04:26 days for free .99 but first I got to say

04:29 sir a pleasure to have you thank you so

04:31 much for coming on out from Bakersfield

04:34 you have such a great amount of energy

04:36 but the back and forth we were trying to

04:37 figure out on the scheduling you were

04:40 potentially gonna go out to Fresno

04:42 yesterday yeah to Valley fight series

04:44 because my coach was fighting uh artor

04:45 Bergos which he got the win you know UD

04:48 win he pulled it off honestly which is

04:51 good I'm glad that happened but you were

04:54 not at that fight night Sir what

04:55 happened so my friend hit me up last

04:58 minute to go to the for concert last

05:00 night and I was like you know what I

05:02 want to have a good time you know I want

05:03 to celebrate my win so I live streamed

05:05 this fight from the concert and was able

05:06 to watch it when I saw that you were at

05:10 the concert I know we had gone back and

05:13 forth a couple times but I was like this

05:15 is clearly not you going to Fresno to go

05:20 support your team oh yeah no honestly I

05:22 talked to I like oh I'm g go to Valley

05:23 fight series I don't know what time I'm

05:24 getting back home and then I posted it

05:27 and I just forget I just be posting

05:29 stuff

05:30 and then you hit me like wait this isn't

05:31 Valley fight series you're had the

05:33 concert and I was like don't worry I'll

05:35 still be there tomorrow and you know

05:36 listen dude I'm not one to get in

05:38 people's way of having fun but when I

05:41 saw that I go listen up or down are we

05:43 doing this because I need to set up

05:45 stuff and it's a lot of equipment and am

05:46 I bringing it upstairs or are we rolling

05:48 and more importantly I was getting kind

05:50 of feisty because I go dude I need to

05:51 train because I like you did not roll a

05:53 ton this week yeah no I I probably

05:55 rolled like once once this week so I was

05:57 like I needed the training session too

05:59 but but I am a man of my word you did

06:01 and I actually do show up a little bit

06:03 late but I'm always running L you know

06:04 what man it's okay and whenever somebody

06:07 comes that far to he it always makes me

06:10 say like listen dude it's not a hard one

06:13 it's a get here safe yeah and you know

06:15 once I saw you were here you made it

06:17 safe it was good I was like great now we

06:19 get to train we get to roll uh did you

06:21 enjoy getting to roll today sir oh I

06:22 enjoyed the roll because I haven't been

06:23 able to roll all week long well not I

06:25 wanted to give my body a break yeah but

06:27 I really enjoyed it not only that

06:28 getting to learn from a master from

06:29 yourself

06:30 I get to learn work on my game and add

06:32 new stuff to the tool B you know what it

06:34 is is is that it's very fun to roll with

06:37 MMA fighters who all do something a

06:38 little bit different because we don't do

06:41 things the same way so a lot of this is

06:43 also trial and error for me to go like I

06:45 don't know if my stuff's going to work

06:46 with this your passing's good you're

06:47 doing cartwheels for no reason and then

06:50 all of a sudden you're able to also

06:52 sustain all of your body up in the air

06:56 just like doing a handstand yeah and

06:58 there was a point where I go I should be

07:00 sweeping him here but I want to see how

07:01 long he can hold this and you held it

07:03 for a very long time people that don't

07:05 know I'm a I'm a break dancer man I

07:07 actually could break dance I triy to put

07:08 off a couple moves in the ring after I

07:10 won but it completely failed you know I

07:11 was in the moment but I I could walk

07:13 with my hands you know you okay okay but

07:15 walking on your hands is not necessarily

07:17 break dancing right you know that right

07:19 no no no but break I can actually break

07:20 dance that's two different things you

07:22 when did you start break dancing and how

07:24 did you start break dancing so my sister

07:26 uh we watched the movie and I was

07:27 probably like 3 years old and you're

07:29 saying

07:30 you got served that's the movie you

07:32 watching watch You Got Served and then

07:34 uh she brought the movie home on VHS and

07:36 we used to be able to watch it and then

07:38 uh she's like you should really practice

07:39 this my my and then my sister was also

07:42 into like learning to break dance but

07:44 she didn't pick up anything she's like I

07:46 she tried it for a week and never did it

07:47 and then they would show me videos you

07:49 know on VHS and all that stuff and I

07:51 just happened to pick it up did you ever

07:53 bust out any cardboard or anything or

07:55 were you just doing head spins like what

07:57 was your go-to move I know head spin the

08:00 head spin but I was not I have no

08:02 cardboard I do it on rug and like the

08:04 top of my head will get all burnt up at

08:07 least you said rug because I've seen

08:09 people do it with tile like we all have

08:11 made choices I don't know if you ever

08:13 did this as well I'm going to assume you

08:14 did but when I look back at my history

08:17 of being a Grappler I remember days when

08:20 I was rolling with people at like a park

08:22 and like people are wrestling and you're

08:24 just kind of like all right in the

08:25 moment and like we're having fullon like

08:28 grappling matches not knowing anything

08:30 about grappling and now you couldn't

08:33 convince me to not do anything on a mat

08:36 like now I'm like what is wrong with you

08:38 you get mats that's what mats are for

08:40 yeah I'll constantly have like people

08:41 like invite me like hey I know that you

08:43 fight like come to like a your regular

08:45 day commercial gym and let let's bar I'm

08:48 like no I'm an athlete I am a fighter

08:52 I'm not going to roll with you in

08:53 anywhere in any public space come to an

08:55 martial arts gym like and they like no

08:57 we could Spar in the yoga room and I'm

08:58 like I'm not going to do that which by

09:01 the way is the least appealing idea to

09:04 ever be like yo I got a yoga room it's

09:06 like no thank you sir no thank you what

09:08 what are we doing here like you know

09:10 like at least like in your backyard

09:11 nobody's watching you but yeah yeah at a

09:13 commercial gym like but even if it's the

09:15 backyard there needs to be mats though

09:17 right know yeah yeah but I mean like a

09:19 light Spar like a light match of course

09:20 we're not trying to kill each other but

09:22 you're asking a guy that's about to go

09:23 professional yeah let's let's let's go

09:26 to your local gym you know I just I just

09:28 find it like comedy I'm like hey just

09:30 show up to the gym there's open mats all

09:32 the time that is fair you know what was

09:34 very funny is is that we were in the

09:36 middle of rolling and uh one of the

09:38 coaches here at MMA Jordan who does a

09:41 lot of Flippy stuff starts showing off

09:43 backflips and is like 360 kicks and 720

09:47 kicks and I thought legitimately there

09:49 was a shot I was going to lose you like

09:51 you were going to go over and start

09:52 doing flippy nonsense with him because I

09:55 think that seems more fun than just

09:56 rolling with this guy who's super I was

09:59 like oh no no stay here I want to

10:02 continue training I almost thought you

10:04 were get to it up and be like hey man

10:05 how do you do this or I do it like this

10:07 kind of a thing oh well I'm like well

10:08 you see my striking I usually tend to

10:10 have fun but I do all those tornado

10:12 kicks and all that stuff but I still did

10:13 flippy stuff with you too you did do

10:15 flippy stuff and I'm still pissed about

10:17 it and I still was yelling and I don't

10:19 know if you were picking up on some of

10:20 my comments but I was like what's

10:21 happening what the hell going on why you

10:23 doing this and I 100% yelled at why are

10:25 you doing this because I just I can't do

10:28 it and I have no real want to do it yeah

10:32 I understand it is

10:33 occasionally uh very beneficial to do it

10:36 but you literally did one cartwheel away

10:38 from me like and you were trying to pass

10:41 guard so you did it not to get to the

10:43 other side just to be like and go away

10:44 and I go go have fun what is this you're

10:47 like this would be stalling to me sir so

10:50 I I had a moment with that um do you

10:52 want to take a look and see if anybody

10:53 has said anything or asked any questions

10:56 we're very good at normally implementing

10:58 that so let's kind of take a little

11:00 little look here so far we got these

11:02 hands so when you see this is it this

11:05 when people do that or is it this it's

11:07 this it's this that's what I thought

11:08 okay you're doing good okay big question

11:11 Emoji is it this or this I I like I like

11:17 this better I like this better I like

11:19 this way better than than the than the

11:20 the weird handan thing the someone said

11:23 it was two people doing a high five I

11:24 was like I don't see it I don't see it I

11:26 always think like thank you appreciate

11:28 that I also realized I was like oh maybe

11:30 think people think it's like a religious

11:32 thing or whatever I don't know what it's

11:33 supposed to be I just know I think like

11:35 thank you I appreciate you thank you

11:36 brother I always put three emojis and

11:38 the one I hate well I I I leave that one

11:39 out I hate that one that like high five

11:41 one the side one I just like nah I

11:43 usually put the handshake the prayer and

11:46 then the up you know the up hand know so

11:48 you know and I've seen you when you say

11:51 you do you say that you do three at a

11:52 time I do three at a time all the time

11:54 for some reason is it just like an OCD

11:56 thing no I think it's cuz I played

11:58 basketball so my favorite numbers are

11:59 three and six okay so it's like LeBron

12:02 was number six and a three-point shot is

12:04 number three so it's just okay those

12:06 numbers just pop up the most in my life

12:08 well all right I'm seeing this right

12:09 over here and somebody yelled out

12:11 godspeed oh yeah okay so let's get to

12:14 the nickname because you know you you've

12:17 alluded to this a couple times but I've

12:19 never gotten told the story specifically

12:22 so how does one get the nickname

12:23 godspeed so it has multiple different

12:26 like meanings to me and multiple reasons

12:28 why I actually pick it so the the first

12:31 one is I was hanging on my friends

12:32 bowling and they're like we need we need

12:34 to have a fighter nickname and like I

12:36 was like like oh what's a you know

12:38 you're very fast what's a way we can

12:39 call you fast and the first thing that

12:41 happens is my friends like Speedy

12:42 Gonzalez you're Mexican that's it and

12:44 I'm like no I'm not going with that

12:46 nickname and then somebody yells

12:48 godspeed and that sounds cool you know

12:51 and plus it's anime related you know uh

12:53 the the character kilawa when he goes

12:55 into a mode it's called godspeed but

12:58 that isn't the only reason you know that

12:59 um bass rutin when I was 12 years old

13:02 one of his phrases God's beat and party

13:03 on so he told me Happy Birthday God's

13:06 beat and party on I still have the Tweet

13:07 actually wow I still have it saved and

13:09 I'm like if Bast ruin told me this this

13:10 is something I'll keep it for the rest

13:11 of my life and then uh when a soldier

13:14 goes to war he's told God's speed may

13:16 God be with you yeah so there's a couple

13:18 different meanings in there and I'm

13:20 pretty sure I'm missing one but yeah

13:22 well somebody in the live chat said he

13:24 has multiple nicknames oh yeah so what

13:28 are the other ones so like uh L okay so

13:32 like because I come out to the song by

13:34 vente Fernandez yeah you know by the way

13:37 I have to be honest when we are trying

13:39 to be impartial on the microphone for

13:42 commentary when brown people come out to

13:45 very brown people music it is very hard

13:47 for me not to comment and be like oh no

13:50 I think I'm rooting for this guy well to

13:52 me like the Spanish music it's somebody

13:55 said this I watched in a documentary

13:56 interview it's not that the music is

13:58 violent

13:59 it's the guy that's coming out you're in

14:01 for a war yeah it's like Julio Cesar

14:03 Chavez would come out to the band music

14:05 but that guy was not backing down at all

14:07 yeah and all those guys that Brandon

14:09 Moreno you know you're going to be

14:10 minimum in a dog fight it's not going to

14:12 be easy T night for you even if I lose

14:14 I'm not going down without a fight so

14:16 that's that's kind of why I kind of come

14:18 out to the Spanish music I love that

14:19 intimidation Factor well it definitely

14:21 worked uh in fact you know if you had

14:23 walked out to that en rolling today I

14:25 would have been like dude I'm a little

14:26 scared to roll with this guy now but I

14:29 want to say this have you heard the new

14:30 Kendrick Lamar album I've heard

14:32 partially some parts yeah did you hear

14:34 the first track yeah I heard the first

14:35 track when I

14:37 heard the lady singing and it had a

14:40 mariachi influence it had a Spanish

14:42 influence yeah I don't know if you felt

14:45 this way it's very rare I hear a song

14:48 and think that's a walk out song for me

14:50 yeah I was like yo this is so dramatic I

14:52 would walk out to that song like it hit

14:55 me on a good level because I go yeah

14:57 it's a little bit like inverting the

14:59 expectations like a very calm walkout

15:01 song where this woman like as soon as

15:04 she starts singing in Spanish I was like

15:06 yeah oh I I I think that's really

15:09 [ __ ] like epic to do so it's been a

15:12 while since that's happened someone also

15:14 told me there's another one here in the

15:16 chat and it says Manel oh El Manel yeah

15:20 so because I'm a very flamboyant dresser

15:23 so I bought these pants from freaking

15:27 uh I bought these pants fire ton or

15:29 something but they literally look like

15:31 drapes so they look like drapes and like

15:33 like you don't want and yeah they

15:36 literally it's terrible design but I was

15:38 wearing them to work all the time so the

15:40 at work the nickname came up and Mandel

15:43 so that's so there's I have way too many

15:45 nicknames man I I just don't know like I

15:48 thought they cut you off after a certain

15:50 amount of nicknames no it's just because

15:51 like I'm a very I I don't mind getting

15:54 made fun of by anybody I don't find I

15:55 don't mind like if somebody says a new

15:57 nickname every day but go with them and

15:59 they run with them like now when they

16:01 see me at work like oh El Manel call

16:03 them over you know yeah and so and then

16:05 I like I like oay have a drink made

16:07 after me now that's called lray so

16:09 Trenton Thompson 6 says man has always

16:12 had a good sense of fashion and I was

16:14 talking to you about this a little bit

16:15 off air I just noticed there's a lot of

16:17 selfie of the drip and listen if you see

16:21 me doing a ton of drip selfies feel free

16:24 to do the same but you will never catch

16:26 them like normally it's a selfie that's

16:28 like I'm at this event this no I see

16:30 your mirror a lot because I see you in

16:32 there being like yo I got this jacket on

16:34 it's kind of puffy I'm feeling pretty

16:36 good tonight I'm feeling very very

16:38 fashioned forward so where does this

16:41 sense of flashiness comes from Sir my

16:43 mom and my sisters I was raised with

16:45 five s well four sisters and so uh with

16:48 them I love shopping like you know I

16:50 love to shop I love to show off my

16:51 outfits and then my mom she's like a

16:53 very flashy dresser too so like we all

16:56 used to just get ready and like you know

16:57 dress up as much as we possibly could

16:59 but also like I'll have like random

17:01 fashion offs with people on Instagram

17:03 stories like do you really yeah we talk

17:05 about it like bro you're not beating my

17:06 outfit today like I'll talk to people

17:08 like you're not flyer than me and then

17:10 other fighters in Baker Shield like

17:11 they're picking up on the fashion sense

17:13 now and we will talk crap to each other

