526 campaign. Apologies that it's a
little bit later than usual as well. Of
course, we try and get those out. And
then last week was a little bit uh
mental, but we've got some news that we
can talk about. Of course, we'll touch
on Burnley a little bit. We'll talk
about our pre-season predictions as
well, which were is always good fun to
have a laugh about. Um, and then of
course answering some of your questions.
We are live on YouTube, so touchwood.
there's no sort of technical
difficulties uh throughout the evening,
but h it will be available as on an
audio podcast as always as well. But
alongside me today, I got three co-hosts
and Wolves fans to discuss uh the
action. We'll kick off with you, Finn.
Thanks for jumping on. How you keeping
mate?
>> All good, thank you, mate. Yeah, nervous
for these preseason predictions now you
mentioned them, but
>> I think you actually did okay when we
come on to them.
>> I feel like I was going Did I was going
down or if not 17? So, I think I'm I'm
safe with one, but yeah, I'm all good.
Thank you.
>> No, good. Uh George, good to have you
back on, mate. How you keeping?
>> Yeah, mate. All good, thank you. How are
you?
>> Yeah, all good. Weather has been not so
good over the last couple of days, has
it? Um, but yeah, I mean, last week was
glorious. That was I know I always bring
up the golf for you, Joel. That was
prime golf weather last week, mate.
>> I did play Wednesday last week um and
actually played in a match and uh
actually won for a change. So the form
after beating Don Goodman's gone
downhill, but I actually managed to get
a win again last Wednesday. Um, which
was nice. Um, and I spent the weekend in
Warsaw in Poland, so it was uh change
scenes got market or something then.
Okay.
>> No, no, no. Um, probably the same
quality as best market. No, I'm joking.
No, it was good.
>> Oh, it's the week. Was it this weekend?
The week my mate was on a stag do in
Warsaw. Uh, really?
>> I think it was I think it was it might
have been the weekend before, I think.
Uh yeah, because I saw him yesterday, so
wouldn't it wouldn't have been I'd have
had a different weekend to him. I went
to watch Olivia Dean.
>> Yeah, yeah, she was good live as well.
It was my wife's uh Christmas present,
but to be fair, it was sound solid. No
complaints
>> as in you couldn't get tickets.
>> Couldn't get couldn't get tickets in the
UK. No, basically it was that old that
typical thing like typical female thing
of two weeks before Christmas going,
"Oh, I know what I want now. I want
Livia Dean tickets." I'm like, "Okay, go
on ticket master and you got no chance."
So, I could either see her in Warsaw or
Oslo and I've already been to Oslo. I've
never been to Poland, so I was like,
going to Poland.
>> Happy days. There you go. Um, Harry as
well. Good to good to have you back on,
mate. How you keeping?
>> Very well, mate. Thank you. Very good.
Uh, it's been nice to not have any
football for the past couple of weeks.
So, yeah. Uh, all good, mate. Buzzing.
>> Setup sorted as well. I can see behind
you now.
>> Yeah, it's nice, mate. It's nice little
light going on there. That's my only
feature at the moment, but I'm uh got
plenty more to come.
>> Is that just because the you didn't fix
the paneling right and there's a massive
gap?
>> Let's not let's not talk about that
paneling. Let's not talk about the
paneling. I've had to angle in the
actual camera so you don't see the light
switch. It's absolutely dreadful. So
>> Oh, keep that covered, mate.
>> Yeah, I mean we learn. We live in I'm
sure we'll see more DIY SOS with Harry
Gil throughout the summer as well, but
we'll wait and see. Uh lads, thanks for
jumping on anyway and thanks for
everyone that's watching live on uh on
YouTube. You'll be able to watch it back
if you miss any part of the podcast and
of course you'll be able to listen to it
back on Spotify and Apple later on uh
from this evening. Uh we will touch on
Burnley. It seems like a lifetime ago
now, but Walls finished off the campaign
with a 1-1 draw at Turfmore. Thankfully,
it was an absolutely glorious day in
Burnley, which is a rarity up there, but
it was nice. Um Finn, we'll touch on the
match itself and what you remember of
it. I mean it was far from memorable but
a point on the road but a little bit
frustrating as I felt probably Burnley
edged it in the end.
>> Yeah being fully transparent I was doing
a lot of house moving stuff for the
first half so I only saw the second half
so I thought we were horrendous but I
have heard that there was well it
wouldn't be improvements because it
happened beforehand but I've heard we
were slightly better first half. You
were there Dave weren't you in the
>> Yeah. Um second half was just a
non-event even though I was watching it.
I spent half the time looking at my
phone. Um, but yeah, I even from what I
do remember, most of it's been a raise
now. Was it 29% possession or something
like that?
>> Wasn't really a way to go out and as you
say, it's it's at championship level. If
we' have finished 19th, it's the value
of an extra signing, isn't it really?
So, it's not like nothing was on the
line. Um, even though the neutral would
have seen it as our two teams on the
beach, they know their fate. There was
there was something on it. So, yeah,
disappointing. Um, especially from what
I saw, but it be forgotten very quickly.
>> Yeah, I forgot to ask you. Are you in
your new house now? That looks like your
standard setup or you
>> Yeah, imagine that's just a green
screen. No, I was we're in um we're in
the in the transition at the moment.
Although I've had to literally nip up
just before this because the new
neighbor text saying, "Oh, our tortoise
has escaped." Um apparently next door I
have a tortoise. So I figured that just
had to run around the garden look for a
tortoise. Couldn't find one and now I'm
back here. Um but yeah, we're in the
we've just ordered a sofa. This there's
nowhere to sit at the moment. We've
ordered a sofa. Um, so I'm still here
for now and then, yeah, we'll be moving
pretty soon. Don't know where I'm going
to be.
>> Sitting down in a deck chair in the
living room, the pizza,
>> camping chairs. Yeah, bean bags. We've
got a bean bag. We've got two dining
chairs now, so me and Jam can sit. But
yeah, we're getting there.
>> Yeah, Jordan, in terms of season finale,
it was far from eventful. I mean, for
Wolves anyway, our form at the end of
the campaigns tends to be pretty
underwhelming and pretty poor as well.
