on this two episode special of the
mighty journey.
>> There he is.
>> The goat is here. What's up?
>> See, this is why GSP is one of the
greatest of all time, right? Ain't
nobody in the world that mixed martial
arts doing this.
>> Put down a little bit.
>> Oh god. Come on. COME.
>> Come on. OH, YOU KNOW
>> MY EYES are already tired. [music]
>> I'm trying to weaken him so I can beat
him in the video game, you know. So
don't tell him. Oh, he heard me.
[laughter]
Oh no.
>> No, you're not.
What's going on, guys? Welcome to a
special edition of the mighty journey.
We had to travel from all the way from
Seattle, Washington, all the way to the
freezing temperatures of Montreal,
Quebec, Canada. And there's one athlete
that lives up there that I've always
been a big fan of, and that is George
Rush St. Pierre.
Now, for you young casual watchers who
don't do the the research on the history
of mixed martial arts, let let me break
you down what GSP has been able to
accomplish in his career.
Now, GSP has won 13 world titles in the
UFC. He's one ahead of your boy. He's
also a welterweight champion and he was
also the middleweight champion. He was
known for coming out as throwing a
beautiful Superman jab down [music] to a
low kick. He even beat some of the best
wrestlers in mixed martial arts even
though he didn't have a wrestling
background. Now guys, when it [music]
comes to the greatest wrestler of all
time across all organizations in all of
mixed martial arts, everybody knows when
they say GSP, there is no other name
that comes in close to George Rush St.
Pierre.
We get in Montreal and we go directly to
GSP's house. He lives in a nice suburbs.
We get out and we knock on the door and
the garage door opens and of course GSP
is standing there [music] waiting for us
with a big beautiful smile.
>> There he is.
>> The goat is here. What's up?
>> You the goat.
>> No. No. What's up, goat? Goat.
[laughter]
>> Good. Good. Good to see you again.
>> Come in. It's cold. Come in.
>> Zimitress. You're You're fine. You don't
want one?
>> I don't drink coffee. I drink matcha.
>> Oh, okay. Really? Yeah.
>> This man loves dinosaurs.
>> Coffee? It's like it's a drug, you know?
You get addicted to that. So,
>> what's your coffee order? [snorts]
>> I like cappuccino.
That's what I'm doing right now. A good
capuccino. What do you think of the
house?
>> Oh, it's beautiful.
>> It's like I mean Destiny style like the
modern mixed with uh you know very
>> uh Vogue stuff that's like timeless
pieces. That's one thing like I haven't
gotten yet in my house is like art like
artwork to display
>> like even that art's beautiful then
>> I like that over there. And I think the
cool thing is like to ask him like what
are what are these pieces symbolized
like why why do you choose this piece of
art to display instead of this one or
what not.
>> Let me show you something cool. I don't
know if you ever see this.
>> This is a this is not in the dinosaurs
time. This is much later. It's megalodon
megalodon.
>> Look how sharp it is.
>> Like you could literally
>> could you imagine
>> stab someone. It used to feed on on
prehistoric whales.
>> Wow. It's like much bigger than a modern
day great whites.
>> Yeah, my son, he's really into reptiles
and uh and he wasn't he didn't really
get into dinosaurs until Jurassic Park
came around.
>> I don't like what they did with the
franchise now. It's like dinosaurs are
not scary enough or not good enough.
They invent monsters. I sort of dis
dislike that idea, you know.
>> Yeah.
>> Maybe once with the Indominus Rex was
cool, but then come on, man.
>> What do you think about the big-headed
one? That one that has like the big
head.
>> Yeah. What is this? It's they made a
monster out of it, you know. It's great.
Oh, look at this. I forgot to to show
you this. Okay, these one are not real
are cast, but these are the three
biggest predatory animal that that that
walk on land.
>> The Spinosaurus.
>> Spinosaurus. These two are real are real
Spinosaurus tooth. But they know it was
probably semiaquatic.
>> Okay. Okay.
>> And this is a gigantosaurus. If you
watch, I think it not the last Jurassic,
but the one before. Gigantosaurus used
to live in in South America.
>> Wow.
>> It was just as big as Tyrannosaurus R.
And this is a T-Rex.
>> Wow.
>> So, these are a cast you see.
Giggonatosaurus used a different tactic.
>> Was a little bit more like a pyanos
because he was hunting um soropods. You
know, the long neck dinosaurs.
>> He used to bite and bite and and
probably team up on on sorapods. That's
why you see his teeth
>> more sharp dagger.
>> Yeah. Yeah. To to to to to take some
flesh out.
>> Look at T-Rex. T-Rex is different.