17:15 it's like bro you're not I'm the best

17:17 dress fighter in town they're like no I

17:18 am and I'm like all right cool you know

17:20 so yeah we have fashion has there ever

17:22 been a moment that you saw someone's

17:24 drip that you said I think they got me

17:25 today somebody I think no but one

17:31 time I think I'm the flyest bro cuz I

17:33 put some thought into stuff but one time

17:36 I was like why didn't I wear that I like

17:37 I've never worn overalls but somebody

17:40 does wear overalls I'm like this is

17:41 that's cool like you know I'd wear

17:42 something like that just to try it out I

17:43 probably wouldn't look too good in it

17:45 brother I would not wear overalls you

17:46 know what I wore overalls when I was in

17:48 a child's photo and my parents put me in

17:51 them and I looked at it I was like look

17:52 how dumb I look with this honestly

17:54 because you you inspired me now I'mma

17:55 put a childlike striped t-shirt

17:57 underneath and wear some overalls tag

17:59 you in it I know please do it's just I

18:02 like to tell people I have two different

18:04 modes I am either in sweats like I'm

18:07 going to the gym or I'm in a suit yeah

18:11 those are the two extremes so people

18:13 when they don't see me at the gym and

18:15 they see me all decked out it's usually

18:17 because I'm on stage or I got to do

18:18 something and so they're like oh you

18:20 dress up nicely and I was like this is

18:22 how I wish I would do if I if I had a

18:24 job where I need to be in a suit every

18:25 day I'd be fine you would definitely do

18:27 it I'd be fine I like that cuz I like

18:29 buying new shirts and ties and when I

18:31 used to do speech and debate you had to

18:33 have a new suit and tie combination for

18:36 every single time yeah it can't be the

18:37 same thing if not people are going to

18:38 start thinking it's the same same

18:40 promotion same stuff same thing all over

18:42 and dude sometimes I even look online uh

18:44 to see if I've worn the shirt tie

18:46 combination before because I go I don't

18:47 want to do this the only time I did it

18:49 was at Spar star I did wear my Dodgers

18:51 tie and I was like I don't even want to

18:53 wear it with the like the black suit

18:55 jacket but I go this is our bragging

18:57 rights time so don't mind being like a

18:59 little off from my personal taste to be

19:01 correct with the tie uh but the a good

19:04 friend here the Hondurian Warrior is in

19:06 the chat section just put up some fire

19:08 emojis hey what's up brother he also had

19:10 a very strong night there great

19:12 performance so shout out to you brother

19:13 honestly I talked to him for like a

19:14 maybe like a couple seconds he was super

19:16 cool super nice guy like uh I just told

19:18 him like hey man good luck with your

19:19 fight and he's like hey you too and we

19:21 kept walking by each other going to the

19:23 restroom and it's like you know that

19:25 fired awkward like you like we're about

19:27 to go fight so he can't really talk yet

19:30 but I had a really good vibe from him

19:31 the whole time I in getting to do the

19:34 interview with him too um the postmatch

19:36 interview Good Vibes like I felt like oh

19:39 I kind of understand where he's coming

19:41 from it was very easy effortless

19:43 interview so uh shout out you bud if

19:46 you're watching in the future perhaps we

19:48 do one of these you come over and train

19:50 we do an interview be dope so all right

19:54 uh why don't we go and take a look and

19:56 see if anybody is uh added anything else

19:59 because I think we're going to close

20:00 this up so that if you guys want to

20:02 catch out the rest of the interview you

20:03 would need to come back again to the

20:06 grappling hour you can go to the patreon

20:08 and see it early or you can wait 30 days

20:11 so that's how it's going to be in 30

20:13 days it'll be out and free to everybody

20:15 on YouTube but until then it's going to

20:17 be on my patreon once it's edited in

20:19 like a day or so so take a look and see

20:21 if we got anybody else what's

20:27 up see

20:34 it's just God be stuff like that you

20:35 know people just pay attention and stuff

20:37 to it I see that yeah did you is there

20:39 not one comment in there uh or I think

20:41 there's a question in

20:45 there why is why is rap such a good

20:49 Grappler who where did that come from

20:52 from verbal verbal tcast sounds like a

20:55 great page so I guess the question is

20:57 why is rap such a good grapple

20:59 um I don't know I don't I i' just be

21:01 training a ton that's oh no [ __ ] that's

21:04 that works for you

21:06 too well why are you such a good that's

21:10 who do you think asked that question it

21:11 was me asking about me but you don't get

21:13 to call yourself Raph you don't go by

21:15 Raph right I don't go by ra at all so

21:17 that you were answering for clearly me I

21:20 get very confused with my name sometimes

21:22 well because you were telling somebody

21:23 earlier when they were uh introducing

21:25 themselves to you are you a junior in

21:27 your family or Junior so like when I

21:29 talk to myself I go by Junior okay but

21:32 like because like I'll come out here and

21:33 people will see like my Instagram they

21:35 automatically just call me rapael so

21:38 that's um we I mean I'm probably G to

21:39 release this but it's a it's a joke um

21:41 LeBron James one time he went to a party

21:44 in the way that they found out that the

21:45 guy didn't belong there it's because he

21:46 called another NBA player by his actual

21:49 name it's like oh that like who is this

21:52 guy like clearly he's not one of us he

21:53 should know you know like uh like we

21:56 don't call him that so when people call

21:58 me like rapael I'm like oh like they

22:01 don't know me like that like you know

22:02 I'm like who is that guy you know but I

22:04 mean when I trained at like CMA the

22:06 whole time it was just rapael Rafael I'm

22:07 like but my name is Junior you know like

22:10 that's all I go by so I just I love the

22:13 fact that there's a fellow Raphael and

22:16 it's always nice to have other versions

22:18 of that but I now realize that name is

22:21 as fake as these

22:22 glasses because I thought I had a no you

22:25 can keep them on I just wanted to put

22:27 you on blast because the people need to

22:28 no you don't need to wear those I have

22:30 to wear these or bad things happen so

22:33 when you came in here being all like oh

22:34 I'm just I'm just getting in my I'm

22:37 embarrassed now my uh my bad bunny phase

22:41 like I'm good bro I need these glasses I

22:43 was like no I just these are lies yes of

22:46 course all right I got one last question

22:48 here it's from Dan Lopez who says why

22:52 are you such a chill guy I'm just a

22:54 chill guy I'm a chill nice guy just you

22:57 supposed to have hands in the pockets be

22:58 I'm just a kill chill guy I just feel

23:00 that big I just happened to fight that's

23:02 that's I just happen to be good at

23:03 sports like good at fighting you

23:06 know I do I have enjoyed that Meme uh oh

23:09 it says why you call him out like that

23:12 listen because I got to Bro Daniel this

23:16 Danny Danny Silva Danny Silva I had to

23:19 man it listen he come on I I love it

23:22 it's all good I'm just saying man I

23:23 gotta be a hard-hitting journalist here

23:25 I gotta ask the questions that people

23:27 are afraid to ask I gotta let people

23:29 know these are fashionable and that's

23:31 all they are that's all they are and

23:33 that if I gave him these he'd be like

23:35 bro I'm worried about your eyesight and

23:37 your future if you're driving so I'm

23:39 just saying a that's funny uh all right

23:42 friends over on the Instagram we're

23:44 gonna say goodbye for now we hope that

23:46 you become members or see this at the

23:48 very least in 30 days but again

23:49 patreon.com backg grappling hour that's

23:52 going to be up in probably a day or so

23:54 so I hope you guys liked this little

23:56 preview and uh thank you for watching

23:58 thank you guys for

24:02 watching all right let's get to the good

24:04 stuff

24:06 now everybody you know the free version

24:08 always gets like the basic version now

24:10 we're gonna get into the actual fight

24:11 because that was fun I just was trying

24:13 to like uh I guess you know Flo learn

24:15 how to like be comfortable on the mic

24:17 brother you you're more comfortable than

24:19 you think you are and I think what's

24:21 cool so I'm a big proponent of doing

24:23 Live Events yeah I feel like interviews

24:26 need to be taped to sometimes get the

24:28 best out of individuals who aren't used

24:32 to being on air yeah they're not used to

24:33 it like whenever we do like a fight

24:35 companion at least there's a mechanism

24:37 that they go oh we're just talking about

24:38 the fights they don't really think like

24:41 oh no I'm on air they just go okay cool

24:43 we're drinking we're talking about it

24:46 sometimes when you do an interview

24:47 people they're nervous or they say

24:48 something they're like hey can we take

24:49 that back or oops I was racist or you

24:52 never know yeah never know I just like

24:54 the idea of making it so comfortable

24:57 that we could do it but maybe in the

24:58 future we'll go back to live I would ask

25:00 this for you we got a little bit of the

25:03 name we got a little bit of your style

25:06 and your fashion sense but I do want to

25:09 pay you a couple compliments before we

25:10 get into the actual fight that you just

25:12 had which is whenever you get to train

25:14 with somebody you get to put together

25:16 parts of your game that you've seen from

25:17 afar and then kind of understand them

25:20 better so when we were rolling today all

25:23 things that checked out good pressure

25:25 good intensity excellent athleticism and

25:27 the way that you combine it with your

25:29 natural Movement Like if this is where

25:31 you're at right now I think the Leaps

25:34 and Bounds that you'll make as a martial

25:35 artist as you grow are going to be very

25:37 impressive to watch so it's very cool

25:40 especially as you're uh looking to go

25:42 into that professional career because it

25:45 tells me you've learned about as much as

25:47 I think you need to be in the Amy scene

25:51 and uh it's very very exciting to see

25:53 that but going back to your last match

25:55 your last fight you ended up winning via

25:57 Guillo

25:59 yeah and I got to be honest with you I

26:01 saw that I was like all right now that I

26:02 know he has that I am not letting him

26:04 Guillotine me at all because it looked

26:08 murderous so you told me that somebody

26:11 yelled that out I need this story on our

26:13 show now because it was confusing I'll

26:16 set the scene I'm interviewing you in

26:19 the cage I see some dude and you go yeah

26:22 this dude was just yelling out hit a

26:25 guillotine I thought you knew the dude

26:27 so what is the story now so I'm going

26:29 tell the full story apparently because

26:31 of the Mexican music and the Spanish

26:33 music I walked out to this guy well I

26:35 found him way later actually but he said

26:37 he was buying a beer or something like

26:38 that and he's heard my song and he ran

26:40 over to the cage to come watch me fight

26:42 just because he heard my exit song He's

26:44 like this is this is it this is awesome

26:46 he's representing for the culture I need

26:48 to go over there and watch this guy

26:49 fight and then uh so I was in the middle

26:51 of the fight was happening actually let

26:54 me backtrack sorry I'm I'm skipping

26:55 details by accident so when I walk in

26:57 the cage I I see this guy yelling across

26:59 from me in the cage and he's yelling

27:01 like you got this you're going to win

27:03 like you know in Spanish he's like don't

27:04 even worry about that other sucker and I

27:06 was like well like I respect for the guy

27:08 but I was like what whatever he thinks

27:11 like I don't even know the guy but he

27:12 was getting my attention and I like all

27:14 right cool and then of course my

27:15 opponent shoot a take down we end up

27:17 close to the fence on his you know

27:18 Corner side but all I can hear is this

27:20 Mexican guy yelling in Spanish like

27:22 choke him and then I hear Guillotine

27:24 he's like go for it he's giving you his

27:25 neck and he actually was I What's worst

27:28 case scenario I mean we've been fighting

27:29 for about 2 minutes almost yeah he like

27:32 worst case have a good Jiu-Jitsu I'll

27:33 get right back up so I I gave me his

27:36 neck and he gave me it a lot easier than

27:37 what I thought he would he left it in

27:39 there and I was like what's going on

27:40 like is this bait maybe he has a really

27:42 good Guillotine defense because I've

27:43 gone against guys like that you can't

27:44 even choke and no I just jumped right

27:47 back on it and he he tapped and then um

27:50 I was like okay cool but you ask me the

27:52 question like how do you know you're

27:53 going to get this G yeah and the only

27:56 thing that came to my mind was give that

27:57 guy props

27:58 cuz I was I couldn't hear my corner I

28:00 was all the way on the opposite side so

28:02 the guy that I actually could hear was

28:04 the guy that was actually right there

28:05 near cagide and it's a guy I didn't even

28:07 know and he's what's funny I thought

28:09 he's like he has to be a trained

28:10 individual he has to be a mar no just a

28:13 regular fan that just wanted to come in

28:14 and just watch some fights and then I

28:16 was like I need to find this guy you

28:18 know like thank him at least it helped

28:20 me in the moment you know and then uh I

28:23 put it on Spar star I tagged them and he

28:24 found me through them and then we got to

28:26 talking and find out he not a martial

28:28 artist not nothing just just the guy

28:30 that yelled full Guam so a random guy

28:33 who does not train had the best

28:36 foresight to know what you needed to get

28:39 the win yeah exactly that's I can't tell

28:42 you how rare that is because in most

28:44 other cases when people have this

28:46 happening to them the dudes who yell in

28:49 the fights have no idea what they're

28:50 talking about they're like hit

28:52 them get out of there you go stand up

28:55 thanks appreciate that so you're telling

28:58 me this Rando Mexican yeah did that so I

29:02 realized the Inception that was

29:04 happening was I'm in a cage Mexican

29:08 asking another Mexican how he did

29:10 something while you're telling me

29:12 another Mexican outside that's a rando

29:15 was the one to actually tell you what to

29:17 do and my brain was just kind of

29:20 exploding because I thought like what's

29:22 happening here and why is this like I go

29:26 this a great story I go away and I see

29:29 on your your stories the next day you're

29:31 like oh this was the random dude that

29:33 yelled at me and I go oh he was super

29:35 that's how random he was it was random

29:37 like didn't have Mt it didn't have

29:38 nothing and you like I thought I thought

29:40 you knew the guy because you seemed so

29:41 familiar and stuff I I was like no I did

29:44 not know that guy at all and he kept

29:45 yelling at me like he was like he's my

29:47 family member like you got this and

29:49 what's funny he posts he's like I'm one

29:50 to know as a coach in MMA

29:53 now imagine that guy when he went home

29:56 and he could tell all his friends like

29:58 bro I know what I'm talking

29:59 about I'm fighter I'm like this but that

30:03 guy must have probably been on the high

30:04 that night too I mean you know what I

30:06 mean uh it may not be a bad idea to

30:08 bring that dude in your corner now you

30:09 just be like hey listen Bud uh if you

30:11 can't be in my corner I need you to buy

30:13 specifically this seat in the house just

30:16 keep him happy and loaded because the

30:19 weirdest part to me and I don't know

30:21 that this made I was trying to figure

30:23 out if it made air I think it's in the

30:26 video you posted but this dude was

30:29 also filming you yeah in the post

30:33 interview so imagine a dude like this

30:35 being like yeah you did it and I go I

30:38 just think he's family because who else

30:41 is doing that that's like that's Theo