But, I mean, it didn't really do Rob
Edwards many favors, did it? I suppose
you always want to end the season on a
high and you always think we could try
and win that game and finish 19th, but I
think there would have just been that
little boost in morale and atmosphere
around the fan base going into the
summer, but you know, we're far from
good enough once again, really, were we?
>> No, but it's just one of those things,
isn't it? I think it would have been
nice not to come 20th. And actually,
when we hired Rob Edwards back in sort
of what, November time, October time, I
said if if we come if we if we don't
finish bottom, he's done a good job. and
that would have go against everything
I've said over the last few weeks. So,
I'm not saying kind of glad we didn't
win because that sounds bad, but I was I
was almost eating my own words there a
little bit. Um,
>> look like I think it's been a horrible
season. If we'd have won on against
Burnley, would it have made any
difference? Maybe 1% right, but um it's
just been a poor season as we all know.
And I think now it's just being trying
to be optimistic and looking forward to
next season really. I think if we'd have
gone to Burnley and stuck four or five
past them, does it carry any weight into
the first game of the Championship
season in August? Probably not to be
honest with you. Um it just been nice
for the fans that have traveled up
there, put a smile on the face. And
again, I I didn't watch the game live.
Um I actually went to the Furs and
sacked it off and had a Desi instead.
But
>> um you know, for the fans that did go,
you know, it' have been it' have been a
nice thing for th for those fans and and
and give them a good send off. But um
yeah, to be honest with you, I'm just
glad it's over.
>> Yeah, I think most of us in the same
camp. Weirdly, I was at the first
probably the night before cuz I did the
old Gold Pack shirt launch and then I
went to uh the Furs for a Mixie after
that. It's one of those I think a Desi
Pub is one of the only places like if
you want food at like 10 p.m. they'll
they'll still be serving because I think
it was about after I left the uh
the launch and my mate was desperate for
some food. I said, "Well, get a Dixie."
He's like, "Nah." And yeah, so we went
to the first. It was all right. But
yeah, that is the old goal pack shirt. I
think there are still limited numbers
available if anyone wants to uh check
them out. Just uh just find just go on
the website. Um Harry Adam Armstrong on
the score sheet. It was nice to actually
get a V decision go away uh as well. And
you know he's going to be a part of the
squad next season. So I suppose it's
nice moment for him to to get his name
on the score sheet once again.
>> Yes, of course. Always good to get
yourself especially as a striker a bit
of confidence. I know it's the last game
of the season so I'll probably forget
about that by the time preseason comes
around. Uh but even so, it's nice to see
your actual striker scoring goals for
you and he took his penalty really well
and that's what you want to see. I I
haven't been too impressed with our
penalty takers this season.
>> They've all been pretty poor. Uh so it
was good to see him dispatch that that
one um a couple of weeks back and and
yeah, I look forward to seeing what he
can do next season in a Championship.
>> Yeah, it's frustrating because obviously
the Palace game which was Too was I
don't know if I can't remember if
Armstrong was on the pitch at that
point. um in that game but you know that
Palace game if we score that penalty you
go won the look probably into Halime
completely different game that that
would have been that was in in the midst
of sort of the Arsenal and Villa and
Liverpool games you know you had another
three points there I know look we were
relegated quite comfortably in the end
but it certainly would have made that
post international break running a
little bit more interesting we missed we
oh Strand Lson wasn't it as well earlier
on I think that was Brenford pre
Christmas
>> um so yeah it's just frustrating that we
you know have those golden
opportunities. But um be nice, you know,
nice to to get on the score sheet. Just
frustrating that we can go and get all
three points in the end. We saw um J
Abby as well uh Finn breaks record,
youngest Premier League player, second
youngest player in the club's history as
well. I don't I'm not expecting to see
him in the match day squad every week uh
next year, but do you think that's just
Rob Edwards, you know, um rewarding a
player? Is it a message to the board, do
you think? or is it walls trying to sort
of pin down one of them more promising
youngsters to new a new contract again
or all of the
>> when he maybe when he came on I was
convinced Sky got his name wrong as well
because wasn't is it has he got an older
brother that was in the academy
>> yeah Jerome no so I I I tweeted that out
first wrong actually
I deleted it because yeah Jerome Abby is
a little bit older used to be in the
academy as well
>> yeah wrong about it must have been a
football manager name or something and I
was convinced I got it wrong but yeah um
who Who was the Who did he break the
record of for us? Who was was it Morgan?
Was he 16
>> in the Premier League? I think
>> Oh, Premier, of course, because he came
on in the FA Cup, didn't he at 16
something against
>> Stoke? Uh, I was trying to think.
>> Um, either way,
>> I was going to say Mano, but obviously
he isn't Mane or was it when he came on
against um came on against what under
Vtor Pereira? I
>> for someone in the comments. That's the
beauty of being
>> scoring.
I think maybe score three outside the
box and be Portuguese or whatever it
was.
Yeah, that was the that was a good
start. Yeah. Or unless anybody in the
comments because I know Anthony Ford was
up there with the youngest player back
in but I'm talking like 18. So he
probably smashed that record actually. I
think
>> I can't think.
>> Um but aside from that he loo looked
okay, didn't he? Um didn't stand out in
positively or negatively massively but
yeah was um look sharp. Didn't quite
have a Tomdozi debut but not everyone
can. And um yeah, it might be a name
that I don't know with um with 14y olds
getting snapped up from our academy. Is
it one way? Yeah, they're just trying to
um to maybe tempt him to stay, but it it
does seem tough out there in the the
academy scene. So, yeah, I don't know if
maybe we'll see on the bench as you say
a few times next year. Not expecting
massive things, but we said that of
Manet, what was he 17 last year? 17 18
and then look what he's done. So, yeah,
promising.
>> Yeah, I think I was just trying to uh
see there. Sharky thinks it was uh Matt.
Can I flag up? Oh, there you go. Can I
flag up a comment on the screen there?