>> And obviously I know GSP is a big
dinosaur lover. So I wasn't surprised
when I saw all of the prehistoric things
he had there. I believe he had a
megalodon tooth. He was explaining that
to us. And then he was talking about the
Tyrannosaurus Rex. He was talking about
how his his hands are nice and small.
And I was very intrigued by how much
knowledge. He's somebody that he he
searches for knowledge not just in mixed
martial arts but also in the archaeology
and in dinosaurs and everything even
about like
>> human how the human body works with
fasting cold plunging the sauna he seeks
this information out and he retains it
and it's almost like I got a a college a
college course of archaeology and how
dinosaurs how they fossilize how they
dig up the fossils and that's something
that he told he found more pleasure
doing when he took his first hiatus from
mixed martial arts.
>> Wow.
>> Yeah, it's pretty cool. So,
>> that's cool. And I see you have the 3D
printed uh skulls over there.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. [laughter]
Going to get the coffee.
>> I should have him put on a lab
coat when he was going through all that
like, "Okay, gentlemen, let me teach you
about dinosaurs today.
[snorts and laughter]
>> You're a good uh you're a good gamer."
>> Yes. It's it's it it was uh uh it was my
life. Let's just say it was my life.
>> I want to challenge you into [laughter]
a few games that I have.
>> I'm excited. I'm excited.
>> Oh, I got to get your [laughter] uh
other uh
it's all flowing over. It's like a
I got to make you another one. [snorts]
Ah, Melie. I have to put some milk. So,
this one for you guys. I don't know
which was.
>> Look at that. Look at that. Are you
proud of this?
>> Absolutely. I made it myself. [laughter]
Made it myself. The coffee expert here.
>> I love it.
>> It's all the machine, guys. I wish I
could take the credit, but it ain't me.
Are you a Are you on a diet, uh, DJ or
>> I always eat pretty healthy year round?
So,
>> really, huh?
>> Yeah.
>> I got to learn this. I got to do that.
That's one thing I need to change is
>> What are you talking about? You're
You're still
>> I do not eat healthy at all, man. Oh
boy.
>> No, no, no, no. I don't. I really don't.
People have that false image of me
[laughter] that I live like a monk and
stuff and and I don't drink. I I I I
have all the
>> devices
>> all the vices in the world. Trust me,
that that's one of the reason I never
liked fighting. I I never really liked
it. First, you can get hurt, but also
it's heartbreaking. It's like you have
done all this for ending up losing. It's
it's it's the the feeling is terrible.
It's like terrible. But the winning is
>> the highest.
>> Yeah. When you win everything you you
feel like everything all that sacrifice
was worth it, right?
>> Absolutely.
>> I man I some guys like Do you like
fighting?
>> How do you feel about fighting?
>> I don't now being removed from it. I'm
not the I'm not the biggest fan just
because the financial aspect of it,
>> right? But I think like what I think me
fighting and like understanding like
okay this is the problem. How can I
figure this person out? I love that
aspect of it. Like like the IQ of it and
the and and the uh the gameship of it. I
love that. But like hurting somebody,
hitting somebody. I never like that.
>> It's the same here. like and I'm like,
"God,
>> I I like to go to the gym and have the
freedom to to do whatever the hell I
want and and but the the price to pay is
that
>> you have to be ready on the on the day
that you got to fight. That's that's
what sucks suck about it, right?"
>> Yeah. And then each time like I would
fight it would just um
>> I I told a story that not I was in a
single I was in Japan and I saw a
picture of ME SCREAMING LIKE AH AND I
was like I don't know who that person
is. like I don't rec I don't recognize
[laughter]
him and I told one of the coaches he
goes yeah man it's a real thing like
same when I look back on my fights I
don't recognize that person cuz
>> there's a you know
>> a psycho in there essentially a little
bit but
>> nah same you see picture of your of
yourself back in the day you're like man
who the like I I don't want like people
like oh is your your your kids going to
be fighters I'm like hell no I don't
want them to go up against a psychopath
like I was you like like we didn't grow
up the same way. You know what I mean?
>> Like I was insane. Like I I was ready to
do anything to achieve my goal. Like I
was a freaking psychopath. I was driven
like crazy. Like
>> like I couldn't take no for for answer.
I would have done anything. But now that
person is gone now. I don't have
[laughter] the same hunger anymore.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Same same. People like man
you should fight. You you still move.
And I'm like nah no those days are gone.
I don't want to do it anymore.
>> But it's all about pride and ego. Yes.
You you need that pride and ego when you
want to be champion because that's what
old you that that old you up against
adversity. But in the same time when you
[snorts] retire you need to let go of it
because it makes you a better person. If
you don't you just going to
>> messed up your your personal life,
right?
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> It's a it's a crazy duality, you know,
like like it's it's good, but it's not
good in the same time.
