out there in
uh Denmark.
>> What was the of JPL's UFC debut? A draw,
a unanimous decision, first round
knockout, or a split decision win?
>> I think it was unanimous decision win.
>> I thought so as well, right? I think
they just got it wrong.
>> Imagine if it's the correct answer.
No. Ah,
>> what were your thoughts? Um, just on
that first fight just a little bit if we
could get a little
>> first fight weigh in face off. No, no
shaking of the hand. Like what was what
was the deal there?
>> I mean, he said he didn't see my hand. I
feel like he did.
And that was that. And then
>> he didn't watch the podcast.
>> Huh?
>> He didn't watch the podcast.
>> Um,
>> I want to shake your hand. Where is that
from?
>> No, I don't think so.
>> I don't think so. Maybe he did.
>> Maybe he did watch it. He was trying to
get in my head.
>> But uh No, it was it was a good fight.
You know, I think he's a tough guy. He's
a veteran.
He's fought a lot of really tough guys.
And
um it was a tough first fight. You know,
feel good that I I got the the nod. kind
of got the win, but I do feel like it
was more unanimous than it was a split.
But that being said, you know, he
definitely had some good moments in the
fight. So, you know, that's why you
shouldn't leave it in the judge's hands
and I'm working on that.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Nice. Nice. Next question. We are
on question 10. Okay. What do the tally
marks mean? You have a tattoo of some
tally marks right here. What they mean?
Are the number of ex-girlfriends
Number of opponents defeated, number of
blueberry cheesecakes consumed or to
keep track of time.
Uh, those are fine. Um, they're the
number of opponents. It's It's just my
total number of opponents ever, wins and
losses.
>> Wow. Okay. See, I didn't know that. I
wasn't like so
beautiful.
>> I think like every battle, win or loss,
is always important to me in my career.
I' I've been shaped more by my losses
than my wins. So, you know, they're all
just as important. So, I just tally them
all, you know.
>> Nice. That's pretty sick.
>> Mhm. All right. Next question we got.
Let's see. Whose chips did they steal?
Another Nacho Libre question, right? So,
did they steal the children's chips, the
church's chips, the Lord's chips, or
Choncho's chips?
>> Stole the Lord's chips.
>> The Lord's chips,
>> dude. Nacho Libre. Is there any other
movies that you like uh you've seen a
lot of? I feel like Nacho Libre is
definitely up there for me, dude. Like
my favorite movies like Kung Fu Panda
and
>> uh Nacho Libre are up there for me, bro.
>> Yeah, for me, I'd say Nacho Libre. Um,
and Step Brothers. Step Brothers is a
big one for me. Uh,
>> guacamole.
>> Huh?
>> I say you like guacamole.
>> I don't remember that one.
>> The bed breaks.
>> So much room for extra extra care
activities.
>> So, we got Nacho, step brothers. Any
others that that ring a bell or kind of
just No,
>> those those shaped my childhood. Okay,
sick. That's That's cool. All right,
we're up on question 12. What martial
art philosophy did Bruce Lee create?
Wing Chun, Jundo, Shotokan, or Judo?
>> Whoa.
I don't really know. I'm I'm kind of
leaning towards J Kundo.
>> Really?
>> I think so.
>> Yeah.
>> The other ones Yeah. Yeah. The other
ones feel like they've been around for
forever. This is like a new name.
But yeah, this is the way of the
intercepting fist. I feel like uh Bruce
Lee has a I feel like he's like a huge
um part of mixed martial arts as a
whole. Just adapting all different types
of disciplines and kind of mixing
everything together. Something like JP
like JP knows a few of those few of
those things. You know what I mean?
>> Definitely.
>> All right. Who are these people?
UFC welterweights, two homeless people,
loving couple.
Phil's parents.
>> These are Phil Ro's parents.
>> What made you say that? Like what was
like I'm going just say this right now.
>> I don't know. It just came to mind in
the moment. Needed to be said
>> apparently cuz I feel like once you're
in that fighting mode, you're kind of
like in a different spot. So if you was
like this Phil's dad just fought, I feel
like that was
>> adrenaline's pumping. Things are going
to be said, you know.
Indeed. So, yeah, those are Field Roll's
parents.
>> Yeah. Shout out.
>> Did he change his his uh his nickname? I
thought it was uh the the was it Korean
Tyson, but they had announced him as
technical.
>> They they changed his name and not
yours. Like, what's
>> I guess so, bro.
Still out here getting the short end of
the stick.
>> Not for long. Here we go. Question 14.