Um he reckons it was Brighton um for
Matteas Mana. I think that was under um
Bour Pereira, wasn't it? So I was just
going to try and see if uh I can quickly
go on to FB Ref, but as you can imagine
with all these ads and stuff, it's not
so easy. Um but yeah, I I do agree. I
think in terms of, you know, the club
trying to keep all the players, you
know, it's come out over the last couple
of days, it's the 14y old goalkeeper,
which Zack Trinda, which I think Matt
Jackson was talking about in the fans
forum, wasn't he? So um yeah, it's
pretty obvious. Yeah, it was it was
Matteas Mané and then that he beat
Anthony Ford was the one before him as
well. So Jerome Abby's smashed it by
almost a whole year to be fair. So um
interesting to see where the future
takes uh takes him. Anyway, we'll move
on. That's from the the Burnley game
itself because again I don't think
there's much to uh to write home about.
Let's let's jump into probably one of
the the fun parts of the podcast. Let's
react to some of those preseason
predictions as well before we look
towards the summer and uh beyond. Uh
let's start off with the top goal
scorer, George. Can you remember who you
predicted for this?
>> I'm probably just going to say it was
Strand Larson.
>> Yeah. Um we all did actually. It was so
the preseason podcast was me, George,
and Finn, and we all said Jorgen Strand
Larson. Now, if we're talking all
competition,
>> he wasn't far off. Well, if you're
talking all competitions, he he was top
scorer with six
>> uh alongside
>> I was talking about all competitions,
Dave.
>> Yeah, definitely. Yeah. If you're
talking Premier League, um yeah, he was
>> Yeah. No, I think Well, in the Prem he
scored once for us, didn't he? So, um
yeah, but in the Premier League, it was
level top goal scorers with three goals
each. Santiago Bueno, Matteas Mane, Tu,
and Rodrigo Gomez. So, um, yeah, we
could say we got that right, but I I'd
feel dirty saying that to be honest,
considering how bad that was. And how
many Scott goals did he score? Was it
three against four against Shrewsbury?
Was it?
>> So, um, did we do
>> you know these predictions? Was it
before or after the Newcastle stuff? Was
it like did we do it after the transfer
window?
>> Uh, it was before it was uh before it
was start of the season. So, and then so
the Newcastle stuff was a couple of week
like a week or so after.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. because it was towards the end of
the uh end of the season, wasn't it? Um
most assists.
Um George, you went with
>> Je
was going to go Jean Aras, but you said
to be different, you go Xiao Gomez. And
I went with Aras as well, but did give a
shout out to Hugo Bueno. Um so in all
competitions, our most assist was
actually Hang, believe it or not. Four
assists. Yeah, he got he got four
assists. If we're talking Premier
League, um it was a level with four
players. You got Müller Woler, Hugo
Bueno, Adam Armstrong, and Hang with two
each.
>> We're g man. We are. We are dreadful.
>> But yeah, we I mean I shouted Hugo on
the pod. George, you also mentioned
Müller Woler, but you were disappointed
with his display against Celt. So know
from that you
>> he was running through mud against
Seliggo on thinking.
>> Yeah. Yeah. And then finally,
>> did either of them get Sorry, Dave. Did
either of them get one at all? Did Aras
or Good actually. Aras didn't according
to FB
>> and Xiao Gomez did get one.
>> He did get one. Yeah, I I would I would
have put money on John Aras getting at
least one, but
>> he definitely got at least one against
Rusebury. He might have got he might
have got two or three.
>> Oh, yeah. So, I'm on the Premier League
there. So, let's have a look.
>> Aras
scored, didn't he? I'm sure he
>> Yeah, he did. Yeah, he got one assist in
all comps to be fair. So, but yeah,
Huang leading the way on the on the
assists. So, that Yeah, I was going to
say no, I was going to say has J Huang
got the most goals and assist combined,
but he hasn't it was to strand last with
eight each. Um, and then our hot takes
for the season. Oh, no, no, sorry. Final
league position first. Obviously, Wolves
finishing rock bottom. Uh, George, you
predicted 14th, but saying that, you did
say, you know, it was depending on the
rest of the transfer business, which was
a little bit roby obviously. Um, I went
with 15th and then Finn, you said with
the trend at the moment, it is probably
going to be bottom three, but you were
slightly more positive and said 17th.
Uh, so again, you weren't far away from
that. So,
>> and then the hot takes, uh, which I'll
have to fact check some of these. So, I
said, I mean, I was awful with this. I
said the three promoted teams to go
straight back down. So, I was very wrong
on that. Um, thing you said Salah to get
less than 10 goals. Now, without
searching it, I'd assume that's right,
but I don't
>> I think he got seven because I I think I
saw it in an FPL context the other day.
But did he did he get 30 last year or 20
something?
>> Uh over 30 last year.
>> So, I mean, if you're talking league, he
got seven goals in the league, all
competitions, because he got three in
the Champions League. He got he did
score bang on 10, but still it wasn't a
bad Well, I think it's a very good shot
actually.
>> Um considering George, you went with
Everton. less than five home wins in the
new stadium. Um I assume considering
their form they got more than that.
Uh but I'd have to again I'd have to
check but you did also say Nuno the
first manager to be sacked.
>> Did that was that was that true that
September was
>> Yeah. Yeah. Um I see Sharky as well
mentioning that about Mane again that
I'm talking Premier League Sharky um is
in like the modern Premier League. Uh
Jimmy Mullen yet is the youngest player
uh to have played for Wolves I believe
still. That is still the fact anyway. Um
yeah, Everton in terms of home wins. I
mean again I don't know if anyone could
fact check this for us but I would I
would assume it's right Jord
>> as in like they well they definitely
they definitely beat Chelsea because I
was there for that one.
>> So they beat Chelsea beat Bryant at
home, beat Palace at home, beat Fulham
at home, beat Forest at home.
Oh. Oh. Oh, no. I'm uh
Why is there a break there?
>> Oh, no. They draw with City.
>> I think they got I think they only got
six. I think they only got six to be
fair. Six or seven. So, it wasn't far.
It wasn't bad.
>> Yeah. I've just got I've got a breakdown
of it at home. They won six, drew five,
lost eight.
>> Yeah.
>> So, it wasn't horrendous, but I thought
they were going to have a Spurs style
home form.
>> But,
>> yeah.