>> Yep. Absolutely. I'm gonna get you your
second uh coffee
and then hopefully
I can uh I can beat I can I can I can
brag [clears throat] about I [laughter]
beat Demetrius Johnson in combat but in
in in video game. [laughter]
>> I think he's going to kick my ass.
>> He's going to baptize me into [laughter]
Canada.

St. Pierre.
>> Yeah, come come. I'll show you uh my
basement. I have my uh my gym there and
everything. I'll show you a secret uh
about stuff that I do. I'm I'm serious.
Something that that I do that um
I don't know if you do something
similar. You'll tell me.
>> Okay. Okay.
>> So, GSP obviously I mean [music] he's
going to have his own his own area in
his house where he can have all his
workout.
>> So, this this is my ba bath cave, you
know. This is where I This is where I
can uh you know uh [music] relax
sometime and
train. I train here every every Sunday.
Sunday. [music] Sunday. Yeah. Like I now
in the weekend I stay home with the
family and I and I but I do my training
every Sunday when I wake up in the
morning. I do
>> I'll show you some stuff that I do. Uh
and and I don't know if you ever done
something like this. I um I I train my
my feet. I think it's very important.
>> Oh yeah. Have you ever tried it?
>> I have not.
>> I'll show you.
>> You have a sprinting coach.
>> Why does GSP want to have a sprinting
coach? But I feel as we age that is one
of the things that boom like trying to
be explosive and work and try to like
run very fast because it's something
that I feel you you lose as you age.
>> Especially after the age of 30, most
people will never sprint ever again in
their life and unless they have an
emergency.
>> Isn't that crazy?
>> Yeah. they will run but sprint I think I
think
>> and there's study that shown that doing
something as hard as you can like making
your the intensity peaks
>> it's like sprinting yeah
>> it helps you like in a lot of things
like there's a lot of benefits it boosts
your growth hormone production because
it's there's nothing like it
>> yep
>> I think if I if I had to choose only one
exercise for the rest of my life
>> sprinting would be really I'm a terrible
sprinter but but I like the benefits it
gives me. Oh, no, I'm terrible, you
know, [laughter] but but I I I love it,
you know.
>> So, the these are, you know, for the
foot muscle, you have a lot of muscle in
your foot. And I learned this late in my
life.
>> So, I learned uh to train my feet first
because I had a ACL tear and I learned
it as a rehab, but I also learned that I
can use that as performance. And all the
movement that we do, the power start
from the feet. And if your feet are not
strong or your stability is not good,
everything is compromised. The chain got
broken. So it's important that because
everything start from the feet that you
develop those feet and over time because
we wear shoes and we the only thing we
do with our feet is to walk. We lose
that ability to be tuned in to our feet.
Then you can you know work on
>> squat
>> squat like this. Mhm.
>> There's a many ways of doing it. You can
do side side and
>> it's sort of an activation
>> and then you walk and you'll feel more
your senses more in tune with your with
your feet.
>> And I don't know if you ever notice it.
Have you ever see um a baby that just
learn how to walk?
>> Yeah.
>> You see how he moves his toes? Yes. It's
something that we lose over time because
we wear our shoes
>> and the only thing we do is walking.
>> Yeah.
>> We lose that. We're not in tune with our
feet as much as our hands.
>> Gotcha. Gotcha.
>> And I think it's very important because
all your all your power, everything
start [clears throat] from here.
>> Mhm. Mhm.
>> Another thing.
>> Let me try. I'm not done. I want to try
it now.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Of course. Of course.
Try this one. Or try this one. Start.
Start. You never done it before.
>> Never done it before.
>> Try this one.
>> We all know how that goes when I
>> try a different one. I I want the TJ
DILLROSS SPECIAL.
>> OH YEAH. Did you get that? [laughter]
>> Go sideways.
>> Like this?
>> Yeah. Yeah.
Try sideways. Go.
>> Oh. So go
>> Yeah. A little bit. Yeah. One in front
of the other. Then you can switch
stance. You always do.
>> That's too far. It's too far.
>> Yeah. Yeah. It takes time. It's like
anything else. But you're you're very
athletic. You'll learn it. N
>> I see. And then what? So what's the
difference of going from this way to
sideways?
>> Many ways do you want to do it like look
you want to also do it try to do it this
way. Look
>> my goodness.
>> Make sure your your knees is pointing
the same direction of your feet of your
feet.
>> This this way too is good.
>> Let me see. You go like this.