30:43 Behavior so I thought he was a Theo to

30:45 you and I just saw him doing this and

30:47 this and I go oh that's really sweet a

30:48 family member and I'm poting like yeah

30:50 this dude just yelled at putting all

30:53 that together the amount I laughed was

30:56 so high when he tagged you what did you

30:58 say to each other after that well we

30:59 just talked I just wanted to find out

31:01 his backstory really the funniest part

31:02 he's like Mexican he's buying a beer and

31:04 then he's like you know what I heard

31:06 with the song I don't know if you

31:07 actually ever listen to It's about a gun

31:08 shootout in Mexico and it's about like

31:10 narcos I was like you know I need this

31:12 I'm about to go into war anyways you

31:13 know yeah and it's a party song It's a

31:16 hardcore Mexican party song So when he

31:18 did it he he was grabbing a beer he's

31:20 like I need I need to rush to the front

31:22 and you see this guy fight he's a Vibe

31:24 like that's that's that's pretty much

31:26 what we got from this he's like dude I'm

31:28 I'm running and he ran cagide apparently

31:31 I don't know if his seats were there I

31:32 don't know what he was doing there he

31:33 had a pass but I I don't know I don't

31:35 know who he was with and what's funny I

31:39 didn't know him but I was such on a high

31:40 I took a picture with him after and I

31:42 was like I do remember but I'm like I

31:44 don't even know this guy I was like I

31:46 thought he honestly I thought he was a

31:47 narco cuz he had a chain on it he had a

31:49 chain he had he looked like he was

31:51 flossing he was cage side I just found

31:53 out he's a regular degular Family

31:55 Guy I was like or I thought he was a

31:58 trained martial artist because he's

31:59 throwing out info I mean it's a pretty

32:02 good wish list so it

32:04 definitely uh it worked because when I

32:08 saw it I go I guess it was some Sound

32:10 Advice it's just it looked so effortless

32:14 and I was applauding obviously the chef

32:17 yeah but also the man who supplied the

32:20 ingredients for that so I don't know man

32:23 I I think it's such a legendary way like

32:25 if that truly is your last Amy

32:28 then it really is a beautiful way to

32:32 exit out of it cuz what other funnier

32:35 thing could have happened yeah it's like

32:37 to me that was straight comedy and then

32:39 like the views on my Instagram I've

32:40 never gotten that much views and then I

32:42 went to my chiropractor and the they

32:44 watch my stories too and they're like

32:46 dude that was so funny about the guy

32:47 like like you found him like like

32:50 apparently that was actually a meme

32:51 going around town it was super hilarious

32:53 and then uh like you said that one video

32:55 he actually was recording himself saying

32:57 like I'm that guy that said it I'm the

32:59 guy that was like that told him you know

33:00 go for the guillotine and I was like

33:02 what the heck yeah but excellent funny

33:05 moment I think I you know that memory

33:07 will be in my life forever as it should

33:09 be because it is so funny to me that an

33:13 audience member could be that right for

33:15 you did that fight go how you expected

33:17 it because to me it just seemed slightly

33:19 unexpected I knew that he would have

33:22 some energy in press and sure it was a

33:25 good takedown but man was at the right

33:27 call in that moment well like I don't

33:29 know like I mean I had the last fight

33:30 that I had before I was I went from

33:32 being out of shape to in shape so I had

33:34 to worry about my cardio plus the

33:35 DraStic way could I had this fight I was

33:38 already in shape I didn't have to worry

33:40 about my cardio I'm like this dude is

33:41 not taking me down when I'm in shape I

33:44 genuinely believe nobody can take me

33:46 down that's one of my little Cockiness

33:48 and stuff like that because I've had UFC

33:49 guys try to take me down I'm like dude

33:50 you only take me down I was like I'm

33:52 pretty good at took it down as long as I

33:53 got the cardio for it we ain't going to

33:55 the mats I'm Jose Aldo you know like

33:59 but uh so when he did that I was like

34:00 dude I refus to after my last fight I'm

34:03 going to strike and I'm just going to

34:04 keep it up on my feet but like I said

34:06 the guy yelled an audible and I was like

34:08 this is mixed martial arts it's not just

34:09 about getting Knockouts and getting

34:10 finishes it's seeing the openings for

34:12 what they give you and he gave me his

34:14 neck you know so you know everything

34:15 played out the way that it should have

34:17 but I didn't play any of that in my

34:18 cards it was not a submission win a

34:20 knockout

34:22 win listen dude I mean I'm not going to

34:24 tell you what the official record says

34:26 but you know something but like I mean

34:28 like I was going for The Knockouts yeah

34:30 yeah okay okay I just love the fact by

34:33 the way I'm glad you told me this now

34:35 because I can't tell if I would have

34:36 been a goon enough if we were starting

34:38 to roll because I was starting just

34:40 pulling guard when we were first

34:42 starting our roll yeah I don't know if

34:45 my competitiveness would have kicked in

34:46 and be like he's like nobody can take

34:48 him down so I was like I'm not well I

34:50 get taken down in practice that's it but

34:52 like like but like in a fight no I know

34:54 in a fight okay I'm glad we clarify

34:58 because again when I heard it I was just

35:01 like oh I wouldn't have tried to do

35:03 that I don't know like full speed full

35:05 adrenaline full goes with punches and

35:07 I'm fighting for my life I'm like

35:09 because you feel not only prepared given

35:13 all of your training but given your

35:15 experiences and what you're good at your

35:18 athleticism does make you hard to

35:20 contain and one of the things I did find

35:22 is you know we weren't necessarily

35:24 wrestling but there were almost like

35:26 ways that I was trying to work what I

35:30 know neutralizes wrestling uh in certain

35:33 positions where I was like oh [ __ ] I've

35:35 got like this go behind here like

35:37 literally just Turtle position and like

35:39 trying to contain because you were so

35:40 [ __ ] elusive in certain ways and I

35:43 think at one point I just heard you kind

35:44 of mutter like oh good wrestling I was

35:46 like I'm not a wrestler and then I was

35:47 like telling you I was like oh you must

35:48 be a wrestler you're like not a wrestler

35:50 and I was like Wow Oh I thought you had

35:53 me fooled I I was completely like this

35:55 dude's definitely got wrestling

35:56 background no no wrestling I uh started

35:58 mixed martial arts this actually we

36:00 coming up on my foury year anniversary

36:02 December I think 12th or 15th I walked

36:04 into MMA gym for the first time never

36:06 wrestled before that didn't wrestle in

36:08 high school no nothing so everything I

36:09 pretty much learned about martial arts

36:11 was from that moment and on so like

36:13 being training you know training

36:15 sessions in my hometown from La whatever

36:17 I've been able to pick up it's just all

36:19 just been in these four years luckily

36:21 I've been you know I dedicate my life to

36:23 this now well you've also been around

36:24 some incredibly talented people uh you

36:27 mentioned training over with the cmma

36:29 guys and Jesus that's a hard day those

36:32 are good those guys are really good it's

36:34 uh just even the little Clips they do

36:37 show it's only just a peak into all of

36:40 their greatness and and how good they

36:42 are uh we were talking about Javi and a

36:44 lot of those guys but dude one of my

36:46 homies in structs there so we're talking

36:49 about George like yeah he's really good

36:53 and dude he'll come up to this gym every

36:56 once in a while and he and I the same

36:57 kind of thing like a marathon roll and

36:59 it's dude it's a hard roll but we have

37:03 so much fun when we do get the chance to

37:07 finally see each other but it's always

37:08 like he's really far I'm really far so I

37:10 go when are we training and he goes man

37:12 as soon as this and he told me recently

37:14 he had an injury and I was like cool but

37:15 I'm trying to train with you with that

37:16 injury because like I can do a couple

37:18 things me in the vage real you know what

37:20 I mean like like you're a little spicy

37:22 already but if this is it I feel like I

37:25 might have an edge this day and he rolls

37:28 when he comes here with like no ego at

37:31 all and we're just always able to

37:32 exchange information so I never got a

37:34 chance to roll with him just yet because

37:36 howby told me he's like wait till you

37:37 roll with him if you start seeing how

37:38 good he really is but he he's Yoda

37:41 that's basically his nickname out there

37:42 he like he knows a counter to the

37:44 counter to the next move to hold

37:47 positioning so a lot of my Jiu-Jitsu

37:49 that I worked with you today like my

37:51 gramy yeah that's from GI George we were

37:53 just working gramy gramy gramy different

37:55 moves also like my standup trying to do

37:57 sit out it's like a lot of that from

37:59 that MMA you know that catch wrestling

38:01 base so that's where my style is

38:03 basically going towards now yeah and

38:04 dude he's I don't know man he is

38:07 definitely our paths crossed at very

38:10 good times where he was open to just

38:13 taking notes or exchanging information

38:17 and then just good spirits like I think

38:19 there was one time we were rolling and

38:22 then we had said we should grab a beer

38:24 or something and I was like brother I

38:25 just brought the beers to us and we

38:26 finished rolling and he's like oh I'll

38:28 definitely drink with you so every once

38:30 in a while he was like are we drinking I

38:31 was like bro I'll always have a beer

38:33 after training it's just he's such good

38:36 times and I've seen him kill it as an

38:39 instructor there like always really good

38:42 as a team honestly but again it's kind

38:44 of how when I'm rolling here especially

38:47 with him it is counter for counter like

38:49 for days it's just literally us just

38:51 seeing what the other one is really good

38:53 at and saying like oh I'm going to take

38:54 note of this I really like this yeah and

38:56 I thought I think gave me one really

38:58 good note about uh trying to work

39:01 something from like a oh God it was like

39:03 a xard or something and we just kind of

39:05 like compared how we do things and he

39:07 was showing me how he was beating it and

39:09 then I was implementing it like a little

39:11 bit later so I was just like dude what a

39:13 good guy he's able to give me such great

39:14 stuff all

39:16 right we did kind of tease this but do

39:20 you think that is the conclusion of your

39:22 amateur career I I do think that's my

39:24 clusion I think I'm I'm becoming 27 in

39:26 January it's time it's like it's the my

39:29 goal is to make it to the UFC it's now

39:31 or never I got to start making a push I

39:33 I got to start getting fights I got to

39:35 start getting wins under my record and

39:37 flashy wins you know so I can get pushed

39:39 even a little faster but yeah I think

39:41 that's pretty much it for my amateur

39:42 career I should be going pro here pretty

39:44 soon just finding the right options you

39:47 know is the drip going to scale up with

39:51 your flashiness as you go professional

39:55 of course of course I mean more money of

39:57 course cuz that's the worst part is you

39:59 know this kid who was in here talking to

40:02 us was telling us that for his bar

40:05 mitzvah he goes I gotta be honest with

40:08 you guys and I'm thinking to myself okay

40:10 what is he trying to tell us he goes I

40:12 spent all that money and I'm like you're

40:14 a child of course you spent all that

40:16 money course spent it he goes but I blew

40:18 it and I go this kid thinks we were

40:19 looking at him like he was going to be

40:21 the most financially aware 13

40:24 14-year-old kid and he's just like yeah

40:27 yeah man I got some regrets I spent it

40:29 all like a dumbass and I go we know yeah

40:32 dude when you're younger it's what

40:34 you're supposed to do but as he's

40:35 telling me this all I'm thinking is you

40:39 and I are talking and I'm like bro if

40:41 this kid had money like that as a kid

40:45 probably would have been even flashier

40:47 back then oh I I don't know if you know

40:49 so in high school I had a whole

40:50 newspaper article made of me I still

40:52 have it I have a newspaper my mom keeps

40:54 a whole bunch of them but it's just

40:55 literally about my whole fashion

40:57 so I got that in high school when that

40:59 dropped in high school everybody like

41:00 hey it's that guy that dresses up but it

41:02 didn't help me with the ladies it got me

41:04 made fun of oh really who was making fun

41:07 of you for that I went to a a very tough

41:10 high

41:11 school and I was like everybody always

41:14 like why are you dressing up why are you

41:16 doing this why it was never like hey you

41:18 looking fly my boy like no it was always

41:20 push back but I never changed were you

41:23 were you kind of a nerd then too because

41:26 you've mentioned your anime love you've

41:29 mentioned certain things that I go oh

41:32 he's a good fighter but he's a nerd at

41:34 heart like look at this super nerd

41:36 honestly no matter what like I'm in I

41:38 love space pretty good at math I would

41:40 have been a lawyer if I wasn't a fighter

41:41 if I got a chance uh to to actually go

41:43 to you know University or school or

41:45 stuff like that um I just like learning

41:49 my brain picks up stuff that's why

41:50 probably in this s of mon timeo Gotten

41:51 Good at MMA probably you know autist

41:54 autistic not even like that but uh

41:57 genuinely like I I don't know what it is

41:59 once I find something I dig deep into

42:01 the rabbit hole and start learning

42:02 everything I possibly can so I mean I'm

42:05 pretty nerdy okay let's start here why

42:08 space like what intrigues you about

42:10 space no honestly it's not actually

42:12 space it's like actually like the like

42:14 okay so imagine like a rocket ship going

42:16 to Mars you do the math how much you

42:18 know energy would it take to exit our

42:19 atmosphere how much how dense is the

42:21 atmosphere of Mars how many miles are we

42:24 away from them like you know like that

42:26 that intrigues me the math the science

42:28 behind of actually why stuff works the

42:29 way that it works but believe it or not

42:31 I'm not even a handsy guy like if you

42:33 told me to like work on my car I'm not

42:34 working on my car but if you tell me I

42:36 mean we got asked earlier to help a

42:39 gentleman that was outside and I have to

42:41 tell you when you were like hey man my

42:44 car is in rough shape people sometimes

42:45 say that like it's a rough drive it's a

42:47 long drive and I'm thinking to myself

42:48 okay no problem I make the turn into

42:51 this place and there is a car that has

42:54 all of its stuff on the outside the hood

42:56 is popped

42:58 it looks um to put it

43:01 gently like even the repo people were

43:05 like no thank you

43:07 sir but when I popped around I was like

43:10 oh I didn't think it was car would be

43:11 that rough and then I drive past it and

43:13 it wasn't him and I gotta tell you when

43:16 I pulled into the spot and it's him in a

43:18 completely different C right next to M I

43:22 shot the biggest look of relief because

43:24 I go no person should be that

43:27 that that rough to come to an interview

43:30 here and I was like I don't know why I

43:33 let myself believe that was going to be

43:34 your car but just because someone had

43:36 put it in my brain like yeah car is

43:38 pretty rough I look at your car I was

43:39 like your car is fine your car is not

43:42 that that's rough sir imagine me like

43:44 spending all my money on all these

43:45 flashy clothes and then driving that car

43:48 that bucket would legitimately have made

43:51 me cry laughing I would have been funny

43:53 and yet and yet this gentleman who was

43:56 outside was like do you got a wrench and

43:58 I was like sir I do not and like he

44:02 asked for the wrench but the weird part