>> I don't think I don't think it's
horrendous.
>> No, it's not an awful shot. It'll be
well, we'll get work get working and
thinking of your hot takes um for next
season throughout the summer because
it's always an interesting one. Anyway,
um I can't I can't remember some of the
best ones that we've had. Matt always
used to love Everton, didn't they? So,
Matt used to go with the the positive
Everton shouts, but um yeah, not bad,
lads. Not bad considering how bad the
season's been. I mean, some of the ones
factually correct, some not so good, but
yeah, not not too far away. Um, let's
talk about some of the news that we've
been having over the last week or so,
lads. So, considering how poor the
season's been, how negative uh, it
finished. There has been some positive
news off the field for Wolves. Um, we
talked about Rahim as we already spoke
about him, I guess, in the last podcast,
but Kieran Trippia apparently set to
sign for Wolves. Um, not completely done
yet, but said to be in agreement in
principle, needs to complete his
medicals and so on. Finn, this is
positive news. I think I think when this
came out, I don't think anyone's
expecting it to actually come to
fruition, but um
>> yeah, Trips looks like he's going to be
a new Walls player.
>> Yeah, well they say good news comes in
threes and it was Andre, him links and
uh and Trippia.
>> Um slightly convenient that they all
come out before the season ticket
deadline and that seemed to work quite
well because it's good numbers. Um
>> good numbers. But yeah, once it's been
here we go. I mean that here we go seems
to be getting less and less um
>> like locked in these days. We've had a
couple, haven't we? I think was Pedro
Leman not here we go to Chelsea.
>> Yeah, he we had a I think we had a Huey
go for Mark Pubil as well.
>> Do we? Yeah, of course we did. Yeah. And
he's playing at center
as well for him.
>> Yeah.
>> Well, so maybe don't count your chickens
yet. But if it does go through,
>> um yeah, really solid. I think it's it's
more the leadership thing than anything,
isn't it? And then when you you see the
Newcastle fans reaction, it's if he can
stay fit, then he's going to be one hell
of an asset. And it could be one of
those where he gets injured in the
second game and is out for the season
and then we go, what was the point in
that? I'm sure he's on a decent whack to
to choose wolves over options in Saudi
or even lower Prem um or promoted teams
or whoever was in for him. It seemed
like there was quite a few. So um it
could go really well. It could go really
poorly. Um, but overall I think it's all
things considered I think it's a um a
really smart move because leadership's
been one of the things this season
that's been it's just there's nothing
there is that the armband's been passed
around more than we're live aren't we?
I'll stop there. Um and uh uh and it's
wingers leadership um and I'm sure both
of those will be addressed um in the
next few weeks as well. Well in the next
few months now as well. So yeah positive
start. um the Himosz links. We can talk
about them. I'm fine to the whole
podcast if we need to. Still got him up
on the wall. Um so yeah, I I've been
trying to dig with with certain people.
I've only had positive whispers, but
nothing concrete yet. So
>> I thought you wearing a Fulham shirt
then, but see you haven't got the the
Fulham logo on there. I thought it was
going to be
>> So he's gone as well. Any Marco Silva's
gone today?
>> Yeah. Well, my concern is that I saw him
and linked with Benfica the other day
and Marco Silva has now gone to Benfica.
So, it does concern me a little bit if
they can knock him back on the door for
for Ral. But, uh, we can we can talk
about him a little bit more in a second.
George, I think, uh, Finn's right. I
think the right back area has been so
poor for Wolves in terms of the lack of
consistency. We have lacked leaders. Um,
this is a positive move. Look, I he's
not going to play 46 games across the
season for Wolves, but it's uh, in terms
of the caliber of player that we're
getting, um, it's good news. My only
concern possibly is that why has he said
yes so quickly? He has so much control
as a free agent and it's like it's not
officially not even open. So Wolves must
be offering him a a serious project or a
serious pay packet. Of course,
>> I think it's probably both. I think in
terms of Kieran Triier, I I genuinely
think like this is this is probably the
best sort best sort of signing we could
we could make. I I genuinely think that
I think these are the sort of players
that and again I know I know he wasn't a
free agent last summer but these are the
type of signs we should have been doing
12 months ago when you talk about
leaders when you talk about
>> um types of players with Premier League
experience that we needed desperately
last summer
>> Kieran Trippia would have been high on
that list last season um the fact that
we've gone down into the Championship
and he wants to come again it might be
money it could be multiple factors I
think really like the only club I
thought that we'd you know struggle to
compete with him on would have been
Burnley because he's got obviously come
through the academy there but obviously
Carl Walker's blocked him there. Carl
Walker's got um another year left on his
deal.
>> Um and I think we've acted early. I I
think I think we've spoken to him in a
way of I think we've told him he's going
to have the armband. I think it's a
project. I think the fact that he's
moving from Newcastle a little bit
further down south albeit, you know, it
it's close to his Lancasher links and
all that sort of stuff for family and
and all that sort of those sort of
things that'll come into it when he's,
you know, 34. Um, I genuinely believe
that this is a statement signing and I
genuinely believe even if he comes in
and starts 30 games for us, it's typical
to what I said about the rail links on
the last pod. Do I think he's going to
come in and play 46 games of a
Championship season? No. But if he comes
in and plays 30 35, it's an unbelievable
sign. And, you know, even if we're
giving him, you know, 40, 50 grand a
week, the fact he's a free agent,
there's nothing stopping us giving him 5
million quid as a signing on fee of
four. And I'm I'm speculating here,
right? I don't know what the figures
are, nor would nor would I, but um that
would be that would be favorable as
well. And I just think Trippy might look
at it as a little bit like the Newcastle
thing. when he went into Newcastle, they
were 19th. They were struggling and he
turned that club around. Not not on
himself, but he was sort of the main
pillar that started um the trajectory of
that football club into what it is now.
I know they didn't have a good season
last year, but he was a big catalyst of
getting them up the league, winning them
trophies, getting him into Europe. And I
think if he's here for two years,
we'll be back in the Premier League at
the first time of asking. And I think
he'll be he'll be playing for Premier
League football for us next year. in a
game probably deputizing between 20 and
25 games a season.