>> Oh yeah. This one this one was the
beginning. Yeah, you can do it. Yeah. O
>> yeah and look at yourself in the mirror
so your posture is better posture
>> yeah try to stay tall
>> oh I can't
>> yeah no [laughter] you were a little bit
too wide maybe start from there
>> so there goes a point in time where you
don't want to go too wide
>> no yeah exactly
>> gotcha so you just go here okay
>> yeah don't go too wide
>> yeah so you just basically get in the
feeding
>> and walk like a skiing like let's say
you would ski
>> Oh so you're actually you actually go
like this
>> yeah a little bit you can do that you
can go backward
>> oh my goodness So it's it's the nerve
the connection. Yeah. It's and I'll show
you another one. [snorts]
>> So you sit there all you're in here.
It's like
>> so these these one are are look you can
there's many thing you can do with this
one. Like for example you can go
it's same thing
this works the the foot muscle. You can
work. [snorts]
>> See, these are the things that people
don't want to do. They're like, "Oh, the
pouring."
>> No, they're not no It's very important.
You see this works a certain part of
your foot. Yeah.
>> You're going side to side. This works
another part.
>> Yeah.
>> And you can go also triple extension
here. You don't need weight. You don't
need to lift heavy weight like I mean
>> this this you'll feel do do if you want
>> maybe more
>> go side to side you'll see it's hard in
the beginning like this.
>> No.
>> Oh like this here.
>> Yes. You see now do it a few times.
You'll feel
>> I can't even go back to the left.
>> Yeah. Because because you're you're
you're you're not in tune with your
foot.
>> Yeah. Oh my goodness. And then you went
and you went
>> these are all different muscle that
needs needs to be activated.
>> Oh my goodness.
>> Ju just do the foot like like this. This
one first.
>> Yeah. Do it fast here.
>> I can't. I'm trying.
>> Yeah. Okay.
>> Because you you're not stable because
everything is
>> Yeah. Yeah. I have to get used to it.
Yeah.
And the more you work your foot muscle,
it will help you prevent knee injuries
injuries because the foot take the
>> the most pounding of it. Yeah. And I've
had multiple knee injuries in my career.
Nothing like a a a torn ACL, but Yeah.
That's pretty dope.
>> And you do this twice a week.
>> Yeah.
>> For how long?
>> I'll ship you some at home. Send me your
address. I'll I'll get you. The the guy
who who make me discover this system,
his name is Gavin McMillan. He changed
my life.
>> Wow. I I wish I would have known this
stuff before because I grew up thinking,
oh, lifting heavy weight and stuff, but
you messed up your your body when you
don't you lift heavy and you don't use
the proper form, right?
>> And I did a lot of stupid thing like
this. You know, you're in the gym with a
with a friend. Oh, who's who's stronger?
>> This is so stupid. That's why I got
hurt, you know?
And and
>> well, I think also like the worst injury
an athlete can have is the ACL when they
tear it and then they always come back
like, "Okay, who am I am I still going
to be able to be explosive and go left
and right and and power off that?"
>> It's like um the way I they explain it
to me is like a train that you know a
train that has a curves
>> and let's say you're you're a very
powerful athlete at Zimitress. So your
train goes very fast. But if you're in a
curve and it goes fast and your body is
not, you know, receptive enough to to
hold itself and contain itself, you
know, when it goes off rail, it will
derail.
>> So is that's what it is. Sometime the
more powerful you power you have, the
when it goes uh off rail, it will go off
rail. Got it.
>> Look, this one is another one that you I
can put my heel on it.
>> And you said they're imbalance.
>> Yes. And this is looks like nothing.
It's actually pretty hard. You can do
like this.
>> You can do also on the other side
because remember your foot, most people
they work their foot in one block, but
your foot fold,
>> you know, it's like your hand goes very
flexible.
>> Yeah. And this is a muscle. You need to
be able to to to to
bring yourself guard. You grab his feet.
His feet are like grabbing your
hand.
>> Yeah. You see here now now it's my foot.
If I have like a problem with the tal
the talis and everything. Mhm.
>> Yeah. Try try it. You'll see. You'll
see. It looks easy, but it's absolute.
>> It reminds me when you're I get my
neurological exam. They make you stand
in that that thing and it's like
>> Yeah. You
>> You see what I mean?
>> Yeah.
>> It's very hard.
>> Yeah. It's always your foot's always
being flexed and always going back and
forth.
>> Now you see it. It's It's really the
foot muscle that works and not only your
ankle.
>> Yeah.
>> Most people they think they work their
foot, but they work their their ankle in
reality. [snorts]
>> Yeah. It's crazy. And then you
go this way. So you
>> go this way. It works something else.
You'll you'll feel a different muscle.
>> Okay. So you're going like
>> Yeah. Now it's my back. It's my It's my
uh this part of my my foot being worked
instead of my front.
>> That's crazy. And then I feel it here in
my quads, too.
>> Oh yeah.