44:04 is I'm not sure how out of place I could

44:07 consider him being that I had all of

44:09 this equipment oh cuz I go I mean I

44:11 guess I do have a lot of stuff but I

44:13 don't have wrench it's all this stuff

44:15 but good luck sir that afterwards he

44:17 goes he's been working on that car for

44:18 hours oh I think he's still there dude

44:20 he still might be there he's he was

44:21 there before we started so we had enough

44:23 time to roll eat he's still there

44:25 another dude gave a private all still

44:27 there and I'm like

44:31 bro and I was laughing so hard because

44:34 he the last question he asked me as I

44:36 was like pulling in lights is he

44:38 goes do do you think you can help me

44:40 with my car real quick and I go I'm not

44:42 a car guy my guy this is not my area of

44:44 expertise this I can tell you how to

44:47 level a mic and get

44:49 this cars you're better on your own dude

44:52 I'm not a car guy I'm definitely not a

44:54 car guy I mean honestly I I wanted I

44:56 used have a buck even worse than the one

44:57 I have now but I wanted to be that guy

45:00 where like I made it to the UFC I got

45:02 money and I'm still driving the bucket

45:03 to practice right right right it's like

45:05 I still want I want to do that maybe of

45:07 course you know make sure it runs right

45:08 and maybe add a stereo system but let me

45:10 let me tell you I think it was Conan

45:13 O'Brien I used to work for The Tonight

45:16 Show he had a very old car that he was

45:19 very proud of got good gas mileage and

45:22 he was very proud of keeping that car

45:24 and you know he was saying like I drive

45:26 his car which he did on occasion but he

45:29 also had like a really fly car that he

45:31 would drive as well you know what I mean

45:32 so I think that's what you want you're

45:34 like oh no the heart of me still a hard

45:36 worker but also check out my Beamer

45:39 whatever well like maybe why not Monday

45:40 through Friday drive you know Drive the

45:42 bucket you know save some gas save some

45:44 money and then on the weekends be you

45:45 know P at the fly car yeah of course you

45:48 know what the other thing is what that

45:49 kid was telling us about he's like that

45:52 guy his dad gave him that car and I was

45:54 like I hate to tell you this kid you're

45:56 going to be a lot people like this in

45:57 this world and I'm happy you bought your

46:00 car cuz he's you know basically saying

46:03 I'm proud I bought my car and he goes I

46:04 have a friend his dad gave him his car I

46:06 go you're gonna meet a few people like

46:08 that especially in this area of the

46:11 world um but you know to each their own

46:15 kid and you're trying to tell them like

46:17 hey they all come in different shapes

46:18 and sizes you don't know who's who but

46:20 that is a nice unifying thing about uh

46:23 grappling and MMA is you do get all

46:25 these random people who have money some

46:26 people who don't don't and you get to

46:27 learn different personality types and

46:29 I'm like dude sometimes the people who

46:30 have no money are the purest of the

46:32 people yeah who will like literally be

46:34 trying to give you money and you're like

46:35 bro you don't have any you need to put

46:37 that away no you get to meet all kinds

46:39 of people in this game I've gotten to

46:40 meet all my like imagine how many

46:42 fighters I've got to me Idols people

46:44 that just walk into the gym and you're

46:45 like dude that guy that guy's the number

46:47 five guy in the world and it's like this

46:49 is pretty cool you don't get to do that

46:50 like if you played basketball at at your

46:52 local park you're not going to run into

46:54 LeBron James but you might like you know

46:56 if you practice your local gym you might

46:57 run into like I wouldn't say Jon Jones

47:00 but if you're in Albuquerque you might

47:01 run into Jon Jones well you yourself

47:03 you've run into Jon Jones yeah I've

47:05 looked at your profile enough to discern

47:10 the fact that you have gotten a lot of

47:13 pictures with a lot of top tier Talent

47:15 yeah how many athletes from the UFC you

47:18 do you think that you have met over the

47:20 years definitely over 20 definitely so

47:23 like I but I'm I'm like a fan girl bro I

47:26 I don't care I'm going to ask for a

47:28 picture I'm like hey this is the once in

47:30 a lifetime opportunity like if my son

47:32 gets to see this one day we'll be like

47:34 hey yo bro my dad was awesome my dad my

47:36 dad was with Jones my dad was with Alex

47:38 like this is cool so I I get to stunt

47:39 you know be what is it called Bill Dad

47:41 lore sure Bill dad who was the nicest

47:45 person who you have met so far from that

47:49 UFC realm or from the MMA there's about

47:51 two or three guys okay um one of the

47:54 guys the the first guy that I met was so

47:56 far Beyond nice was Corey sandhagen like

47:59 okay so when I met some Fighters some

48:01 Fighters just took a picture of me was

48:02 like just keep it moving dog yeah Corey

48:05 took the second to actually shake my

48:06 hand with both of his hands stop look me

48:08 in the eyes and was like how's your day

48:10 going and I was like good brother like

48:13 good you know like and I was like

48:14 expecting to be like the other Fighters

48:15 well that's good what have you been up

48:17 to this weekend I was like um like

48:19 hanging out I don't know I'm in shock

48:22 that it's Cory talking to me like this

48:23 all right cool and then I go to take a

48:25 picture next to him and I'm just doing

48:27 like the little hover like you know I'm

48:28 just going to just going to take a cool

48:29 pick he grabs me and like actually pulls

48:32 me in and puts me into like a hugging

48:33 position like a side picture and I was

48:34 like dude that was cool he was so such a

48:37 genuinely nice down toar guy and then uh

48:40 utos when I trained with him I don't

48:42 know I can't say his last name but it's

48:44 OS Medic or whatever his name is I can't

48:46 I can't say it right super nice I was

48:49 like hey how's your day going he's like

48:50 oh good this that and every single time

48:51 I've ever talked to him straight nothing

48:53 but positive vibes I didn't even know he

48:55 was really in the UFC like that until

48:56 somebody else tagged him in a picture I

48:58 was like this guy's a nice nice guy he

49:00 genuinely will ask you like how's your

49:02 day going and actually look you in the

49:04 eyes and then one time I wanted to quit

49:06 I was on the fan bike and I was like

49:08 done and I laid down like boom and I

49:10 drop on the floor like he's like stand

49:12 up he's like go walk it off like you

49:14 don't never want to be like that you

49:15 know like stand up walk it off a little

49:17 bit so he gives me a whole bunch of tips

49:18 and advice nice and he's super nice guy

49:21 super super nice guy so those are just

49:23 you know two guys that I've met that are

49:25 Beyond nice okay

49:28 I guess the weird part about Corey is I

49:31 think of the most recent crop of maybe

49:35 top five athletes corya stood out with a

49:38 lot of those techniques that he's put up

49:39 and I've seen his personality emerge and

49:42 then I've also seen like this is just a

49:44 cheap pop but when I saw him hit like a

49:46 pedigree and like a blue thunder bomb in

49:49 like his workout because dude as an

49:53 athlete when they say you have to have

49:54 an open workout like what are you really

49:56 going to do yeah you can't give away all

49:58 those you can't you want to give away

49:59 your secrets but then you don't want to

50:01 look like [ __ ] so you kind of want to

50:02 impress the fans with like some short

50:04 pops if you're doing like the pro

50:06 wrestling moves you just go all right

50:08 this is what it is and I'm just trying

50:10 to have fun and I go I think that's what

50:12 I would do and I just looked at him and

50:14 I go and I wouldn't have pegged him as

50:15 being a pro wrestling fan so I

50:17 definitely was surprised and I go look

50:19 at this nerd yeah know honestly he got a

50:21 lot of similar Vibes like same thing for

50:22 me I'm like this guy's a downar guy

50:24 doesn't take himself too serious he just

50:25 happens to be a good martial artist yeah

50:28 that's what I honestly I check out his

50:29 Instagram long time he's on nature walks

50:31 yeah just hanging out and then uh so I

50:34 take a lot from him a lot of inspiration

50:35 I watch his videos yeah and I want to

50:37 say that I feel like he's somebody that

50:39 I think post UFC fight career he'll be

50:42 okay yeah and that always makes me feel

50:43 very good because I go yeah he's got a

50:45 good personality a good internet

50:47 presence that is true to him as a person

50:49 so that makes me uh super stoked and and

50:52 happy to to see you also it's very weird

50:54 because normally when I do research on

50:56 the gu it doesn't always happen where

50:58 the guest does research on me yeah so

51:01 you found photos with an old coach of

51:03 yours where did you find those the coach

51:06 the so the coach gave those to you why

51:09 hold on Al why do you have those just

51:11 accessible to send to people he sent

51:13 them in like no time he's like hey I

51:15 know Rafael like what what's going on

51:17 and then he's like look at this and he

51:18 sent it within like less than a minute

51:20 he had him super accessible and he's

51:23 like yeah he likes pro wrestling too

51:24 that's how I know him I'm like oh what

51:26 the heck yeah the reason why is is like

51:28 there's a photo where Albert was like

51:31 why don't we exchange moves you do a or

51:33 I'll do a figure four and you can do a

51:34 sharpshooter but you should turn it into

51:36 a sharpshooter and I was like sure but

51:38 why are we doing this like I was like

51:40 it's a gag but we always do like a thing

51:42 called WWE BJJ where it's pro wrestling

51:44 in Jiu-Jitsu settings and I always laugh

51:47 because I go well he's a solid black

51:48 belt and he knows what he's doing and

51:50 he's having fun but he was just like

51:52 you're actually enjoying what you do and

51:55 having fun and I want to play too and I

51:57 thought oh that's kind of cool but I was

51:59 just surprised you had that material

52:01 because your Instagram is much briefer

52:05 than mine where there's so much stuff we

52:08 put out over the years where I was like

52:09 how the hell did that manifest itself so

52:12 if I tell you this hold up this is this

52:13 is why it's brief so I didn't have an

52:16 Instagram a couple years into my

52:18 fighting career so I was training at a

52:20 seminar with Brian battle and Brian

52:22 battle had like talked to me dude how do

52:24 you expect to get sponsors yeah dude how

52:25 do you expect to get exposure even be

52:27 seen by the UFC like you need an

52:29 Instagram so he inspired me to actually

52:31 get that's why it's so uh brief but

52:34 actually what I really like posting is

52:35 me with other Fighters I think it looks

52:37 so

52:38 cool I'm taking the picture but I love

52:40 the nice part is I'm glad you said it

52:42 because when I was looking at it I was

52:45 kind of like oh he really is a fan girl

52:48 but you were like I'm a fan girl like

52:50 you're just like I'm a groupy but I

52:51 gotta say though look at this man I

52:54 think I think we need to understand

52:57 that not only is this a fantastic shirt

53:00 but like this is the way to meet

53:02 somebody because if I was him I would

53:04 look at this and be like whoa bro

53:07 brother that looks so good oh man I love

53:09 that photo of me oh where did you find

53:11 that from like that's how he would be if

53:13 he saw that because sometimes people

53:15 make merch with your face on it or your

53:17 likeness on it and it's kind of there

53:19 I'm like yo that's a lit freaking shirt

53:21 bro yeah it's it's finding the happy

53:22 medium where you have like a fashionable

53:24 shirt of yourself like it can't just be

53:26 like like eh I'm not going to wear that

53:28 ever other than like going to a fight

53:29 and like supporting you know yeah but I

53:32 mean this is to me it's a fire St and

53:33 it's my favorite fighter that you know

53:35 he's your favorite fighter right now my

53:36 favorite well he's been he's been my

53:37 favorite fighter uh just the way he

53:39 carries himself the way he's a family

53:41 man the way he's always in a even win or

53:44 lose he's always in a fantastic fight oh

53:46 yeah even watching him get knocked out

53:48 there was like a a collective like H was

53:52 hurt just it hurt our soul but you knew

53:55 it was likely

53:57 yeah as a possibility because again just

53:59 his style and the wars he's been in you

54:01 go ah it's possible and then I

54:03 remembered seeing it and thinking like

54:06 well my weekend has been ruined oh no

54:09 and I'm a Robert Whitaker fan too so it

54:10 was I was like no I'm just I'm just a

54:13 fan of nice guys you know just a chill

54:15 guy just a chill guy indeed why don't we

54:18 take it back a step why don't we get to

54:19 know where martial arts found its way

54:22 into your life you know you were

54:24 alluding to it a little bit earlier

54:26 where where you know you were an athlete

54:28 I'm assuming you were playing basketball

54:30 and you made a really good analogy by

54:32 the way for your basketball and you're

54:34 striking and how that parallel went but

54:37 it tells me that you were an athlete

54:38 before any time you were a mixed martial

54:40 artist so when I was young actually like

54:42 my my brother-in-law my sister the first

54:44 time I ever met my brother-in-law I

54:45 think I was like seven eight years old

54:48 maybe and the first time I met him is

54:49 when they took me to go watch Chuck

54:50 Liddell fight so I was like seven or

54:52 eight years old already like interested

54:54 in fighting and then I remember when I

54:55 was like actually probably around that

54:57 same age I watched Pride because I

54:58 actually thought it was WWE I saw the

55:00 ring and like these guys aren't doing

55:02 Swan BS out the top row like these guys

55:04 suck these guys don't know what real

55:06 fighting is like this is so boring but I

55:08 didn't know what I was watching so i'

55:10 had been a fan maybe since six years old

55:12 even maybe actually but what people

55:14 don't know is like my dad and my mom

55:16 used to come down to Los Angeles all the

55:18 time and back then you had to get DVDs B

55:21 doesn't have any DVDs so I would stop at

55:23 the Pilot in Castaic and they had the

55:25 old UFC one all the way to like 100 at

55:27 that time when I was like a little kid

55:29 and every time that we stopped there I'd

55:31 force them to buy me the DVDs I would

55:33 literally be like I'm GNA buy this I'm

55:35 gonna get it and I would watch the

55:36 fights from bottom all the way to top

55:38 and I'd become super like I think my

55:40 favorite fighter of all time at the

55:41 beginning was Anderson Silva the way he

55:43 was finishing people I was like this is

55:45 this is Art this is beauty you know and

55:47 then stuff like that but uh my mom was I

55:49 asked her was like hey can I join MMA

55:50 cuz I was playing the video game so much

55:52 and she was like um no son like I don't

55:54 want you getting hit like your face you

55:57 know and then that like you know moms

55:59 they don't want you in danger so I never

56:00 joined it you know life goes on I'm

56:03 slowly playing football basketball I do

56:05 track and always super athletic but uh

56:08 one day I woke up like I think I was

56:10 working like a a warehouse job and I was

56:12 like and I was listening to Joe Rogan's

56:13 podcast so much the one that really

56:15 inspired me to two podcasts was Max

56:17 holloways and isra Adas where they like

56:19 really talked about it how anybody could

56:21 be you know actually do it so I was like

56:23 you know what I'm I'm going to go try it

56:25 out so I I quit my job and I went to

56:28 like so I could because I was working

56:30 night shifts was like if I do MMA I

56:31 can't I can't work this job no more so I

56:34 I went to go chase my dream but I had

56:37 hyped it up to all my friends like hey

56:38 I'm G to be this MMA fighter I'm G to do

56:40 this and I had gone into crazy [ __ ]