How quickly did he win on Contender
Series? How long was the fight? A minute
4 seconds? A minute 8 seconds? a minute
45 seconds or a minute 29 seconds.
>> Uh,
we're at 401 right now.
>> Yeah,
>> he looks like he's about to get head
kicked.
So, I'm going to say a minute and 8
seconds.
>> I don't actually I don't actually know.
Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. I try to like get a little close,
you know. Nice. That was a crazy type of
type of thing. You mentioned at other
interviews as well that you were in that
same spot before on another fight. You
kind of paused for a little bit and this
one
you really capitalized off that which
was had to
>> pretty sick to see.
>> Like when you're fighting do you have
like thoughts or is it just just action?
Like are you like oh [ __ ] like are you
able to think or no?
>> Yeah, I think I have moments of like
clarity but a lot of the times I'm just
kind of in a flow state you know. Um,
but I I want to like be able to balance
that a little bit more and have more
more of those clarity moments, but I
feel like that comes with experience.
So, I think that'll come with time.
>> Gotcha. Gotcha. All right. Next
question. What was JP's favorite bakery
to go to in Denmark?
Juno. Anderson Mard. Anderson Bakery.
Parin.
>> Juno for sure.
>> Juno.
any stories that come to mind when you
when you think of this this spot right
here?
>> No, it's just it's one of like the most
renowned bakeries in the entire world
and I was out there living in
Copenhagen. So, uh after
>> Uhhuh.
>> It's probably hard to get into, right?
>> Yeah. There's always like a line out the
door. So after training and stuff like
that, we would we would go there and you
know get some coffee and have the pastry
that was on the screen right there. It's
a uh cardamom roll.
>> Yeah.
>> Um but yeah, some of the best pastries
in the world. And when you're like
cutting weight or in training camp,
those are the things you really look
forward to, you know,
>> for sure. Is there anything that comes
close over here in the States or not? Or
is this the next level?
>> Not even close.
>> Oh my gosh.
>> Not even close.
>> I have to go to Denmark. Yeah.
>> All right. True or false? JPO and Mighty
Mouse hit a suplex armbar on the same
night.
>> That's true.
>> True story. No way.
>> It's crazy. He definitely hit it more
clean than I did, but it was Mine was
close enough.
>> I mean, on the same day, though.
>> Yeah, it is crazy. Shout out to the
goat.
>> They call it the I think he calls it the
mighty whisbar now, but that's a
legendary legend.
>> Yeah, mighty whisbar.
>> All right. All right. I he kind of
coined it before you, but maybe I'm just
trying to let the people know.
>> I might have to fight for it here. All
right. Next question. True or false?
John Paul previously competed at
lightweight.
>> True.
>> True.
That's That looked like a tough cut,
bro. I'm not going to lie.
>> Yeah.
I thought about putting a picture make
it look more more obvious but the 155 JP
look different from Waltway JP
>> it's completely different person it's
like a white walker
>> the hell is a white walker is that like
a ghost
>> it's like a it's basically a zombie from
Game of Thrones
>> yeah I don't I don't know Game of
Thrones ball like that but yeah it just
seemed like I mean you see we' see
Connor cut down and he just looked like
a freaking he looked insane
Did you feel like that
>> mentally was just uh tough as well?
>> Oh, for sure, 100%. I still don't know
how some of these guys do it. Um, you
know, I'm definitely taking my chances a
little bit more being a smaller
welterweight, but
>> I'm I'm able to enjoy the process. you
know, I'm able to enjoy my life outside
of training in camp and it just makes it
a little bit more enjoyable and I feel
like I'll be able to do it for longer
and I'm happy while I'm doing it. So,
>> uh, you know, there's still every now
and then thoughts of like, ah, should I
go back down? But the reality is is I've
forgotten how hard it was to get down
there. And it's not even that it's hard,
you know, cuz I can do hard things. It's
more so it's just not healthy for me,
>> right? I mean, I'm sure you know
yourself best, you know. So,
>> yeah,
>> that's I maybe some people didn't know,
but you you have competed at lightweight
before.
>> Yeah.
>> All right. Who was his originally
scheduled UFC debut opponent? Bill Row,
Austin Vander, Camaro man, or Jack
Congden?
>> It was Austin Vander.
>> Yeah. So, that was the first scheduled
opponent. Oh [ __ ] I I failed there. I
was supposed You got the answer right. I
just didn't answer it in time. But um
how was it adjusting to that knowing
that um you're preparing for your UFC
debut? Probably one of the biggest
moments in your life at that point and
they're like, "Yeah, uh you're find
somebody else who's like 6'4" in a
completely different style.