>> Yeah, Harry, we had a chat, we got a
video coming out later this week. Um, in
regards to Trippier and like George
said, you squeeze 30, 35 games at least
out of him, but then you probably have
the understudy of Pedro Lemur. It's
almost the perfect tutor for somebody
like that. Lemur needs game time in some
capacity. So maybe there is a universe
where he does go out on loan, but I
think he'll certainly get minutes. he
plays second fiddle to Trippia who could
be a good mentor for him that could be a
really positive move for for him as a
player as well.
>> Yeah, I think if I was Pedro Leman
looking at it as well and I was looking
up to the the players in the Wolves team
next season and I'm seeing Kieran
Trippier come in. Yeah, it might be a
bit of a a damper in the fact that he
might not get as many games as he may or
may not like but he's learning off a
real a real pro. I mean, Trip's played
how many games in Champions League this
season? You know, he's played Premier
League for most most of this season as
well when he when he can fit. So, if
Trippia can stay fit, and I'm sure that
he will be able to do that, um, we
could, like George said, get 30 games
out of him, 35 games out of him, and
he's a real asset to Wolves, not only on
the pitch, but off the pitch as well. We
all know he'll probably be the skipper.
He should be the skipper if he comes in.
Um, that's the type of player that we've
we've been needing for a while now. And
I feel we lost it when we got rid of
Dawson. You know, we have we have those
kind of focal points in the team who
lads can get around when times are tough
or they've got a good head on them that
are able to just kind of bring you up
and take you forward. And I think Dors
is one of those players and trips falls
into that category for me. So yeah, I'm
uh I'm looking forward to it if it
happens. Um but at the same time
in terms of an injury type type of
thing, if he gets injured and and the
next person is Pedro Lemur, he's got a
lot to step up to.
>> Yeah, definitely. Finn, uh Mold's asked,
do we have any concerns about Trippier
off the pitch?
>> See, I was just thinking to to play
devil's advocate on going, "All right,
finally some leadership." I mean, yeah,
there's been a few things in the in the
press, hasn't there? Um, I mean, the
gambling one was just that seemed pretty
innocent. Was that just he'd sent to his
mates that he was signing for Atletico?
>> Maybe that's why he's had to do it
early. He couldn't keep his mouth shut
by Wolves.
>> Um, and then yeah, there's been other
things off the pitch, but overall, I
mean, yeah, on the pitch at the very
least, which is I suppose off the pitch
counts as well, but a large percentage
of it on the pitch, he's going to be a
mouth, which we don't have. um some
talking players through it. I think
probably since Kilmano needed they were
more lead by example than than lead with
their voice. And I don't know whether
Trippy's going to come more into the you
know the system that's sort of been
played in those last few games. Would he
drop in almost as like a third center
back with Rodrigo further ahead?
>> He probably could do that. Um it might
suit him more at his age as well. I
don't know. But I'm excited either way.
Um yeah, we'll we'll ignore that for now
and then unless something comes up and
then um we can say well that was always
going to happen. But he's he's getting
old now. He might not have time for all
that stuff.
>> U Jordan, we mentioned earlier about Ral
him and there's obviously there's been
whispers about him as well. That one
might be um a more sort of drawn out
process in regards to the potential sign
of Ral because I think there will be
more suitors. There'll probably be more
money on the table. Of course, there uh
there's going to be more money um more
money involved, I think, to sign him and
he's going to the World Cup as well. Do
you think there is a world where Ral
Gimenez comes back to Molyneu next
season?
>> I think so. I I think again I think if
we if we signing the right profile of
player to attract Ra to a project 100%.
It seems like from a family perspective
um and again I'm only going from um
things you see on social media from from
his wife on Instagram. They still got
fond connections to the area. They're
still very much fondly of Wolverampton.
So, I think he's at a part of his career
now as well where again he could get one
last final big payday if he wanted to go
to Saudi or he wanted to to go and do
this sort of stuff, even go back and
play in Mexico maybe. But I think from
like an affinity perspective, I think
there'll be I think there'll be clubs
that can offer more money than Wolves in
the Championship. But I think from a
purely emotional play, I think we said
it on the last podcast, right? think he
he feel I think Ral thinks he's got
unfinished business at Wolves.
I really do. So, it's that thing of um
if he can come back and uh
if he can if he can come back and finish
that business, i.e. get us back into the
Premier League, I think he'll feel
satisfied.
>> Yeah. This is why we don't go live on
YouTube as well because we all end up
reading the comments in the chat. It
throws us off guard a little bit. Um
>> I've just closed in my
>> um Harry George right obviously you've
got Armstrong still there which you
spoke about you still got Tyu who you
probably would have to move on if you
bring in bring in Rin as well but that's
the sort of signing where it will give
everybody at the football club a lift
anyway because he does have that sort of
cult hero status um at the football club
but again similar to Trippier there'll
be other players younger players looking
at the football club and when walls are
talking to them. They're saying, "Yeah,
get me involved." You know, you're
playing with some players that have
played at the top stage, you know, made
international caps. The P R if he joins
would have just played at the World Cup.
You know, that that's that's a huge
signal of intent and a huge sort of
drawing factor, I think, for other
players as well.