56:41 before I walked into the gym and then I

56:43 got punched in the nose in the face and

56:45 I felt like my like brain rattled the

56:47 back of my head I was like dude I got to

56:48 quit it's like but I HED it up so much

56:51 to all my friends that I was like dude

56:53 like I can't quit now I got to stay in

56:55 it and you know it's been Off to the

56:57 Races ever since that's pretty much how

56:59 how my MMA story kind of got started do

57:01 you remember walking into your

57:03 first I mean I usually ask first

57:05 Jiu-Jitsu class but did like an MMA

57:08 class happen first or what exactly was

57:10 your first experience I went into a

57:12 dungon like it was it was the Wild West

57:15 in our old gym we had our coach I mean

57:17 there's a method to the manness but he's

57:19 a wild guy he's like hey you walked in

57:22 week one you're going to go Spar the

57:23 champ over there he's like you're going

57:25 to war on a Monday you're going to war

57:28 back tomorrow the next day so what's

57:30 crazy is my team we had a lot we had a

57:32 lot of success when we were all together

57:34 like it just it just made Killers cuz we

57:36 were literally fighting each other in

57:37 the gym and everybody was trying to be

57:39 the best guy in there and we don't know

57:41 the knowledge of fighting we don't

57:42 understand like the brain damage and all

57:43 that stuff and the Damage you take on

57:44 your body so we were just going to war

57:47 in with no technique and we're just

57:48 trying to figure stuff out so um yeah

57:51 know with time luckily you know we got

57:52 pretty

57:54 good I mean I'm glad that worked I I do

57:57 want to go to your first Jiu-Jitsu class

57:59 because again grappling hour we like to

58:01 always profile that what do you remember

58:03 about your first grappling class so I

58:05 had played the video game so much and I

58:08 kind of and watched so much UFC I knew

58:10 the positioning I just didn't know how

58:12 do you say how to get out of stuff like

58:14 you know of course you know white belts

58:15 or like newbies I was a spaz was like

58:17 get off me get off me move but I didn't

58:19 do too bad like the first day I was

58:21 catching people in submissions and stuff

58:23 and people were like you've trained Jiu

58:24 Jitsu before I was like no I just play

58:26 the video game and watch so much UFC I

58:28 have the knowledge and then I didn't

58:30 have to learn the language like learning

58:31 like oh this is side control this is

58:33 half guard this is guard I already knew

58:35 what it was I already had uh what's the

58:37 saying like your cup was full you know

58:39 like you already had water in your cup

58:41 pretty much you know it's knowledge so

58:43 that's that's what I remember my first

58:44 one I really actually don't really

58:46 remember it I don't remember it fully

58:48 but I remember like rolling with people

58:50 and I was like okay cool but I remember

58:51 people telling me like hey yo like looks

58:53 like you've rolled before like you've

58:54 had Jiu-Jitsu experience before but I

58:56 just didn't know and then I was a wild

58:58 kid so I'd practice these moves on my

59:00 cousins like when I was a kid so I would

59:03 just like we do WWE and we would do

59:05 fighting we put on the gloves we do all

59:07 that stuff so to me it wasn't like

59:10 different to like how to manage a body I

59:12 was like okay this is where weight this

59:13 is where how you get counterweight and

59:15 uh positioning so that's that's kind of

59:17 all that I remember honestly when you

59:19 were doing the WWE were you the guy

59:21 winning or was it yeah okay did you have

59:24 a finishing move and if so was it I I

59:27 like the swan Tom bomb so you were a

59:29 high I was jump I literally would get

59:31 the ladder and get my like like

59:33 literally jump onto the couch with my

59:34 cousin on top of it or like jump off my

59:36 bunk bed I was I was wild I don't know I

59:40 have okay I don't know if you noce I

59:41 have eight scars on my head okay from

59:44 Stitches over my lifetime like different

59:46 I have my eyebrow cut I have like a scar

59:48 on top of my head one giant one in the

59:50 back I was I was just a wild child I

59:53 just what did your mom say to all this I

59:55 think I think my family got used to

59:57 it I didn't have any broken bones but

1:00:00 like I was constantly always having to

1:00:02 go to the ER to get stitches and like

1:00:04 now like when I get cut I'm like all

1:00:06 right yeah I was all right and then um

1:00:09 there was really a funny moment in high

1:00:10 school we were playing basketball and

1:00:12 this guy's head collides in with mine

1:00:13 it's the big old scar I have over my

1:00:15 eyebrow okay it was 27 stitches um and

1:00:19 then I was like damn I hate when this

1:00:21 happens that's what like my friend to

1:00:22 this day says like you didn't weren like

1:00:24 ow this hurts you were like damn I hate

1:00:26 when this happen cuz I had I had so many

1:00:28 stitches by that time I like ah this

1:00:30 sucks now I just have to go to the ER so

1:00:32 I mean if it happens in a fight it'll

1:00:34 happen in a fight you know I think get

1:00:36 just I mean it bodess well for your pain

1:00:38 tolerance I think yeah and usually

1:00:41 that's something you kind of need to

1:00:42 have because I don't I don't think this

1:00:45 is really something that you go without

1:00:46 paying in um I just love the fact that

1:00:50 we introduced you today to the concept

1:00:53 of a gimmick pin when we're rolling and

1:00:56 it was so funny because when I was doing

1:00:59 it you had no clue until the third count

1:01:03 when you go one two what is he doing oh

1:01:05 [ __ ] and then you had this moment where

1:01:07 you were like wait and I always think to

1:01:12 myself it's a fun way to play and you're

1:01:14 like I think I'm gonna do this to my

1:01:16 trading partners now oh yeah I'm

1:01:17 Wrecking white bu

1:01:19 that

1:01:21 because it tells me this is why I'm

1:01:23 asking if you were the one that went

1:01:25 over so was this planned did you have a

1:01:27 predetermined winner because when you

1:01:30 said that you won was this you

1:01:31 legitimately beating them or was this

1:01:34 you being like no man I'm flashy I'm

1:01:36 falling off the top of that ladder onto

1:01:38 you and that's the end of the match I I

1:01:40 don't like to lose so like when my

1:01:42 cousins was like we were fight and I'm

1:01:43 like I'm winning every fight like I

1:01:46 don't still to this day I don't know I

1:01:48 just kind of always had it like my

1:01:49 cousins talk to me nowadays and they're

1:01:51 like dude I remember when you were

1:01:52 little you were already trying all these

1:01:53 moves on us and it wasn't like the fact

1:01:56 that they could do anything to stop

1:01:58 these moves of course we little they

1:02:00 probably let me SW Tom bomb them but you

1:02:01 know but we would literally wrestle and

1:02:04 I would always just be the winner I mean

1:02:07 I just I liked them I even bought my

1:02:09 first UFC gloves and had my like me and

1:02:11 my cousin duke it out in the back it was

1:02:13 it was yeah how did that go so my dad

1:02:17 bought him I was always traveling always

1:02:19 doing the stuff I was such a hardcore

1:02:21 UFC fan as a kid he bought me the the

1:02:23 UFC belt The Pride belt in the wec belt

1:02:26 you can actually buy them still online

1:02:27 I'm buy them put in my room I'm buy

1:02:30 actually not that remembering so you can

1:02:32 literally buy like the velro ones like

1:02:33 the fake ww ones and stuff and I used to

1:02:35 have the WW ones of course but but one

1:02:38 day I found out you could actually buy

1:02:40 the UFC gloves with the logo on it oh

1:02:42 yeah and I went hunting for them I don't

1:02:44 know where we went and my dad's like all

1:02:46 right cool I finally gone for you and

1:02:47 they were expensive back in the days

1:02:48 like $50 in 2008 was a ton of money so

1:02:52 the fact that they got me them was cool

1:02:54 and I had me and my cousin put them on

1:02:56 and we would just like oh we're going to

1:02:57 go Spar in the back I would have the

1:02:59 neighborhood kids sparring against me in

1:03:01 the back like you know with UFC gloves

1:03:03 but I was such a huge fan to me it was

1:03:05 like playing I didn't realize people

1:03:06 were probably getting

1:03:08 hurt it's so funny I just there's a part

1:03:11 of me that thinks whenever I see stuff

1:03:14 like this that

1:03:17 obviously it does make sense that you

1:03:20 were going to become a mixed Marshal

1:03:22 artist yeah like I don't know there's

1:03:24 many doctor range one and lank million

1:03:28 PE opportunities for something else to

1:03:30 happen like it seemed like everything

1:03:32 was building to you being a

1:03:34 fighter but a lot of it seems so

1:03:37 specifically designated to the UFC where

1:03:40 you're like I've met these UFC fighters

1:03:41 I bought the UFC gloves I had the UFC

1:03:44 belt I even had the pride belt like you

1:03:46 were there hardcore fan I was actually

1:03:48 really good at the video game really I

1:03:50 was I would whoop everybody in the video

1:03:52 game I just I I loveed I loved MMA like

1:03:55 the art of MMA from when I was little so

1:03:57 like now like genuinely like I like the

1:03:59 fighting nerds because that that

1:04:01 explains me perfectly like I'm literally

1:04:03 a fighting nerd it's not just fighting

1:04:05 it's there's art to it there's technique

1:04:07 we're playing like a gambling chess

1:04:09 match you know so um but also like you

1:04:11 said like the UFC that's that's where

1:04:14 the best fighters in the world are at um

1:04:16 I don't I mean I could do stuff I could

1:04:18 just quit fighting and I can go make

1:04:20 money yeah I can go do a regular job I

1:04:22 feel like I'm smart enough to learn

1:04:23 whatever I would want to learn and my

1:04:24 brain is still fine but it doesn't

1:04:26 fulfill me it's like what gives me

1:04:29 purpose and meaning is like okay cool I

1:04:30 set myself to be on this goal to try to

1:04:32 become the UFC champion it's a big goal

1:04:35 and it's like you know I'm gonna I'm

1:04:36 gonna go for it you know that's that's

1:04:38 always been my goal is to try to become

1:04:39 the best fighter in the world and I'm

1:04:40 gonna try doing it okay yeah so we

1:04:42 talked about your flashiness we talked

1:04:45 about obviously your pant for style oh

1:04:50 but then I'm looking at photos like this

1:04:52 yeah and we see that your parents went

1:04:55 from

1:04:56 buying you belts to you now having your

1:05:00 own belts and then you're not just

1:05:02 having your own belts you're like no I

1:05:03 need to be in my suit with them and not

1:05:06 only that but at a study with a very

1:05:10 very strong background full of books and

1:05:14 a shelf of mahogany and that you're like

1:05:18 N I need I need to do a photo shoot with

1:05:20 this because I've seen you holding five

1:05:22 belts at once and I just thought like oh

1:05:25 good Lord I don't have anywhere near

1:05:27 that many BTS let alone that it's not

1:05:30 fun it's not practical it's not

1:05:31 practical it's bad you can't carry them

1:05:33 nowhere can't use your hands I mean it's

1:05:35 a good problem to have but it's it's

1:05:37 it's a problem it is definitely

1:05:39 something it's a first world problem is

1:05:41 what you're describing it is you're just

1:05:43 like oh these belts they're so heavy I'm

1:05:45 so sorry I'm so famous and uh good at

1:05:47 fighting but to me I just I laughed so

1:05:52 hard seeing you do those because I also

1:05:55 do I was like yeah that is going to be

1:05:56 pretty heavy fam I don't know how you're

1:05:57 going to be able to do that but the

1:05:58 second part is me thinking to

1:06:00 myself I mean that's kind of the stuff

1:06:04 that you talk about that like why it's

1:06:06 so good that family members like parents

1:06:08 buy you those things because they tell

1:06:10 you it's possible yeah and then you have

1:06:12 the Fulfillment of achieving those goals

1:06:14 and those dreams of being an MMA being a

1:06:17 champion in there and then saying like

1:06:19 you know that's why you feel so

1:06:21 confident youve made the right choice

1:06:23 because when people mention they

1:06:25 competitive I'm like I don't know man

1:06:26 you probably would have been a pretty

1:06:27 good lawyer with that competition drive

1:06:30 you know like you need to be able to

1:06:32 fight for a client in a certain way and

1:06:34 you need somebody who's hardcore

1:06:36 competitive I do ask this of many people

1:06:38 and I will ask you this when you say

1:06:41 you're competitive can you give me an

1:06:43 example that might demonstrate outside

1:06:46 of the Mixed Martial Arts world what

1:06:48 makes you competitive in a way that has

1:06:50 been embarrassing at any point or time

1:06:53 embarrassing myself or something like

1:06:54 that no well it like

1:06:56 this have you ever been the person that

1:06:59 somebody says I don't want to play this

1:07:00 game with you because you're too

1:07:01 competitive every game

1:07:04 game so uh so yeah legitimately I I

1:07:09 don't make the game fun because like

1:07:10 okay like I said I'm I'm I'm not even

1:07:12 tweeting my own heart I'm a nerd for

1:07:14 everything and anything okay so if we're

1:07:16 playing The Simpsons board game I'm a

1:07:17 hardcore Simpson fan I know every I know

1:07:20 as much episodes as you can okay I'm

1:07:21 watching One Piece it's 1,300 episodes

1:07:24 so I was when I joined I was unemployed

1:07:26 for two years this is the co time I went

1:07:28 through watching every Harry Potter

1:07:31 every Lord of the Rings everything

1:07:33 that's a series that people talk about

1:07:35 I've watched it so you're so it's like a

1:07:37 a almost like a trivia based as well

1:07:40 like you know whatever you want to win

1:07:42 at everything you want to know more than

1:07:44 everybody else at that yeah it's like

1:07:46 I'm not going to lose and it's it's kind

1:07:48 of it just doesn't become fun for my

1:07:49 family no more cuz we play a game and

1:07:52 most likely you know I'm going to win

1:07:54 wow it's like it's and and I'm like ah

1:07:56 I'm just going to try to like not really

1:07:57 take it too serious and not be

1:07:59 competitive but

1:08:01 no I I don't care if it's a kid in my

1:08:03 family I don't care if it's a

1:08:04 10-year-old I'm I'm winning I I will say

1:08:07 there was a brief moment at the very

1:08:09 beginning of our role where you go you

1:08:11 can do this and I

1:08:12 go and we're just starting and I just

1:08:15 thought to myself I was like you don't

1:08:17 need to tell me this unfortunately I'm

1:08:18 better at roasting than you are so I was

1:08:20 like I feel I feel like we're we're

1:08:22 going to be okay but the reason why it's

1:08:24 somewhat jarring is your role

1:08:28 was competitive in its athleticism but

1:08:32 not uh bad competitive like it's a fun

1:08:35 competitive where I was like oh okay we

1:08:37 can have this we could flow here he's

1:08:38 doing this this is really strong this

1:08:40 movement's there I roll with people who

1:08:42 are like I'm not giving you an inch when

1:08:43 it's just the fun roll and I go oh [ __ ]