>> Yeah. Um
I I found out about it like right after
one of my training sessions. my manager,
Jason House, he he called me, was like,
"Austin's out." Like, you know, we're
looking for somebody else. I was like,
"All right, you know, bet." But I think
more than anything, I was just scared
that I wasn't going to get a fight.
>> Uh, so once I got the Phil roll call, I
was like, "All right, like, yeah, let's
do this." Uh, but in terms of like the
preparation, I feel like I'm good at
fighting tall guys. Like I I know some
people are kind of scared of that just
because the frame or whatever, but I've
had a lot of experience fighting guys a
lot taller than me,
>> so I don't really mind it too much. Um,
so yeah, I felt good about it.
>> Nice. And Phil Ro is tall. Like I've met
him in person. Like damn,
>> he's huge.
>> Yeah. True or false? Does JP like the
Garin memes?
>> True.
>> True. Is there any that you don't like?
Uh, were you like, "Not yet. Not yet."
>> Really?
>> I mean, like every day there's like new
like
>> they're hilarious.
>> What?
>> I want to give a shout out to Garin
Yuri. Um,
>> yeah.
>> I never I I've just met him through
Instagram, but he's like the one who
like makes a lot of the JPL memes.
>> Yeah.
>> What a great idea. Cuz like you can go
on IG and you just look at the comments
and you just got a bunch of J just Paul
comments.
>> Yeah. Yeah, I think it's huge. Also, I
made a
>> Oh, yeah. Go ahead.
>> Uh, I forgot.
>> You said he uh like it was a G and Yuri
if he like reached out to you or
anything.
>> Yeah. No. Oh, yeah. Yeah. No, I remember
a lot of people think I'm making them of
myself.
And I'm like, bro, like I'm not making
them myself. I I don't have the skills
or the capabilities to do that. I'm I'm
lowkey, you know? Like, I don't know how
to make memes. So, uh, yeah, keep them
coming. I I actually just saw he just
made a bunch more on Instagram. There's
some funny ones on there. So,
>> yeah. So, shout shout out G and Yuri.
And yeah, I mean, if you did make them,
that's kind of like a genius play just
because I feel like fans were always on
social. So, it's just
>> What if What if I am a Gan Yuri?
>> I've actually done a YouTube episode
with him and I saw his face.
>> Okay.
>> I've never seen his face.
>> Never seen his face.
>> Yeah, he's he's cool, bro. He's a He's a
cool guy. We did a tier list of like who
who what fighters will we trust during a
zombie apocalypse.
>> Ah,
>> and that was You're up there. You're up.
We were like, "Yeah, we trust this guy."
Like he seems tapped in.
>> That would be good. That would be good.
>> Off topic question. Who would you rather
be with during a zombie apocalypse from
the Cobra team? Like who who would you
>> team?
>> Yeah. Like the longest?
>> Uh
uh Jonathan.
Jonathan or Aussie? Shane Shane and
Bruno couldn't. No, they're not. No.
>> No. Jonathan or Aussie are the ones that
I would trust for sure.
>> Okay. Sick. I'm sure they would have
like different views on that, but I just
>> No.
>> Okay.
>> Maybe Bruno, but uh No. Shane Shane
would probably say he would trust either
me or Jonathan. And then Azie would
definitely say me, maybe Jonathan.
But yeah, no, Shane and Shane and Bruno
are gonna be the ones that like we're
protecting, you know? They're they're
not they don't get guns. They don't get
anything. They just
>> liability is what you're saying.
>> They carry the gear. That's about it.
Yeah. 100%.
>> All right.
>> All right. This is the last question.
Which martial art is his primary base?
Wrestling, Muay Thai, jiu-jitsu, or
boxing?
>> Uh, jiu-jitsu.
>> Yeah, jiu-jitsu.
>> All right, cool. That was that was a
quiz. And then, um, I do have like, uh,
like some rapid fire or maybe not rapid
fire questions, but questions I got from
fans as well. So, if you got enough
time. Yeah. Um, from Louis from MMA
Spear, shout out MMA Spear. If J if JP
was a breakfast food, what would he be?
Probably pan like chocolate chip
pancakes with some syrup.
>> With some syrup.
>> Yeah.
>> I I think that's that's a good uh Why
why chocolate chip pancakes? So, like
out of all the foods, like does that
describe you?
>> Sounds good.
>> Okay. Okay. Okay.
>> All right. Here's a question from me. If
a song was playing during one of your
fights, what song would be playing in
the background? I go hard in the
[ __ ] paint.