>> Yeah, definitely. I mean, the players
looking at Wolverampton wonders this
season, a lot of them would have been
saying, "Don't get me anywhere near that
football club." And then for us to then
go down and still be able to attract
this caliber of player
regardless of how old they are is a
massive thing for us and a massive boost
for the club as a whole. Um and if they
do manage to pull those those two off,
the ones that we've been speaking about
the most at the moment, um then it's a
massive plus point before we've even
kicked the ball for next season. So
yeah, I'm I'm looking forward to see if
if it happens. Um it's down to R at the
end of the day. I mean he's out of
contract. So he can choose wherever he
wants to go and choose him to come back
to Wolves in the championship or or be a
part of a a country abroad then good
luck to him. But hopefully he's in a
Wolf shirt next season and then that
will come with its own attraction for
other players as well. So yeah, I'm I'm
quietly excited about Wolves next
season. I'm not getting too ahead of
myself because it all could come
crashing down in the space of three
hours. So, who knows? Yeah, it's very
very very early days still. I mean, um a
couple of people there mentioning Ellie
Sims in the comments section as well. Um
like uh Kevin says here, Ral will be
fantastic, but we need someone with pace
up front. Adam Armstrong has got that
turn of pace, but I don't think we've
seen it enough. I think he can get away
with that sort of pace thing as well
when you've got quicker and you know
quality players out wide as well around
him and use them to to get yourself up
the pitch rather than your sort of your
focal point through the middle. Um but
yeah, Ellie Sims, Jordan James has been
linked as well probably both seem a
little bit of a stretch at present, but
again they're the sort of players where
you may have to wait until the back end
of August to sign. But the fact that
Wolsa all being well have already got
Trippier in. Hopefully we can sign two
or three players within the next four
weeks to, you know, for when the players
return to preseason training. That would
be uh that would be excellent if they
can do do so. Uh Finn, it's pretty
obvious now that Rob Edwards is going to
be sticking around. Um I know there have
been a few question marks over his
future sort of a few weeks ago. I think
the fact that he sat at the fans forum
and he was, you know, talked to fans and
answering questions showed to me that he
probably would be the man. Um the fact
that there's been no news already, I
think that that says something as well.
But as a whole, are you looking forward
to next season in the Championship? What
are you hoping and what you expecting
from Wolverampton wonders? I'm probably
going to ask you the same question
obviously on the preseason podcast um
within the next sort of two months as
well.
>> Yeah, it's it's one of those with Rob
Edwards where it could change very very
quickly. I think you don't pick up
points in the first few games and it
could be one of those where oh my god we
saw it wasn't going right. Why didn't we
give a new bloke a preseason? We've
wasted it. It's Rob's play did it. It
could be one of those or the middles
preseason started well. Well, obviously
the Luton one, he says there are other
circumstances going on there with the
stadium, but on the face of it, it was a
team with that sort of downwards
momentum and he couldn't stop that rot
and it and it carried on. Um, Watford, I
think you probably can't really go off
many managers records at Watford. A bit
of a basket case. So, there's there are
samples there. There's there's ways you
can make excuses and uh for some of
them. So, I think playoffs have got to
be an absolute minimum. I think those
those top two places, you're going to
have West Ham and Burnley thinking
they're entitled to them. You're going
to have us thinking we're entitled to
them. You're going to have teams like
Southampton. Now, I've seen Echart
staying. Yeah. Uh I was watching, it's
weird. I'm getting into like
championship content now. I'm like
watching stuff and there was they were
saying like the teams to watch that with
good momentum. It was Norwich,
>> Derby. Norwich,
>> Sheffield United was it? I saw we had a
comment from a from a Norwich fan as
well. So, there's a lot of teams.
Luckily, there are two more spaces to
accommodate two more teams in the
playoffs to to not be too annoyed. um
all season, although that's going to be
it's kind of a disadvantage to Wolves
because I'd back us to finish top six
and it's made the playoffs a bit more
convoluted. Um so yeah, I if we're not
in and around sixth in what October that
there could be trouble. Um that's
correct. Yes, I'll dust off the camera
if if that happens. Um but yeah, I I
don't know. It could go I always think
about Nuno's first game. It was against
Middlesbrough, wasn't it? And
>> yeah,
>> everyone wasn't sure. I remember the
preseason games. We got battered by
Shrewsbury and there was some strange
games and then that one Bonitini goal.
Um it seemed to then I think we'd have
done all right regardless but just that
positive momentum to get us going. Um
and one of us is going to be Lincoln
away first game of the season, isn't it?
It's going to West Ham, Burnley or
Wolves. Um it's just so happen to be
drawn like that for the Friday night. So
that would be a lovely start. Um but I
don't know. I I don't know. I I always
go back to Leicester's team this season
that got relegated and you go, "Oh,
Trippia, Andre did a well, there's no
chance we'll be anywhere near any
danger." And then I looked at
Leicester's team the back end of last
season. There's like Ricardo Pereira and
Deedi. Um basically like their Prem team
and they were awful and you just think
maybe it isn't it's not just the names,
it's the mood within the club and
thankfully who that does seem to be
changing. Um but part of my mind is
going it's all going to go wrong. But
there's early signs are that we are
turning the ship around and as you say
if there's players that can see a
positive momentum whereas with Leicester
it was down down with Wolves the last
few seasons it's been if you put our
league position on a graph and you're a
player looking to sign for us you go oh
no thanks that's going nowhere. So maybe
we can show people that we're we've sort
of hit the bottom and now we're going to
bounce back up. So yeah overall I'm
looking forward to it. Yeah, there's a
few people in the in the live chat here
still doubting Rob Edwards. And I think
it it's fair, George. I think I think
the concern for me was going into next
season with a manager where there's a
portion of the fan base that don't have
any faith in him. And I think really
he's got so much pressure on him to hit
the ground running, hasn't he? Like he
really really has to
win win games because if he goes a
couple of games into the season wall
still haven't got a win, he's in big
trouble, I think, isn't he?
Yeah, I genuinely don't think he'll be
here by November and that's because of
and again depending on how the window
goes that should be caveated with that
response but I feel like even if we're
sort of fourth, fifth, sixth, that ain't
good enough for Frozen. I think they're
going to put all the eggs in the basket
that we need to go up this season.
>> I feel like if we're even like five, six
points a drift of the top two, maybe
come that sort of October international
break, November international break, I
think they'll pull the trigger. I think
the reason why they haven't pulled the
trigger yet is very much around you know
what actually
well Jeff and the and the football team
at the time brought Rob in for next
season and maybe Nathan feels like he
owes it to Rob who you know who came in
at a very difficult time to give him a
chance and that's the reason why he took
the job in the first place to let him
let him do it. Now I hope I'm wrong. I
feel like if Rob Edwards is manager this
time next season when we're doing this
podcast, it's probably because we're
champions or we finish in the top two if
I'm want being honest with you. I just
feel like if we're not in and around
those automatics plots come like
November, I think I'll pull the trigger
early. I genuinely do.