1:08:45 it's going to be a hard day at the

1:08:46 office I didn't get the sense that if I

1:08:48 was going to play like Candyland with

1:08:50 you that you're going to be

1:08:52 like let run it back let's go let's do

1:08:55 it again again yeah you got that dumb

1:08:57 shoot I don't I didn't see that some

1:08:58 [ __ ] run this back one more

1:09:01 time no no but I'm I'm like a super nice

1:09:03 guy and I understand like we're having

1:09:05 fun it's a good role now no no no but

1:09:08 now now no no no now I'm getting into

1:09:09 the important no no no no it's not it's

1:09:10 not that it's like um like I don't know

1:09:12 how to explain it like uh I we're here

1:09:15 like I don't want to get like injured I

1:09:17 don't want to injure you so it's like

1:09:19 why you know I'm just going to tap no

1:09:21 reason to kind of wake up the next day

1:09:23 but think about it like this those

1:09:25 people are the ones when they say

1:09:27 they're competitive at board games or

1:09:29 like a family trivia night or something

1:09:31 like that that I go yeah that makes

1:09:32 sense I was like dude you seem so chill

1:09:34 and like to relax that now you're

1:09:36 telling me like no rap for your own

1:09:38 benefit uh but I will ask this because I

1:09:40 do ask this of competitive people how

1:09:42 are you at poker I don't I don't I don't

1:09:44 enjoy so um there's another thing I

1:09:47 don't like taking risk really I'm not a

1:09:50 risk taker I'm not a gambler I don't

1:09:52 like if there's a risk factor in it I

1:09:55 that's the same thing I kind of like I'm

1:09:58 not not spilling nothing but like I

1:09:59 fight I'm there to win y I'm not there

1:10:02 to do something stupid I'm not there to

1:10:04 brawl with you I'm not there to play

1:10:05 your game I'm there to win that is my

1:10:08 one goal I'm not going to go into ego

1:10:09 battle with you like some guys like oh

1:10:11 you won't meet me like the max Hol you

1:10:12 won't meet me in the middle of the cage

1:10:14 no I don't want me in the cage that's

1:10:15 stupid that's that's dumb I'm not dumb

1:10:17 either like you know like I'm

1:10:18 competitive but it's it's not stupidity

1:10:20 either you know so this just kind of

1:10:22 like that it's kind of mixture of stuff

1:10:24 honestly it makes me appreciative

1:10:25 because I my wife and I told people when

1:10:27 we played darts with them we realized

1:10:29 they were hyper competitive and we were

1:10:31 the comic relief but like every of we

1:10:34 beat them but if we didn't win it wasn't

1:10:36 like damn it was just being like all

1:10:38 right I'm gonna go another drink you

1:10:39 guys want some like okay fun that's how

1:10:42 I like to think I'm with most of the

1:10:43 times but my wife does say 10 people in

1:10:47 your life you are very competitive with

1:10:50 everybody else you're like oh my God you

1:10:52 beat that was great good job he like but

1:10:54 those 10 people you're like

1:10:55 no not today we're play something else

1:10:58 today she's like you get real quiet and

1:11:03 very like in your Zone like now that's

1:11:06 you at your most competitive and she

1:11:08 goes and it gets weird because it's

1:11:10 people that you dearly love and that

1:11:13 you're always like yeah so like the the

1:11:15 gym owner here when we roll it is it is

1:11:19 a competitive and then if we're playing

1:11:21 a game it's a competitive game so he's

1:11:24 one of the people that I very much enjoy

1:11:26 but I had even told him at one point

1:11:28 because there were years where he and I

1:11:29 weren't tapping each other oh dang like

1:11:32 yeah years just that it was just he's

1:11:34 really good I'm good at my thing it

1:11:37 would just be stalemates with times oh

1:11:39 what the heck and it was aggravating to

1:11:42 him because he's very good yeah and he's

1:11:45 like I'm beating you positionally and I

1:11:48 was like cool but are you holding me

1:11:50 down for the cops to come like is that

1:11:52 the way you roll and you're proud of

1:11:53 yourself you're not submitting me he's

1:11:55 like but I'm beating you I was like okay

1:11:57 ibjjf points look at here good job so

1:12:01 that kind of back and forth was her

1:12:03 being like yeah you guys are

1:12:04 insufferable attack well me like me and

1:12:07 my girlfriend I don't let her win oh she

1:12:09 I don't let her win anything from the

1:12:11 moment we started dating cuz she's a

1:12:12 basketball player I was used to be a

1:12:13 basketball player so super competitive

1:12:15 when it comes to that first date I took

1:12:17 her to go shoot hoops I

1:12:19 won talk so I was like I'm not letting n

1:12:23 this ain't flying to me just because

1:12:24 we're in a lovey duy date you know I'm a

1:12:27 Hooper I'm a Hooper first and foremost

1:12:29 you know so it's like I had to represent

1:12:31 but it it just comes out in spurts I

1:12:33 think you you were saying earlier like

1:12:34 it just depends yeah like I'll tap to

1:12:36 somebody I don't know but if it's my

1:12:38 coach or if it's my friend I'm not

1:12:40 tapping probably not I'm not tapping at

1:12:42 all it's getting yeah I understand that

1:12:44 I'm I'm okay with that it's just it's

1:12:46 profiling the type of competitiveness

1:12:49 and it was one that I was like oh I

1:12:51 relate to this like this is just good

1:12:53 trading it's not too people trying to

1:12:55 kill each other and then going like well

1:12:57 now we're going to have to do an

1:12:58 interview this is going to get real

1:12:59 weird real quick and be like yeah dude

1:13:02 how many times I get you versus you know

1:13:04 what I mean like that kind of thing well

1:13:06 you got me three times no no that was

1:13:08 the hypothetical no no no I think he I

1:13:11 think he's been dropped this gu really

1:13:13 good I'm all right but what I can tell

1:13:14 you is I think the only one that hurt

1:13:16 you severely was getting pinned and I

1:13:20 was just like that was the one where you

1:13:22 you got bothered and then you

1:13:24 immediately started being like no my

1:13:25 shoulders up and I was just like oh I

1:13:28 probably will do that better than the

1:13:30 actual submissions and I will say I'm

1:13:32 not going to say or confirm deny any of

1:13:34 these things for the submissions but I

1:13:36 will tell you there were three pins so

1:13:38 I'm very proud of myself for that oh

1:13:40 yeah no I when as soon as you pinned me

1:13:42 I was

1:13:44 like cuz we had talked about act before

1:13:46 like I'm yeah I'm gonna pull out my WWE

1:13:48 wrestling moves on you and I'm like all

1:13:50 right go ahead you can try them and then

1:13:52 I forgot about it I was I was I was such

1:13:54 in the the roll then I heard this loud

1:13:56 th on the mat boom I was like what is he

1:13:59 doing is he going like is he trying to

1:14:00 play on his feet that was weird you do

1:14:02 it again like like what's going on here

1:14:05 like I've never seen that third one I

1:14:06 was like click oh one two CL I was like

1:14:11 oh I just got pinned he did I did not

1:14:13 realize and then I realized I was like I

1:14:15 gotta get him back for those people that

1:14:17 took the Falls when he was Swant toning

1:14:20 them back in the day I just didn't know

1:14:21 it yet now I know I was like yo I was

1:14:24 coming for you yes cuz I bet you this

1:14:26 dude was like tonight you're taking the

1:14:28 fall after the Swanton there's no

1:14:30 kicking out of my finisher that's what

1:14:31 you had to do and I like that's why I

1:14:33 was like wait did you do a planned or an

1:14:35 unplanned you're like they knew it was

1:14:37 planned if it was good for them you know

1:14:40 not to get beat up by me but I just was

1:14:42 like well this dude clearly was pitting

1:14:44 people back in the day so I'm like I

1:14:45 feel no problem doing this to him now

1:14:47 but you did say you're going to do it to

1:14:49 other people so I feel like I'm passing

1:14:50 it on oh no that's actually an awesome

1:14:52 tradition like I didn't realize it

1:14:54 that's that's cool well the one reason

1:14:56 why I knew it was working is because

1:14:57 then he tried to do it to me and I was

1:14:59 like no brother my shoulder's up and

1:15:00 then afterwards he's doing the same

1:15:03 thing where he's like actually I'm a

1:15:04 little there I'm just crunching I was

1:15:05 like well we can we can fix this real

1:15:07 quick like this should a down the worst

1:15:09 part was he's so flexible that at

1:15:11 certain points he would do kind of a gry

1:15:14 and like part of his shoulder would be

1:15:16 on the mat and he'd be like trying to

1:15:19 let me pass but like opening his guard

1:15:22 and I was like dude this shoulder is

1:15:23 down as well now like I was like I don't

1:15:26 think he's realizing now that this is

1:15:28 just like a rollup pin as well you're

1:15:29 technically getting rolled up I was like

1:15:31 bro I mean it's still I may not be

1:15:33 getting the pass but I am getting the

1:15:34 pin so I'm just saying I thought that

1:15:37 was cool honestly I'm gonna start doing

1:15:38 that just to everybody I roll with now

1:15:40 pleas and when you hit it please let me

1:15:42 know because I feel like I'm passing it

1:15:44 on but I knew once I set us down that

1:15:47 path I was like the next time we roll

1:15:49 This is 100% what he's going to try and

1:15:51 do to yeah I know for sure but we

1:15:53 discovered today he cannot so I think in

1:15:55 a good space Oh no no next time I'm

1:15:58 going work on my game I'm going to

1:16:00 listen I I want you to go back I want

1:16:01 you to bring a better game I know you

1:16:03 will you're a gamer but I'm just like

1:16:05 you know that you were trying to do it

1:16:06 to me and you saw it wasn't working

1:16:08 didn't

1:16:09 happen like best the best was when he

1:16:12 did this he goes that's on film isn't it

1:16:14 and I was like Hey brother I'm not I'm

1:16:16 not cutting it as long as you act right

1:16:19 I was like you act out of hand I'm like

1:16:21 that footage is going to release itself

1:16:22 very quickly I wouldn't I wouldn't mind

1:16:24 if it's released I find it funny I find

1:16:26 everything in Good Humor I do do this

1:16:28 though sometimes I'll hit some of the

1:16:29 guys with like a Boston crab like legit

1:16:31 catchit or something like that and I

1:16:33 always have to hit them up and be like

1:16:35 hey this okay is this cool because it's

1:16:37 a meme and I don't know who watches our

1:16:40 stuff sometimes a lot of people

1:16:42 sometimes no people sometimes a lot a

1:16:44 lot of people I don't know what the

1:16:46 internet takes hold of at any given time

1:16:48 it runs with it and we just did one of

1:16:50 hallway with my buddy he was watching

1:16:52 the fight with us we had a fight

1:16:54 companion here and we zoomed in on him

1:16:56 watching hallay lose and I'll show it to

1:16:58 you off air in a second yeah but it was

1:17:01 like watching him incredibly stressed

1:17:04 and then destroyed and I just put uh

1:17:07 what is it my December from or My

1:17:09 Immortal by uh Evan Essence and it's the

1:17:14 saddest song that he's just

1:17:18 like and I had to send him a note I had

1:17:21 edited this piece it took me about an

1:17:22 hour and I go hey man is this cool and

1:17:24 he goes

1:17:26 it's beautiful send it and I was like

1:17:29 okay that's great so he I knew people

1:17:32 were going to relate to that story

1:17:33 because they're like dude nobody wants

1:17:34 to watch Hall L have you watched The

1:17:36 Simpsons like you watch like I don't

1:17:38 know how recent though yeah no it's an

1:17:40 old episode this is a scene where Lisa

1:17:41 Simpson breaks Ral wiggum's heart and

1:17:44 Bart's like look you can see exactly

1:17:46 when his heart's broken and it's like

1:17:47 Ral going oh exactly that because we

1:17:52 literally watched it happen and it

1:17:55 wasn't like I wasn't sad it's just I've

1:17:57 seen so many sad things in my life that

1:17:59 I just

1:18:00 go just sucks you know it ruined my

1:18:03 morning a little bit it sucks and I was

1:18:07 just like damn but I went on with my day

1:18:09 like it's not me fighting at the end of

1:18:10 the day you know so it's you do have

1:18:12 more involved in yourself yeah and

1:18:16 you're a big fan but not everybody

1:18:18 fights MMA where they get that release

1:18:20 of doing their own fighting where

1:18:22 they're like man I'm just bummed

1:18:25 and then all of a sudden you're like if

1:18:27 you don't fight you go that was my dude

1:18:28 it felt like somebody one of your homies

1:18:30 got [ __ ] up you know so I I could

1:18:33 understand that uh as we start to Circle

1:18:35 here I would like to ask this usually we

1:18:38 ask the grappling side which is when did

1:18:40 you fall in love with jiu-jitsu but I'll

1:18:42 open it up to you because MMA is such a

1:18:45 huge critical part of your life when did

1:18:47 you fall in love with MMA that you

1:18:48 decided you were going to do it as more

1:18:50 than just a hobby so actually I like

1:18:53 Jiu-Jitsu first I like ji Jitsu a lot

1:18:55 more than I like striking I didn't like

1:18:56 getting in the face I hate I hated it in

1:18:58 the beginning I was like dude this is

1:19:00 stupid just take him to the ground and

1:19:01 you take no damage like you know and

1:19:04 then I slowly started falling in love

1:19:05 with striking you know but uh MMA has

1:19:07 been probably a love of my life since I

1:19:09 was a little kid I we talked about a

1:19:10 little bit earlier like um but when I

1:19:12 actually started training at it I was

1:19:14 like I was I was really like a natural

1:19:16 at Jiu-Jitsu that's what I like doing I

1:19:18 would go watch videos I'd watch YouTube

1:19:20 clips Instagram reals and I was like

1:19:22 this is this is what I got to try the

1:19:24 next day oh I see a gramby oh I seen

1:19:26 this I seen that so I tried it not

1:19:27 knowing the actual technique but if it

1:19:30 worked it worked you know stuff like

1:19:31 that I'm I'm really a big visual learner

1:19:33 you just have to show me something one

1:19:35 time and I'll learn it forever pretty

1:19:37 much that's how I am but uh with MMA I

1:19:40 think one day I got a knockout and I was

1:19:43 just like yeah we're striking now I like

1:19:45 this is this is awesome I didn't I

1:19:47 didn't know I had knockout power I

1:19:49 always thought like I was just going to

1:19:50 be a regular de guy probably tough you

1:19:52 know and then started getting a couple

1:19:54 Knockouts and is like you know what

1:19:56 screw that Jiu-Jitsu stuff no but I

1:19:58 still love Jiu-Jitsu though you do you

1:20:00 do and and you play very fun and well so

1:20:03 that's how I can tell you enjoy it

1:20:05 because some MMA guys look at Jiu-Jitsu

1:20:07 like a chore yeah it's a chore for some

1:20:08 and they go I don't want to [ __ ] do

1:20:10 this or like we've we've had people come

1:20:12 to do the rolling part like you yeah and

1:20:14 then we do the interview and they're

1:20:15 like I don't really roll too much and I

1:20:17 go what is that mean don't you fight

1:20:19 they're like I just don't like doing it

1:20:21 and then they'll roll with me and they

1:20:23 kind of realize that I try to make it

1:20:24 fun for them and they're like you're

1:20:26 okay and I go oh I'm okay you're making

1:20:28 the exception for me cool thanks dude

1:20:32 but I always like to say it sometimes

1:20:35 because you train so much it does become

1:20:37 a job maybe that Thrill Is Gone I get it

1:20:42 but I just understand like I come at it

1:20:44 from a place of love and I find that I

1:20:48 gravitate towards other people who have

1:20:50 that same enthusiasm and then it's just

1:20:54 that's why it's fun like that's the

1:20:55 magic if you get people against the will

1:20:57 it sometimes or somebody who goes coach

1:21:00 was making me do this whatever so I'm

1:21:02 very loose in terms of it but my

1:21:04 favorite thing to do is I think I was

1:21:05 mentioning to you how a lot of times

1:21:07 we'll have our uh rolling start the

1:21:09 class yeah I'll get a couple guys who

1:21:12 right after the kickboxing aren't

1:21:13 necessarily Grapplers and they'll be

1:21:15 watching the rolling and they're just

1:21:16 staring at and I was like you can come

1:21:18 roll yeah might as well might as well

1:21:20 jump in stop just watching participate

1:21:24 yeah like oh no I won't and you go just

1:21:27 if you're already staring just go do it

1:21:29 yeah you're just wasting time now

1:21:31 clearly want to know how it ends for

1:21:33 those people which means you have an

1:21:36 interest just go do it and they're

1:21:38 always like I don't know maybe we'll see

1:21:41 and then they roll and then they start

1:21:42 saying for class and I go yeah because

1:21:44 you do the fun part everybody likes the

1:21:46 fun part the techniques depending on

1:21:49 what you like sometimes yes sometimes

1:21:51 get a little boring sometimes it happens

1:21:53 but we'll find a way to make it fun or

1:21:55 we'll find a way to kind of versatile it

1:21:57 to what you're best at so I've always

1:22:00 been very happy and proud of that one

1:22:03 well no sorry the one of the things that

1:22:04 like makes really fun for me is trash

1:22:06 talking oh I'm not a trash talker when I

1:22:09 actually F I'm not even a trash talker

1:22:10 before a fight but in the gym if you can

1:22:13 get me talking or if you start saying

1:22:15 smack to me while we're rolling oh

1:22:18 that's that gets E I don't know it's I'm

1:22:19 not competitive I'm not trying to kill

1:22:20 nobody but it it turns something on like

1:22:23 oh yeah and I start talking I do I do it

1:22:26 with striking too if I can strike with

1:22:28 you and talk to you the whole time um I

1:22:30 talk to myself in a fight I don't know

1:22:32 if my opponents will ever be able to

1:22:33 hear me but I'm like all right cool got

1:22:34 this mental note all right cool and then

1:22:36 my coach will say something I'm like all

1:22:37 right got it all right cool and then

1:22:38 I'll hit him oh damn I just hit you but

1:22:40 I don't mean that to be to be cocky I

1:22:43 make it's weird mental selft talk you're

1:22:46 play yeah like the more that I can talk

1:22:48 the more relaxed I am in Jiu-Jitsu or

1:22:50 striking so when me and you started

1:22:52 talking I was like oh this this is what

1:22:54 I like this is this is actually you what

1:22:57 dude I have to Pepper in jokes to see

1:22:59 because I know not everybody has a great

1:23:02 sense of humor especially if you're

1:23:03 winning yeah like quote unquote winning

1:23:06 you don't want to seem like an [ __ ]