>> You go, GSP. You go. That's why you
always in shape. That's why you
>> And and and a very basic exercise that I
do sometime after I work my foot. I I do
like a 30 second. I go on one one foot
and and I hold myself like this.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> For for 30 second on one foot.
>> Mhm.
>> And just this
>> alone,
>> it's quite challenging, especially when
you've been working your foot muscle
like it's a little bit tired.
>> You don't want to overdo it. You just
want to use it as an activation.
>> Activation. Gotcha. And then you would
start your actual like your calisthetics
and all that stuff.
>> Yes. Exactly. I'll show you um another
thing that I do that it was a not a
secret weapon, but at the time that I
started it,
>> it really helped me. Like I mean a lot
of people will think it's but
it's actually a a something that helped
me with my uh my field of vision, my
reaction times.
>> I'm going to put put the the curtain
down. And this is something you can do
at home. I'll show you. So he has this
big board. He pulls it down. Obviously,
he's taller than me, so it's at his eye
level. And he sits like this.
>> You see the dots?
>> Yep.
>> There's a dot in the dot.
>> Yep. I see it. So when you aim small,
you miss small, right?
>> Yep.
>> And what I do is
I not allowed to move. I only want to
move my eyes.
>> Yeah. And you know in sports sometimes
when something happen or people are are
they do this [music] to you don't you
don't have time in at the elite level to
do that you want to be the most
efficient as possible. Something
happened click your eyes look. You don't
have to all look because if you
something happened there then you have
to react there.
>> You you you lose.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Yeah. So this is why it's for and also
when fighter get hit over time
>> they're they they form blind spot like a
horse you know like a horse that is
there. Yep.
>> If you hit me from this angle I'm not
going to see it coming. That's why you
see a lot of fighters sometime they get
hit with the same punches.
>> Mhm.
>> And they get worse over time.
>> Yep. Yep. And I've studied when I when I
was fighting guys I knew were their
blind spot.
>> Like Michael Bisping.
>> Yeah. Blisspring was there [laughter]
for example
Chuck Leiddell very often he get he got
hit with the overand look a lot of his
fight.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh mine you know what mine was I had an
issue with something because normally I
I fight a little bit low
>> so I'm looking up. By looking up I have
a hard time seeing things.
>> Everything coming up.
>> Yeah. Carlos cut me with the ba ba ba?
Yeah.
>> Yeah. Mhm.
>> So, so when someone is shorter and I
normally I'm I'm looking up things that
come from down to up, I have a harder
time.
>> Gotcha.
>> So, this helps you also to to correct
the correct course of these things. So,
I go for I give you an example. I'm
here.
And this is the basic. I can go. It's
like a muscle.
>> Ah, I gotcha.
>> He does this right here like this. Just
like I'm not bullshitting you guys. This
is what the he does right here.
>> See? And he could go like
this. I'm not there, but you know what I
mean?
>> Have you Have you ever tried it?
>> No, but it reminds you of uh what is it?
Um, you know when you get your
neurological exam and it's like, "Okay,
go like this." And they make you go back
and forth with that. It has to go pop.
Yeah. And they're like, "Okay, read read
what you see." And it's like, "A seven."
And you're going back for what it
reminds me of because they're they're
they're trying to see and track how fast
you can read without going like this.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No. No.
>> So when you beep beep, it remind me of I
was I'm like, "Uh, I I can't I I can't I
can't. Let me get you. Let me get you
something. So you try it with this
because it looks very simple. Look,
Demetrius,
>> my eyes are already tired.
>> Put Put it I'm trying to weakening him
so I can beat him in the video game, you
know. But don't tell him, "Oh he
heard me." [laughter]
Let's say you go one arm length.
>> Go. Is this to get my height correct?
>> Yeah. Yeah. But also for the balance.
[laughter]
>> You see, you're missing a little bit,
but it's it's no big deal. All right.
I'll put it. Yeah. Try on one leg and
look the dot.
>> Yeah. We
>> opposite.
>> I am.
And then switch up down.
Yeah. Follow the the rhythm.
I'll put it slower.
>> There we go. Now we talking.
>> Yeah. It's a It's a skill. It's like you
>> Yeah.
>> And try not move. You move a little bit.
>> Well, I'm I'm balancing on this. Yeah.
Yeah. That's a That's why it's hard.
>> Yeah. Oh my god. Yeah.
>> You see? You see what I mean, right? And
if you do if you do a lot of this, it
because it it weak it it it fatigues
your nervous system.
>> Yeah.
>> Don't don't do too much. It's just an
activation.