>> Yeah, I I think so as well. Somebody
mentioned as well Harry in the chat like
and it probably isn't a healthy position
for the football club to be in that he
could win the first five and then lose a
sixth and then the pressure would be
straight back on. I think in the
Championship it's going to be like that
anyway. Um it's it's it's a horrible
league to be playing in. Um but I sort
of understand what George says as well.
That's why I was cautious when we got
relegated. It almost felt like we needed
that clean slate, but they're obviously
confident in in what's been happening
off the pitch. They're obviously
confident in their recruitment. And I
suppose they're showing that with the
likes of Kieran Trippier. But you know,
he's his main excuse at the moment is
that the playing squad is nowhere near
good enough. If you're bringing in
players of that quality, he hasn't got
that excuse anymore.
>> Yeah. And I think that's kind of his
last straw that he's got really because
like he's come out after most of the
games this season and said the playing
squad isn't good enough. And I've kind
of gone like, "Oh yeah, to be fair, he's
right."
>> Yeah,
>> they aren't good enough. But next
season, he's going to have the whole
preseason to himself. He's going to
bring in his players that he's wanted.
He's got to hit the ground running. And
not just hit the ground running, he's
got to continue that throughout the
season. it's all right winning your
first five or six games and then you
start to drop off a bit then what you
know you we're already talking about him
getting rid in one of the you know
international breaks and getting
somebody else in but I just don't I
don't think he's set up to to kind of
have a good season in terms of for Walls
fans next season already. Yeah,
>> we all, not all of us, there there are a
majority of people that are happy with
Rob Edwards and and you've been brought
in for the championship, so we'll see
how he does in the championship. Um,
I've not been in that in that crowd of
people, I've been kind of I want him out
now type of thing. Um,
but I over the past weeks and and we've
chatted about this a lot, like I have
kind of come to terms with the fact that
he will be here. So you kind of you've
got to give him the chance. Um but it
will be very very telling five or six
games into the season and if he's lost
them mind you is not going to be a very
nice place again. Um especially with in
terms of if Fosan are bringing in
players like Kieran Trippia and if we
get R in you know some of these players
that we've been touted with Jordan James
and other one you know and we're not
winning games of football there's a
serious issue there and that would kind
of run through the manager at that point
because he is had his team he's had his
way of setting up he's had his way of
playing and if it's still not working
then we've got a big issue. Yeah,
definitely. One of the areas on the
pitch that will probably be addressed,
well, we think it will be addressed
anyway, is going to be the goalkeepers.
We already knew, I mean, that has been
an article out today by Talk Sport and
Liam Keane as well about Jose uh more
than likely moving on. Um, and then
goalkeeper situation. I think there's a
going to be a new 13 goalkeeper, I would
assume. Um George there was obviously
we've seen John Rudy uh released today
confirmed by Newcastle United as well.
Um the chance you reckon he could come
back although I think Bentley may or may
not stick around with John Rudy and
aging John Rudy.
>> Well yeah and like I say we spoke about
it off air. I text you about saying
I've been told that we're in talks with
John Rudy for a season. Whether that's
third choice, second choice. I
definitely don't think it's first
choice. Um well hope it's not first
choice. Um but yeah and then that
article comes out there's no smoke
without fire. So whether whether those
talks are happening or not at the moment
who knows right like I say led to
believe that is what's going on. But
again another one though I think from a
if you're bringing him in from a from a
perspective of leaders being here done
it in terms of at Wolves winning at
Wolves as well he probably isn't a bad
signing when you're talking about as a
third choice keeper right. um as someone
who can who's a leader and I think he's
from down south originally and his
family are down south so it's one of
those things where um again that move
from Newcastle coming back to the
Midlands might be better from a family
perspective and I I might be wrong in
thinking I think he's was his is his son
in one is his son in one of themies
locally as well or was
>> uh he was in an academy I can't think
>> his son come out once to train with them
before the before the game Yeah.
Not sure if he's in the Wolves Academy
or another academy, but I'm not sure.
>> He's at He's at Norwich now. He's at
Norwich Academy now. No, I think he's
always been at Norwich to be fair. I say
just he's being released at the end of
this season.
>> Oh, there you go.
>> There was another RD, wasn't there? But
it wasn't a Wolves, but
>> Oh, yeah. Not not that Ry definitely was
like his young Yeah, it wasn't Jack.
Jack Ruddy, wasn't it? The Scottish
keeper.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Well, weirdly John Ruddy's son is
also called Jack Ruddy. I think that's
why a little bit confusing. Yeah.
>> Yeah. That was Jack Rudy. He's 28 now
playing for B well last time he was
playing was Bones United. Uh which is a
club in Scotland. So his career is just
completely gone. Unfortunately, one of
those players that ended up out on loan
at FC Jir back in the day. If you know,
you know.
>> Oh my god, what a throwback.
>> I know. Um Harry Anthony Patterson, one
of the goalkeepers mentioned over the
last 24 hours or so. Somebody that you
would take maybe or you want would you
prefer somebody else? Um,
you know, in terms of championship
goalies, I think he's a good option. Uh,
he had a bit of a resurgence at Mu
second half of the season. Um, and he's
been touted as a brilliant shots
stopper. Um, I can see that in him. Uh,
I I haven't watched a major amount of
him as a whole. Uh, he wouldn't be my
first choice goal goalkeeper in terms of
who I would want in. Um it would be
Donnaruma if possible but
uh but like uh the Stoke goalie is it
Hansen
>> goalie like
>> he's on a new deal there so I always
>> I know I've seen that but he would be he
would be my first choice he's been my
first choice for a while even in the the
Prem I thought he he'd be a good shout
for us but yeah but I watched I've
watched a little bit of him and yeah I'd
be happy with that going into that
season I'd be happy with him him being
brought in. Uh but it doesn't really
matter who he get in goal. It's who's in
front of him to help him really at the
same time. So it's it would be a good
start though. I think bedding in some
serious championship quality players. I
think that's what we also need to do.
It's good having the likes of Trippier
come in and you know R if you came in
and all those types of players but we
need some championship ready players as
well I think.
