Use AI to improve a business—not necessarily to make the business about AI. Customers care about solving their problems and getting results, not about which technology you use behind the scenes.
A business spent about $350,000 building an AI system to replace 11 virtual assistants who cost roughly $11,000 per month to clean data. The system automated a process that wasn’t holding the business back; the company still needed more customers. The investment therefore targeted the wrong problem.
Bottom line: Before using AI, ask whether it addresses a real business constraint—and whether it helps the business make more money.