1:23:08 so a lot of the jokes are a mix of

1:23:11 self-deprecation of hey you didn't block

1:23:14 this or in your case when you're flying

1:23:16 in the air being like what the [ __ ] is

1:23:17 this Fu going on bro and then other

1:23:19 times it's just like being in

1:23:21 situational different spots where you

1:23:24 know you're trying your your best to

1:23:26 bridge out of something and I'm like no

1:23:28 this ain't happening and I'm just not

1:23:29 even that but I'm just like I don't want

1:23:30 to go over like it's not even like I I'm

1:23:33 afraid of playing off my back it's just

1:23:35 right now I don't want to and then

1:23:38 literally just tell you like what's

1:23:39 wrong stop it stay here you can just do

1:23:41 this I don't want to move and then just

1:23:43 finding a playful way to do it but I did

1:23:45 notice I was like oh I think he likes

1:23:47 this okay I'll do more jokes super trash

1:23:49 talker well now I'm going to write more

1:23:51 jokes for the next time and you're witty

1:23:53 so I mean I I know but you know what the

1:23:55 nice part is you did give me the respect

1:23:56 when I did say I was like hey man I'm

1:23:58 not pretending like I'm great at

1:23:59 Jiu-Jitsu but I am the best at trash

1:24:03 talking like that's fair you go you go

1:24:06 that's fair and I go okay he's not going

1:24:07 to try and like bro this this is what I

1:24:09 do for a living this is what I this is

1:24:11 me it's just because I'm like I've

1:24:14 always had a mouth on me oh yeah and

1:24:16 I've always recognized like that mouth

1:24:18 has kept me out of

1:24:20 fights miraculously never been in an

1:24:23 actual fight no never I've never been in

1:24:26 a street fight so that's that's I

1:24:29 mean an actual

1:24:31 fight but never I've never like other

1:24:33 than in a combat situation with sanction

1:24:35 but it's also because you're your

1:24:37 demeanor you have a very calm demeanor

1:24:40 outside of it and you're playful enough

1:24:41 to go like okay if you say you're the

1:24:43 like some tough guy sounds great I'm

1:24:45 gonna gret this beer peace for me it's

1:24:48 always been like I didn't have too many

1:24:51 people get angry at me but I remember

1:24:52 one specific time there was something

1:24:54 was on the playground or in school and

1:24:57 somebody was like trying to fight me and

1:24:58 I just showed up and then I just started

1:25:00 roasting the person in front of a crowd

1:25:02 and they were laughing so hard at this

1:25:04 person that they just kind of ran away

1:25:06 and I remembered thinking like

1:25:08 huh okay I guess I'm pretty good at that

1:25:11 but I didn't think of it as a weapon I

1:25:14 just it is a weapon but I didn't really

1:25:16 know its extent other than just trying

1:25:19 to get a better understanding of like

1:25:21 why are we fighting because normally for

1:25:23 a fight two people should probably want

1:25:26 to do it and I'm trying to understand

1:25:28 why I need to fight you because I don't

1:25:30 have that want to fight you yeah like

1:25:32 what there has to be a huge reason I've

1:25:34 got to be willing to give up my school

1:25:38 get in trouble and I don't get in

1:25:40 trouble but if we're fighting why are we

1:25:41 fighting yeah and then they just started

1:25:43 saying like I don't I think at this

1:25:45 point they made a mistake of being like

1:25:47 I was like what is that and then all of

1:25:50 a sudden like a crowd's laughing I was

1:25:51 like I guess I should go with this and

1:25:53 I'm like dude you look all broke coming

1:25:54 out here doing this and like literally

1:25:56 roasting their appearance how poor their

1:25:59 clothes looked how sad their face was

1:26:02 and then I think they just were like

1:26:03 forget this man and they left and

1:26:05 everybody was like yo are you still

1:26:06 fighting I was like I don't think so I

1:26:09 well I found out more like if your

1:26:11 personality when we started messaging

1:26:12 I'm like this guy's funny this guy's a

1:26:14 talker like you know this guy has

1:26:16 personality so I could definitely see it

1:26:18 you know like plus when we started

1:26:19 rolling like oh this is what he does

1:26:22 this is how good he is at actually

1:26:23 talking but to make somebody actually

1:26:25 stop a fight because you made fun of

1:26:27 them that is that is Talent it is

1:26:29 impressive for a child but then I also

1:26:32 realize like all right if we ever do a

1:26:35 show I will always do the joke to your

1:26:37 face that I do on air yeah so I feel

1:26:40 it's an important uh policy to have and

1:26:44 usually the jokes we do are with people

1:26:45 we know and love so it's like all right

1:26:47 cool if you're fighting and I make a

1:26:49 joke about you it's because now we've

1:26:51 gotten the chance to talk we've gotten a

1:26:52 chance to roll I think there's a report

1:26:54 there and had we not even done that

1:26:57 today I still felt like I had a rapport

1:26:59 with you after our cage bch uh interview

1:27:02 where I said yeah dude that was his

1:27:04 moment and he had great personality I

1:27:06 got a good vibe he seemed like fun

1:27:07 people and those are the people that

1:27:10 always make you root for them and say

1:27:12 like oh that guy seems like he's cool so

1:27:15 I hope yeah this guy a cool guy I can

1:27:17 get behind you know he doesn't take

1:27:18 himself too serious yeah he's a fighter

1:27:20 but it's not all that defines him you

1:27:22 know this guy's just a cool dude you

1:27:24 yeah but yeah man so I'm glad we got

1:27:26 that out of the way here's what I want

1:27:28 to do we're going to put a pit on the

1:27:29 conversation for right now because

1:27:31 fortunately you get some opportunity to

1:27:33 take some time off who knows if you're

1:27:35 back early 2025 but the holidays are

1:27:37 coming up and you're definitely going to

1:27:39 be back to training through the holidays

1:27:41 which is honestly the hardest of times

1:27:43 to train little bit hard I like that you

1:27:44 were like no man I'm on Camp now and I

1:27:46 was like during the holidays I want to

1:27:49 make it to the UFC man get that I get

1:27:52 that I get that it's the goal and it's

1:27:53 the the vision board and it's the

1:27:55 Championships but also like holiday

1:27:58 season is the hardest part for

1:28:01 me sometimes because the gyms are closed

1:28:04 yeah and when I have to do my planning

1:28:06 that's cut to me like on a phone being

1:28:08 like I'm training this day this day the

1:28:10 st's closed but I can go here like I'm

1:28:13 very meticulous about getting it in even

1:28:15 if the gym is closed I'm gonna go get a

1:28:17 run in I'm gonna go lift some weights

1:28:19 run boring I already know you don't like

1:28:21 it [ __ ] that I I hate it all but I mean

1:28:24 I'm going to do it you have to you have

1:28:25 to I don't necessarily have to but

1:28:28 that's why I was telling you today I was

1:28:29 like fam I really want to do this

1:28:31 interview yeah but if we're not rolling

1:28:34 I got to replace this with something

1:28:35 else yeah you got to get something going

1:28:37 on and I'm like at the very least I get

1:28:38 my good workout in and then we get a

1:28:40 great interview so I'm very happy about

1:28:42 that here's what I want to do see this

1:28:43 camera over here this is your camera I

1:28:45 would love to give you an opportunity to

1:28:46 shout out the people because listen we

1:28:47 had this hat here the whole time you're

1:28:49 wearing this hat yeah I'm told they're

1:28:51 made by the same people so tell the

1:28:53 people about your sponsors and then hit

1:28:55 up anybody you want to give a shout out

1:28:56 to who helped you in that cage get the

1:28:59 win that you were looking for the last

1:29:00 time so all the people that help me out

1:29:02 all right so I have promotion the best

1:29:04 chiropractors in town they make sure

1:29:05 that my body is running at 100% all the

1:29:08 time uh Crow therapy I mean it's

1:29:10 basically like a like an instant ice

1:29:12 bath it's amazing honestly allows you to

1:29:14 recover your body sometimes I'll do that

1:29:15 back to back chiro Patrick gets my body

1:29:17 mold up go right into crowd therapy

1:29:19 he'll right up right as fast as I can

1:29:21 mazvita takaria in deleno California

1:29:26 fed me they basically gave me free food

1:29:29 you know how to pay when you come here

1:29:31 they have some of the best food I've

1:29:32 ever had and then post win toras were

1:29:34 amazing and then uh Uprising this is the

1:29:39 hat from Uprising uh they shouted me out

1:29:41 they helped me out they give me some

1:29:42 free clothing it's actually pretty

1:29:43 awesome uh this hat was custom made by

1:29:46 intro he has his own uh pin company

1:29:48 which is actually the pins are on this

1:29:49 hat even though he owns this one um also

1:29:53 deleno Buick GMC I work for them but

1:29:55 they also do help me out uh Bowman

1:29:57 asphal an asphal company that I also

1:29:59 used to work for actually quit without a

1:30:00 two weeks notice and now they help me

1:30:02 out a ton wow wild and then I know I

1:30:05 miss somebody else uh neutr Zone they

1:30:07 always Supply me with the best

1:30:08 supplements in town uh Prosper stones

1:30:10 have made that they're my biggest

1:30:11 supporters they helped me out so much

1:30:14 that I can't I couldn't do it without

1:30:16 them honestly and I feel like I'm

1:30:17 missing a couple of those but I can't

1:30:19 remember it's okay remember we'll Circle

1:30:22 back I'm sure they're going to be okay

1:30:24 but I have to ask this is this your

1:30:27 basketball team a choice because you

1:30:28 can't just do basketball without having

1:30:30 a team oh this is the baseball team BR

1:30:31 or I might be goddamn dude I have the

1:30:34 NBA on my mind because of their new

1:30:36 rights deals and I the reason why I said

1:30:39 Allstar is I thought the NBA actually

1:30:41 trademarked Allstar oh I didn't know

1:30:44 about that I think there's somebody that

1:30:45 did I thought they said the NBA but I

1:30:47 was like reading that like Allstar why

1:30:49 oh [ __ ] um somebody told me that if you

1:30:52 were to try and brand something as All

1:30:54 Star you have to go through them through

1:30:56 the NBA I'm fuzzy right now but you're

1:30:58 right is that the baseball team this is

1:31:00 the baseball team um I barely got into

1:31:02 baseball this year I've been into so

1:31:03 many games uh I wasn't a baseball fan

1:31:05 until I actually started going to the

1:31:06 games and kind of nice that the Dodgers

1:31:09 won this

1:31:10 year I was about to say I was like you

1:31:12 don't get to celebrate because you're

1:31:13 wearing this but I mean I was actually

1:31:16 going to bring my La hat but I was like

1:31:17 this one is because my friend made I

1:31:19 mean it's dope so but it's just I got

1:31:21 confused because you're like I love the

1:31:22 Dodgers too and I was like

1:31:24 dude's playing all sides but he ain't

1:31:26 watching he ain't having a Dodger he a

1:31:28 Dodgers hat I was like bro I wore a

1:31:29 Dodger tie at least I'm showing out my

1:31:31 people I mean this is just same thing as

1:31:33 the glasses it's just just the best is

1:31:36 still somebody being like why you put

1:31:38 them on blast and I was like fam dude

1:31:39 it's funny my my the people that like

1:31:42 know me everybody knows I'm a clown

1:31:44 everybody knows it's like that I wasn't

1:31:46 even the class clown in school either I

1:31:47 just became this I think fighting made

1:31:49 me become so NCH a lot I think what what

1:31:52 happens is you grow confidence in the

1:31:54 area of being able to handle yourself

1:31:56 take care of yourself to the point where

1:31:57 you realize none of that [ __ ] matters to

1:31:59 be taking yourself that seriously I used

1:32:01 to get bullied and like do nothing about

1:32:02 it man I used to be like so like nervous

1:32:05 and scared because I'm actually like

1:32:06 like really nice like um my mom I talked

1:32:09 to after all my points that I like

1:32:10 fought and like dude I feel bad I'm

1:32:11 sorry like that I hurt that guy like

1:32:13 you're way too nice I was like the Roman

1:32:16 Emperor guy like thumb down n that

1:32:19 dude's trash kill him kill him my mom my

1:32:22 mom I've seen my mom in so any street

1:32:24 fights really my mom is where I got it

1:32:26 from 1,000% my mom be throwing down she

1:32:29 got jumped by like five or six girls

1:32:32 like at and she was already older she

1:32:33 was like in her 50s 60s and she beat

1:32:35 them all up one like by herself like I'm

1:32:38 not like exaggerating I'm not like no so

1:32:41 these girls are going you know try to

1:32:42 pull hair and Fight Like Girls my mom

1:32:44 was like one two like

1:32:46 down down the pipe and I was like I was

1:32:50 like jabbing him up and I was like this

1:32:51 is crazy so my mom mom um so I I was I

1:32:55 tell the story even though my girlfriend

1:32:56 probably see this but so I was trying to

1:32:58 get out this girl when I was younger

1:33:00 like in middle school and I was I was

1:33:01 living in Mexico with my mom and the

1:33:03 like the lady's I mean her mom comes out

1:33:06 like yelling at me like who are you who

1:33:08 are you here with my daughter and like

1:33:09 like you know what are you doing at my

1:33:11 house and like me all timid it's like

1:33:13 like uh um yeah I'm here like you know

1:33:15 I'm just talking to your daughter he

1:33:16 like well who's your mom and I told him

1:33:18 like my mom's name and she like oh

1:33:20 that's your mom I went to school with

1:33:22 her and I was like for real she like did

1:33:24 she still sleep with like a gun under

1:33:25 her pillow and I was like yeah that is

1:33:28 that that's in fact my mom she like you

1:33:30 know I have a story from your mom like

1:33:31 some girl was bullying me when I was a

1:33:32 kid she dragged her by the river my mom

1:33:35 would apparently be the bully's bully I

1:33:37 didn't know this so my mom would get

1:33:39 into fights after school so like he's

1:33:42 always been known for fighting people

1:33:44 it's it is it is wild even like we have

1:33:47 like a mayor in our town the mayor knows

1:33:49 her and like my well my my family's kind

1:33:51 of known in our part of Mexico not you