>> I can feel like my eye muscles are like
tired like
>> And not not only that, you will be
slower to react. M
>> once I've one time I made a mistake of
doing this because I was doing this in
um in the Olympic center with a doctor a
specialist
>> the advantageous I learned that in in
Atlanta but but then I I carry on with
that training
>> you took it you you adopted it into your
training
>> and I made a mistake of doing my my
nervous system training with the eyes
then I went to a gymnastic training man
I couldn't do a back flip I was all
messed up
>> because everything was off
>> yeah everything like so So it it's it
really something with the nervous
system. It tires you.
>> Wow. He does that twice a week. And he
says it helps his nervous system to keep
his eyes tracking just like in mixed
martial arts when you're moving around
your eyes have to move around and see
things from his peripherals. And so
that's another thing he does even though
he's retired. Like I feel like he
embodies almost like myself like being
the best version of himself and a
martial artist. But I ain't going to lie
to you, my eye muscles were
tired. So that's amazing.
>> How about we go play with the game now?
[laughter]
>> I can't see. I can't see.
>> He's going to be like, "Man, I got to
react. You beat the out of me."
>> Wow.
>> I like I live to look good. Also, you
just It's I don't believe lifting will
make me a better fighter. I believe, you
know, it will make me maybe my my
physique look good. And and it's
important, you know, you if you want to
you want to have sponsors and stuff, you
know, you [laughter] need to work on
your body, right?
>> Yep. You embody martial arts, right?
Like even though you're done and you're
retired, look what you're doing. Like
you you kept saying I think as a
fighter, but you're not a fighter
anymore. You know what I mean? You're a
martial art. So you're a martial artist,
right? Like I think people can't
separate the I think the public doesn't
understand there's there's a difference
>> where a fighter is like okay you're
fighting you're fighting somebody but a
martial artist like you always want to
make sure you are the uh you're always
sharp like with your eyes your your
balance your knees and boom you sprint I
want my body to keep on being the best
version of itself.
>> Oh thank you man. There there's nothing
more sad when I see great athletes after
they retire to become unhealthy. Like it
it I think it's sad, you know.
>> Yep.
>> I I I see sometimes it breaks my heart,
you know, the guy was a freaking beast
and then you see him he's like he's fat
and you know sometime it's for a certain
reason but but when it's because of the
person sort of let let it let himself go
I feel I feel it's very sad.
>> Yeah. Absolutely.
>> Yeah. Don't want to be like this.
[laughter]
Come now. Now I challenge you in video
games.
>> Let's go.
>> Oh, I love that.
>> So, I know DJ is a gamer and I am a
little bit of a gamer myself. I love
combat game. So, I wanted to challenge
him in uh
three specific combat game. Uh Super
Smash Bros., Street Fighter, and Mortal
Kombat. I
>> I'll make I'll make it do. We We'll do
with it. Okay. All right. Here we go,
boys. So, the first one was [music]
Super Mario Smash Brothers for Nintendo
Switch. And here's the thing, it's home
field advantage. I am the challenger, so
I am in enemy territory. I never played
on a Nintendo Switch. Who plays on a
Nintendo Switch nowadays? I'm a PC guy,
boys. I like to [music] have my Xbox
Elite controller in my hand when I'm
playing fighting games. But we started
off with Super Smash Brothers.
>> So, Super Smash Bros. Street Fighter and
we finish with Mortal Kombat.
>> Mortal Kombat bet.
>> All right. We start with the least
violent to the worst. [laughter]
>> Yeah.
>> So, how you want to do this? Like the
best out of two or three or
>> Oh, we do best out of two or
>> Okay. Okay. The best out of two. You got
to kick my ass.
>> We have We have so many games. So, we
can go back and we can play. Okay.
Whoever wins this one, the next one and
the next one.
>> So, the first one who wins two like like
Mortal Kombat Street Fighter the one who
beat
>> Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Let's go Shadow
Moses.
>> Okay. You choose the first world. I
choose the second.
>> Bet. [laughter]
You're like, I've been fighting here.
Okay, now you have There you go. Okay,
good.
>> There you go. Mario.
>> I'll pick him.
>> No, Bowser. Bowser.
>> Pick Mac.
>> Little Mac. I know. I'm going Rayu.
>> Ryu. Uhoh.
>> Who would be Little Mac nemesis?
>> Oh, man. They He didn't have his uh
>> How do you beat a boxer? You beat a
boxer with the kicks, right?
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> Mario. Mario kicks pretty good.
>> Mario kicks good. Yep.
>> Yeah. I'm gonna get Mario.
>> So, when you play with your kids,
[laughter] who who do they play? Well,
my my my oldest son is unbeatable. He
thinks Sonic. Oh, man. He's so good.
He's so good.
>> I tell you, when this game first came
out in Nintendo 64, there was like maybe
eight eight players. Now, you got the
whole damn roster here. [laughter]
>> Pick Sonic. Oh, I got Sonic.