>> You gonna finish it or?
>> No.
>> Okay.
>> Can't.
>> I think it'll be good for a edit low
key. I might
>> probably I'm not saying it though. I
can't.
>> Okay. Okay. I I understand. I
understand.
>> Yeah.
>> What's All right. This one's from my
pops. So, uh he had a few. He said,
"What's the weirdest thing you ever ever
convinced yourself was a good idea?
It's the weirdest thing I ever convinced
myself was a good idea.
Uh, probably fighting,
honestly. Probably fighting. I don't
know why I do this.
>> Let's just fight other people and have
everybody watch. That sounds
>> way too much stress. Way too much uh
like on the line all the time, you know,
and uh yeah, it's just it's scary. It's
only fun after in my opinion and during,
you know, but like before, oh my god, so
much stress.
>> Yeah, I'm getting stressed out just
thinking about that. Well, here's like a
related question to that or a good
followup is like if you had to swap jobs
with someone for a day, who would you
choose and how badly would you mess it
up?
>> Cover shop. Yeah. I think
>> um
first thing that comes to mind is maybe
like a like a singer or like a rapper,
you know?
>> I I specifically
>> I would like to be up there, you know,
just like
>> I'd probably mess up the lyrics 100%
because I'm not very good at remembering
lyrics besides the Nacho Libre song. But
uh yeah, that's my answer.
>> Okay. a rapper and and no specific one
specific one or just just a rapper in
general.
>> Riff Raff
want a Ferrari. His his freestyles are
next level, bro. Riff's got some good
good freestyles probably. So, next
question I got. If your search history
was read out loud at dinner, what entry
would you be most worried about?
>> Probably my opponent's topology.
valid. That doesn't seem like
>> lots of lots of typologies on my search
history.
>> When you compete in in jiu-jitsu, did
you like look up like their opponent's
like compet stuff or
>> No, just just
>> I just I just leave my opponent's like
typology on my browser so every time I
look something up, I see it and then I
get scared.
>> Yeah.
>> And then it reminds me to lock in.
>> Yeah. It's kind of like forcing you,
right? I mean, that's the thing with
fighting. It's like you you can't really
enjoy like you could enjoy free time to
an extent, but like you feel like oh
[ __ ] like maybe the other guy's training
I'm not or something like that.
>> Yeah,
>> that's tough topology. I thought it was
going to be a little more like on the
crazy end, but that's not too bad.
That's not too bad.
>> All right. Um
>> I got I got time for one more.
>> Okay, me lock in here.
>> Yeah,
>> lock in.
Okay. So, you gave a shout out to
someone at the very end of a podcast. Do
you remember who you gave that shout out
to?
>> It was It was a a Y2K podcast.
>> My mom.
>> No.
>> No.
>> I don't know.
Shout out to
God.
>> It's my my brother. Do you do you
remember his name or no?
>> You're Alonzo and
I don't remember. Be honest.
What's his name?
>> We
>> You know what I was You know what I was
thinking about
>> is that if you were to have a walk out
song, it would have to be Rack City.
>> Get it in the morning like Alonzo.
>> Yeah. Head honcho.
Wear a poncho.
>> I would have to uh I I I remember like
being in class one time. He's like,
"Bro, you're in a Titus song." I was
just like, "Yeah, that's hardlex.
That's a flex for
>> that is a flex low key. Oh yeah. Well, I
appreciate it. I appreciate you jump
just to get, you know, your your uh some
some info about you. You know, a lot of
people probably just like see all the
memes, see all the
>> and uh you know, I just want to thank
you for coming on the the podcast. And
uh did last question. I know you said
you had one more, but just a smaller one
is like when I I made I made a edit and
it went viral on Tik Tok. Like do do
those things like affect you before you
get into a fight? Just seeing like
something go viral right before
>> you perform? No.
>> No. I don't like really I think it's
cool, you know, like I think it's cool
people people like that. It's
>> uh you made some good ones, you know, so
I I think that's always cool. But no, it
doesn't get to me. Not at all.
>> Okay.
I just I just I like damn this like
>> this is full blowing up, bro. I'm like
this is freaking sick. I just like just
seeing all the all the people get behind
you and I think it's sick and that's why
I kind of want to
>> It is really cool.
>> Yeah. So, shout out to you guys. Shout
out to all the fans. If you guys are new
to the channel, like, subscribe.
>> JP, hopefully there's fight news soon.
This is the from his words, he's the the
next Justin Gachi.
>> All right.
>> All right, guys. Thank you so much.