1:33:53 know have the best

1:33:56 reputation all I mean so all my uncles

1:34:00 are really well known my my mom is well

1:34:02 known so it definitely comes from my

1:34:04 mom's side of the family that whole

1:34:06 fighting ability and you know what's

1:34:07 really funny you might find this really

1:34:09 hilarious so my uncles will come up to

1:34:11 me and they'll be like yeah Miho like

1:34:14 like when I was your age I was just as

1:34:16 tough I was I was so bad we were all

1:34:18 getting in fights all the time like I'm

1:34:20 just like you and I'm look at my mom

1:34:22 like Mom like I've never been in a

1:34:23 street fight

1:34:24 like I've never been like a hoad like

1:34:26 like that's not me but they like they

1:34:28 relate to the fighting as me being a

1:34:30 hoad I'm like no bro I do this for sport

1:34:32 like yeah like but it's so funny that my

1:34:34 uncles would be like dude I was I was

1:34:37 that guy too I was hot like oh I

1:34:38 couldn't couldn't step outside without

1:34:40 getting in a fight and I'm like but

1:34:42 that's not me I just told him yeah Uncle

1:34:43 like yeah we're the same one and the

1:34:45 same one the same same people here we

1:34:47 are here I mean I'll put it to you this

1:34:50 way it does fill in some gaps because

1:34:53 part of you wonders where does this come

1:34:55 from if you are so nice and it's not to

1:34:58 say we don't meet nice Fighters but I

1:35:01 would rank you amongst one of the more

1:35:03 chill and that that is

1:35:06 very difficult because what you do is

1:35:10 not chill in the cage so when you're

1:35:12 like Mama I feel bad I beat up this

1:35:15 person she's like and and she's like so

1:35:18 be it damn okay cold mom I see you okay

1:35:22 so now I understand where you have what

1:35:25 I refer to as your gangster side because

1:35:27 your gangster side has to be the one

1:35:28 that shows up in the cage yeah and then

1:35:30 afterwards like literally wases away

1:35:32 respectful back to your opponent super

1:35:34 great with me makes it so comfortable

1:35:37 and then extend should getting you here

1:35:38 to like train with you and see more of

1:35:40 your personality I'm like no this is

1:35:42 exactly who I thought you were so it all

1:35:44 checks out so I have uh I mean my family

1:35:46 kind of knows like junior is everyday

1:35:48 guy M Raphael is cage guy interesting

1:35:52 rapael is the the cage fighter name like

1:35:54 that like that's that's the personality

1:35:56 in there that's like I'm going to like

1:35:58 well I'm not a guy that likes to stall

1:36:00 I'm trying to get you out of I'm that's

1:36:02 my goal we're here to fight yeah and if

1:36:04 my life was on the line or your life was

1:36:05 on the line I'm trying to win yeah so

1:36:08 that's why the guy that's in there is

1:36:09 Rafael and then maybe that's what I

1:36:11 should do maybe Raph should be the host

1:36:13 and rafhael is the guy who like takes

1:36:16 care of business because the way I tell

1:36:17 people is I'm like you want to talk with

1:36:20 host ref you do not want to talk to

1:36:22 producer ref host raap everybody loves

1:36:25 producer Raph very hard very

1:36:29 accountability yeah and so when you're

1:36:32 describing that I was like God I

1:36:33 couldn't oh no I know it oh you know you

1:36:36 know the difference inity the switch or

1:36:38 something like yeah that happens because

1:36:40 dude there was a moment where I want to

1:36:41 say this weekend even the people that

1:36:42 were working with me on

1:36:44 subversive just very clear we're problem

1:36:47 solving big problems are having and I'm

1:36:49 just going mhm okay let's fix this let's

1:36:52 do this Direct and then I felt by like

1:36:54 Sunday I was cracking jokes with people

1:36:56 I was light again or Saturday I was like

1:36:58 oh yeah it's fine it's all good and I I

1:37:02 don't think they say anything about it

1:37:04 but I know that they know that I'm loose

1:37:07 and back that's something that that side

1:37:09 of you exist it's like oh yeah crap so

1:37:11 we might be Raph the the podcast the

1:37:13 interviewer and then rafhael the the

1:37:15 boss the boss that's that's probably

1:37:17 what it is honestly that's what that's

1:37:20 when people like hey what's RA it's

1:37:21 Rafael no no no no you call me Raphael

1:37:24 Raph is the guy who is the host Raphael

1:37:26 is the producer yeah like this is my

1:37:28 name Raphael yeah and then especially

1:37:32 like really hitting it be like no not

1:37:33 Raphael not rafhael yeah Rafael yeah

1:37:37 straight because when they dude when I

1:37:39 lived in the midwest I don't envy this

1:37:42 for you if this ever happens but I would

1:37:45 live in the midwest I lived in the South

1:37:47 and when I was going to school there it

1:37:48 was how do you say your name it was like

1:37:51 my name's just say Raph like well what's

1:37:54 your full name I was like Rafael and

1:37:55 they're like okay Raphael and I

1:37:58 go I like like no just rap is good then

1:38:02 Raphael and I'm like how how are you

1:38:05 phonetically doing that and I realized I

1:38:09 don't always get it right I screw up

1:38:12 names I screwed up a name on air uh this

1:38:16 this

1:38:17 weekend and uh that my phone listen

1:38:20 that's my phone I can't believe that oh

1:38:21 it's from this this is why I was like

1:38:23 why is it making a noise it's making a

1:38:24 noise on my computer uh you know what's

1:38:26 crazy that's this is the first time cuz

1:38:28 I you have my name so it's like the

1:38:30 first time I've ever heard somebody

1:38:31 called Raph yeah I don't I don't get

1:38:34 that much I get like

1:38:36 Ralphie Ralph Ralph oh you get Ral oh

1:38:39 Ral wigam my dad's Ralph yeah so my mom

1:38:43 and

1:38:44 him he wanted a junior and she was like

1:38:49 absolutely not and they came up with the

1:38:52 Spanish equivalent which was going to be

1:38:54 Rafael and by all intents and purposes I

1:38:58 look just like my dad I have very

1:39:00 similar mannerisms to him and for years

1:39:03 I ran away from him I was like I'm not

1:39:04 the same he's different we're different

1:39:06 blah blah blah and we're so similar

1:39:10 identical it's very much like when I was

1:39:12 13 and I pick up the phone they're like

1:39:15 Ralph and I'm like I a

1:39:17 child my dad is a man I hear in the

1:39:20 voice pattern it's already like That's

1:39:22 How Strong this resemblance is mine is

1:39:24 maybe a little more polished but he was

1:39:27 maybe a little more nasal in here and

1:39:29 that's kind of more his voice but same

1:39:30 tone so that's why my dad he hated

1:39:34 people calling me Raph and I had

1:39:36 realized I was like well if I'm

1:39:37 performing I kind of need a stage name

1:39:39 yeah and Timothy's get to do Tim yeah

1:39:42 and when I grew up you have a ninja

1:39:43 turtle and they called him Raph and a

1:39:46 lot of my close friends when I was

1:39:47 growing up called me Raph and I just

1:39:49 realized I was like well there's no pH

1:39:51 in that so just Raph it's rap EAS and so

1:39:54 sometimes people are like Rafe and I go

1:39:55 I don't really like that I go just Raph

1:39:58 and I go if you type it in and like ask

1:40:00 the dictionary to say my name or like

1:40:02 the little voice AI to say the name it

1:40:04 goes ra like it says it like that so

1:40:07 it's been very helpful plus I think once

1:40:09 you get to know me it's just it FS

1:40:11 become just rap it just makes sense I'm

1:40:13 not actually supposed to be junior my uh

1:40:16 my grandfather my dad's dad's name which

1:40:18 my dad's not my life but I I found this

1:40:20 out when I was way younger because him

1:40:22 but uh my my dad's dad is also Raphael

1:40:25 interesting so my dad was actually the

1:40:26 actual Junior and I should have been the

1:40:28 third but because I was the first one

1:40:30 born in the US they had no documentation

1:40:33 that my dad was a junior the second so

1:40:35 in reality I'm the third person to carry

1:40:37 the name already but technically

1:40:39 speaking I'm not that on my document

1:40:41 paperwork which is kind of funny that I

1:40:43 go by Junior all the time I'm not even a

1:40:46 junior you know I feel like my I think

1:40:48 my my Uncle Junior is the same way too

1:40:51 I'm not sure all I know is

1:40:53 I've learned between Mexican families

1:40:56 and 10th Planet friends and this

1:41:00 Jiu-Jitsu world that sometimes people

1:41:02 are like hi my name's tree trunk and

1:41:03 you're like what's up tree trunk sure

1:41:05 you just don't care whatever you say

1:41:07 whatever your name is this weird space

1:41:09 is too interesting and too crazy in the

1:41:12 world when someone goes oh we call him

1:41:14 nunchuk and I go I don't even want to

1:41:16 know just sure if that's it's like hey

1:41:18 nunchuck I need you for a second can you

1:41:20 do this and I go I'm not going to

1:41:21 question it so I've learned to be

1:41:23 very passive about that sort of stuff

1:41:26 but it is still kind of crazy the

1:41:27 Brazilian haa yeah hael but I get a lot

1:41:30 of haa you a lot of uh a lot of

1:41:33 Brazilian coaches would be like oh haa

1:41:35 very nice haa good job they go thank you

1:41:38 one of my uh my first coach is he would

1:41:41 just yell out he'd be like haa I'd be

1:41:43 waiting for like the instruction of what

1:41:45 to do when I'm like dying underneath

1:41:47 somebody and I go and he goes do

1:41:49 something and I go no tell me what to do

1:41:52 you know what to do I don't know what to

1:41:53 do I don't know [ __ ] so that's a a

1:41:57 phrase that me and a couple of my

1:41:58 buddies who train like that long be like

1:42:00 hey do something like oh it's not

1:42:02 looking good oh yeah so we've learned to

1:42:05 do that

1:42:06 well some horn out there I did hear that

1:42:09 horn I was like there's too much going

1:42:11 on like normally this is a

1:42:13 very non crazy element there's been too

1:42:17 much weirdness happening outside today

1:42:19 it's meant to be me to be it's meant to

1:42:21 be well sir here's what we're going to

1:42:22 do we're going to put been on the

1:42:23 conversation uh I want to say thank you

1:42:26 again that was a blast having you come

1:42:28 by the academy and I'm glad we could be

1:42:30 one of your first podcast experiences

1:42:33 because like I said I I've watched your

1:42:35 work and whenever I do commentary I try

1:42:37 to watch everything I can on the

1:42:40 fighters and I liked what you were doing

1:42:42 you know seeing you as a knockout artist

1:42:44 was really cool and then seeing the

1:42:47 flash of the personality obviously the

1:42:50 last fight I was like damn dude you

1:42:52 didn't have the performance you wanted

1:42:53 but I saw something where I go you're

1:42:55 good and I like what you do and you were

1:42:57 receptive to the note and then you won

1:43:00 and I said well now here we are we get

1:43:01 to do that interview but I said that's

1:43:04 only three minutes four minutes yeah it

1:43:06 was F it was like a two two- minute

1:43:08 fight it doesn't encapsulate who the

1:43:10 essence of who you are and I wanted to

1:43:12 try and do that on here and I feel like

1:43:14 uh if anybody watches this they get to

1:43:16 know you better as you start making

1:43:18 those next steps to your pro career no

1:43:20 yeah no thank you for inviting me down

1:43:22 this has actually been a very awesome

1:43:23 experience from the time we got to

1:43:25 Rolling to eating food together

1:43:26 chitchatting and we're doing this now

1:43:28 which is I could say is my first ever

1:43:30 like podcast or interview that I've ever

1:43:32 first of many sir you'll you'll

1:43:33 definitely be somebody who's going to be

1:43:36 uh booked by other podcasts in the

1:43:38 future especially if you continue on the

1:43:40 trajectory you're on but you're always

1:43:42 going to come here first always here

1:43:43 first here you got me down because now

1:43:45 now we got beef like now we got actual

1:43:48 roles to do before we do interviews and

1:43:50 now I know maybe I'll have my blue bell

1:43:52 by then bro maybe you'll have your blue

1:43:54 belt yeah this dude again this

1:43:58 fake this this FIP fake this dude's like

1:44:02 yeah I'm a white belt I was like okay

1:44:03 son come see me later about that white

1:44:05 belt true yeah I know okay yeah we we're

1:44:08 real slow playing that one however I

1:44:10 will say this if you're being ranked by

1:44:14 where are you being ranked under then

1:44:15 what do you mean what where where are

1:44:17 you getting ranked who's ranking you

1:44:18 Albert Albert did the pra Jiu-Jitsu

1:44:20 thing so like uh I never rolled really

1:44:22 GE so for a little bit while I was

1:44:24 training with him I just got my stripes

1:44:25 and you got the stripes you just haven't

1:44:27 had somebody promote you since then no

1:44:30 yeah so that's why that's a lot so the

1:44:32 technique has gone up and up and up and

1:44:34 meanwhile you're just like oh man I'm

1:44:35 stuck at this three thing that's why

1:44:36 when you're like hey what's going on

1:44:38 with you and I'm like brother same thing

1:44:39 I'm a purple belt still time time to go

1:44:42 to Worlds and win the white belt

1:44:45 competition you know what there's

1:44:47 nothing wrong with that let those guys

1:44:49 get massacred by your flippy nonsense

1:44:52 but all I know is I told this man he was

1:44:55 going to end up in a figure four and he

1:44:56 did I did I did in fact I I was like

1:44:58 what is he going for right now let me

1:44:59 show you something I was like what and

1:45:01 then he started putting his legs on the

1:45:02 tangl I was like oh you did it to me I

1:45:04 had to had to bro that dude he found

1:45:06 that photo of me uh being put in a

1:45:08 figure for which was not the whole story

1:45:10 I was like bro I reversed it into a

1:45:11 sharpo now so now I'm like yo this fan

1:45:15 he uh he he found out real soon so I'm

1:45:17 already looking forward to the get back

1:45:19 but sir no thank you're a wonderful

1:45:21 human being and uh guys I'm just going

1:45:23 to close this up so wow this is super

1:45:25 dark let's make me a little bit lighter

1:45:27 let me get close like this thank you so

1:45:43 fighter that you have met and who is the

1:45:45 best person that you met in MMA so it