>> You know, we'll go we'll go with uh
we'll go with Simon.
>> Simon.
Sonic.
Three, two, ONE, GO.
OKAY. OKAY.
>> OH, he's doing some combos, huh?
>> There you go. Come on. You go.
>> Okay. You're damn good.
>> Where'd he go?
>> MY
You put me in the coffin. What the hell?
>> Okay. You killed me once. All right. All
right. All right.
>> All right. Ah,
>> meet my friend. Zero.
>> Like when you hit me, it hurts more than
when I do hit you. [laughter]
>> Oh. Oh, when I
>> Oh, Damn. Okay, you're good. You're
You're no joke, right?
[screaming]
>> Oh, yeah.
>> I beat him. I beat him once. At least
it's not going to be a flawless victory.
[laughter]
>> Come on.
>> Okay.
>> Oh,
>> Oh, shoot. Oh yeah.
>> Oh yeah. OH YEAH. AND NOW the final.
>> I can't tight. It's tight.
>> Come on. Come on. Come on.
>> NO.
>> YES. [screaming]
YES. YES. YES. Come on. Come on. Come
on. Kill. Kill.
>> Oh.
Oh.
>> OH NO. OH GOD. Oh [laughter] god. That
That was a good one.
>> I got my ass kicked at Super Smash Bro.
All right. All right.
>> So, we want to do a street fighter.
>> Do Street Fighter. Yeah. We'll work our
way up like you said to G to PG. Then
we'll go Rated R.
>> Yeah. To the for the the adult the last
one.
>> We have to turn it off. All right. Guys,
you guys watch this part.
I love video game. It's it's it's fun. I
mean, it's so much fun.
>> My wife in the longest time didn't
understand it. She goes, "I don't know
why you play video games." I was like,
"Babe, it's amazing. I love playing
video games."
>> You get immersed into a different world.
It's very, you know, it makes you makes
you be in the present moment, you forget
all your problems and it's fun.
>> You see my character when I get into
fighting with the bandana and rayu
inspire me. Yeah. Karate Kid, Rayu.
>> So I got I come in with my ghee and you
know
>> he's like I'm ready to go.
>> Yeah. I want to be like Rayu. If I have
a chance to beat you at something, this
is the game.
>> You think it is? You think it's the
game? I mean, I don't know how good you
are at this, but this is probably my
favorite one.
>> Playing Street Fighter 2 from playing
Street Fighter 6 is a different ball
game. With Street Fighter 6, [music] you
have combos, you have frame data, you
have all that stuff, which I've been
really playing at. I mastered, you know,
DJ Akuma, almost Ryu, multiple
characters. They going back to Street
Fighter 2 30th anniversary edition. Oh
my god, talk about playing back in time.
>> Round one, fight.
Oh my lord.
>> Oh my god. Okay,
>> now you're out on fire on this one.
>> Oh, okay. Okay,
now he got he got himself back in the
game.
>> You see that the problem is because I
have the home field advantage, the more
I wait, the worse [laughter] it gets.
and I'm aware of it. So, I need to beat
you fast before you get used to the the
controller and everything.
>> Oh, God. Come on.
>> Oh, no.
>> Yes. [screaming]
>> Man, it's so stressful. My goodness.
Yeah, I got to beat you right now
because the more I wait, the worse it
will get for me.
I know you're a better player. It's just
that you're not used to the the
controller.
>> Yeah. Come on. Come on.
>> Yes.
>> Yes. [laughter]
>> You win that one.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, you want to do uh
street uh Mortal Kombat. Perfect. Okay.
>> He got me on that one. He got me on that
one. Guys, don't take away my gaming
card. Okay. I'm I'm still legit. I am
still legit,
>> boys.
>> All right, boys.
>> One one.
>> How he going to beat me a Street Fighter
like that, huh? I think he did. You know
what it is? It's that damn
[laughter]
>> I made you tired.
>> Yes. On top of having the home field
advantage and know how my joystick goes.
>> The joystick it goes. I couldn't I'm I'm
like I can't get any.
>> Yeah.
>> I I I exhaust your nervous system with
the eyes. [laughter]
This was all planned. It was all planned
meticulously.
It's about strategy, preparation, you
know, and I wanted to win, you know. So,
>> little little do we know, I'm on the
plane over here. He's like, "Come on,
come on, come on, come on." So, I was
like, "Come on, Dad. Come on."
>> Okay. Who what's going on?
>> I think you need to be on the uh uh
>> main menu. Main menu.
>> Skip current task.
>> This one is to go back. This one is to
go.
>> Yeah.
>> Like, look at GSP. Tell DJ how to work
the controller.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, [laughter] because
normally you're used to do this way.
>> Yeah,
>> it's come through.
>> Okay, so fight. Uh, get in a ring and
look. Okay. Yeah.
>> Last one, right?
>> Last one. Last one.
>> You know what? The Joker.
>> Okay. Who did I got?
>> You know what?
>> You gang or
>> sometimes you got to go with the man
who's died and they brought him back to
life for work.
Go Robocop.
>> A Robocop. Huh?
>> Yes, sir.
>> You know what? I'm going to get the
Terminator.
>> Oh my goodness. You know, there was a
game in Sega Genesis. It was Robocop
versus Terminator. It was an amazing
game. Amazing game.
>> You know what?
>> Johnny Cage
>> goes Johnny Cage. I just set that up.
Robocop versus [laughter]
>> Johnny Cage.
>> So now I get one one.
>> It's 1-1. I got him in Smash. He got me
in Street Fighter. It all comes down to
this. The final match.
>> Round one,
fight.
>> Take that.
>> Okay, you're good with
>> Oh
>> yes. Oh yes. Take that.
>> Oh, Jack Vandam combos right there.
>> He's too fat. Oh,
>> I didn't know Robocop had balls.
[laughter]
>> Oh, hit him.
[screaming]
>> There we go. Take this. Oh god.
My god, it's violent. All right, I got
my fatal blows, too. Coming out myself.
If I don't die, I'm going to hit YOU
WITH IT.
>> NO.
>> YES. YES. COME ON. Come on. Come on.
>> Oh, I got you. I got you. You're on the
edge, man.
>> Round two.
Fight.
Okay, that's fine. Okay, now you're
screwed, my friend.
Damn.
>> How come that's not hurting you? You're
standing on spikes.
>> I'm too fast. That's why.
[screaming]
>> Oh, yes.
>> Oh,
God. God, look at that.
I GOT OH YOU should need that
foot. Here we go.
>> Okay. Final showdown.
>> I'm locked now, boys.
>> Final round fight.
>> No. No.
>> Oh god.
[screaming]
>> Oh, take that.
Oh no.
Oh
>> hey man, it's a TIGHT GAME.
>> OH. Oh no,
>> boys. I had to I had to spam you. I had
to keep shooting. I can't let YOU DO ME
LIKE THAT. I can't [laughter] let you do
me like that.
>> That was a good game, baby.
>> You You won the video game contesta.
Amazing.
>> Wow. Wow. You beat me in my own field,
bro.
>> I'm pitting out. I'm pitting out.
Ah,
>> want to do some ping pong?
>> Let's do [laughter]
>> I'm ready for some ping pong.
>> Oh yeah, you beat me at this.
>> I'll get you at this, you know.
>> Okay, boys.
There's no secret there. Mighty got that
one over GSP. But now we're going to
step into his world. GSP is a big fan of
pingpong. So what does he do? Of course,
he has his own ping pong table. He pulls
that bad boy out and I blast the paddle
like this. Guess I said, "Show me what
you got." GSP. Come on. Come on.
All right, here we go.
>> Oh my god.
>> Almost in the capuccino.
>> Uh, one zero.
>> One zero. Yeah. You
>> make me want to go home and get a ping
pong table now.
Yes.
>> One one.
>> I got to focus. 31.
>> 31. 31.
>> 41.
>> See, now you start to make me go this
way. This way.
>> Playing each side. Trying to see which
side you're
>> my weakest.
>> Your Yeah.
Nice. Missed it.
>> Oh,
>> come on. Oh, yeah. NOW,
>> THERE WE GO. THERE YOU GO. [laughter] I
COULDN'T MISS this one.
>> Damn, it feels good. Like, he beat me in
video game. Damn you go. Hey,
deserve it. He said, "Damn, [laughter]
that feels good. love it."
>> 62.
>> 62.
>> All right. MY SPECIAL ONE.
>> OH,
>> I COULDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING TO THAT ONE.
The hell
>> Oh.
>> Yeah. They give you They give you a
certain spin that when you hit it, it
goes further.
8 A2. 828.
>> Oh,
>> 92.
>> It's the beginning of the end, Mr.
Johnson.
>> Why you Why you got to remind me of
that?
>> It's the beginning of the end.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Game point.
>> Game point.
>> Yes, sir.
>> Okay, we got

going to hit it. [laughter] Oh, that is
amazing.
>> At least I got a a sweet sweet uh
revenge.
>> It's okay. It's 1-1. It's 1-1. Mighty
one on the video games. I mean,
[laughter]
[gasps] we all knew that was going to
happen, right? But then GSP gets a
victory over me in pingpong. Now there's
only one place where we can settle this
tie and it's at the world famous Tristar
gym. We're going to go and settle this
on the mats like great athletes do.
On the next episode of the Mighty
Journey with GSP