>> Yeah. Let's talk about quickly um before
we finish off with the questions. The
shirt, it's set to be released we
believe on Friday at some point and of
course it's going to be the 150th
anniversary shirt um from the football
club. As far as well, we saw the sleeve
sponsor released in Wolf competitions
last week. As far as I'm aware,
Midnight, the online gambling company
are set to be the front of shirt sponsor
for Wolves. um as well. Um the one
benefit of this fin is that they're
pumping absolutely loads of money into
social media, so we may get paid in some
capacity, but it is another betting
company on the on the front of the
shirt. Any thoughts uh ahead of the
shirt release on Friday?
>> Yeah, it's hard to make a traditional
like anniversary shirt look sort of
classy. I think with
>> it doesn't matter if it's a gambling
sponsor, any sponsor on a
>> No. Yeah. Unless unless it's Doritos or
something.
>> Yeah, true. Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. It's tricky. Um but obviously if
if they are looking to to sponsor social
media channels, I think they're a great
choice for the front of the shirt. And
so
um but no, yeah, with the sleeve one, I
think I said in our chat, didn't I when
I did the stadium alike this year that
Wolf competitions was plastered
everywhere and I pointed out to my dad
going, "Oh, that'd be a good one for
wolves to get involved with." Are they
literally just like is it what it does
on the tin? like comp just competition
>> raffle like you pay Yeah. You just pay
like a raffle thing. You pay for
tickets.
>> They've got an iPhone.
>> I suppose it's only sleeve is
>> um but yeah, it's a bit like the W8,
isn't it? Everyone goes, "Oh, look. It
looks like a W and you've got the Wolf
on there." Um and then the Midnight One,
I had heard of them. Do they sponsor
someone else?
>> Chef United,
>> is it? It definitely rang a bell. Um,
and yeah, I'll reserve judgment, but
very positive just in case they do get
in contact with you, Dave.
>> The the logo is fairly clean. I think
George I think everybody loves a shirt
without a sponsor anyway. And I think
part a lot of us are probably half
expecting like a traditional looking kit
uh come on Friday. Um, but yeah, I mean
in an ideal world, if Wolves can offer a
sponsorless version, I think it's a
win-win for them. Yeah, I think the club
will well, if the club have got anything
about him, I think they will probably
release a sponsorless version or even
play the first game of the season
without sponsor on it and almost make
that like a limited edition version of
of the kit. I would like to think that
that's something they're thinking about,
but again, this is Frozen. This is sudo.
anything for a pound note and it could
even be stipulations within sort of the
the agreement with Midnight if that's
who it's going to be to say no you've
got to have it on all the training kit
all the home kit all the way kits as
well so it depends commercially what's
been agreed there but I would like to
think there would be an option where you
can buy um the anniversary shirt without
a sponsor um because I think that would
be quite authentic in a way and again
not saying it's going to ruin a shirt
with a sponsor but you know the meaning
behind the You know, you'd like to think
that, you know, if you if basically if
you offer me a version with Midnight or
without it for that one shirt, I'm going
to take the no sponsor 100%.
>> But if Midnight want to sponsor us, then
I'll wear wear whatever they want.
>> I'll get a Midnight tattoo across your
chest here.
>> Yeah. Um, we'll move on to the questions
now. If anyone in the um in the chat on
live chat on YouTube wants to get
involved, feel free to do so. We'll go
over to the questions that we had on
Twitter. Uh do a quick fire one on this
one. We mentioned it earlier, but super
grand Christine, she says, "Is it cenor
or no senor?" Arie, what you thinking?
>> Seenor
like it.
>> That's all I want.
>> Bring him back.
>> There we go. He's a seat. Go on, Finn.
Full House
>> second. No, I um
>> do you know you know that um I've seen
Trippy's being added to the like the Rio
Ferdinand at QPR and all that.
>> Yeah. And then I'm like got Sack Puntas
in 2026 and people start flinging that
at me. Um but no, yeah, obviously a C
see till I die.
>> So the content coming back if he rejoins
for the
>> I think it'd be silly not to. At least
the very start. To be fair, when he
left, I had a video um of every single
sacrifice ever and just never released
it. So, I think if he did come back,
that'd be a good excuse to put that back
out. We live the old days. I think I'll
cringe a little bit, but we'll get it
out there.
>> Uh Amar's music show. Do you think
there's a realistic chance that we will
start next season with a stronger squad
than the than the start of this season?
If so, shows how ambitious we are for
next season or how crap the squad was
this year. Um it's a good question,
Harry. I think he's he's pro could
possibly be right. I think in terms of
caliber and the talent that we have in
the squad, Wolves may have a stronger
squad at the start of the Championship
season.
>> You could put us four in the
championship team in the Premier League.
Yeah, definitely. I definitely think if
you put the two teams up against each
other, the Championship squad, if Fos
are walking the walk, then um it would
definitely be better than the Premier
League team that we had at the start of
this season. Uh, no, no doubt about
that. I can already think of two
positions from the rumored ones are
happening that ultimately getting over
them anyway. So, so yeah, I definitely
think if they continue the way that
they're talking about continuing, then
yes, mate, we definitely will have a
better team.
>> Yeah, no problem. George, I assume
you're in agreement with that as well.
>> 100%. I think if if it was weaker than
the Premier League squad, we might be
doing a double dip. um which wouldn't be
nice to talk about. Um but even like you
say even on the Trippia one like you
know Trippier to Chicha is like going
from my jammer to Susan Boil in it.
>> So it's you know it's quite
>> respect he's in a new trim mate.
>> Yeah.
>> You might respect you.
>> Yeah.
It's been a tough summer. Um Sharky,
sorry I saw I saw you mention this. Has
uh it's Christian Prusser I assume
you're talking about. has he made any
changes to the academy yet? Um I mean it
was a to I said before I can't remember
what video I mentioned it on but it's
been a toxic place the academy over the
last 12 months or so of course losing
another player there but I think Wolves
are trying to get the the the right
things in place potentially some changes
with some of the staff there as well but
so are notable changes not yet but
obviously he's been in the job about two
months um so it'll be interesting to see
if anything you know you remember
recruitment over the last few is, you
know, Wolves heavily were recruiting for
the 21s and so on, especially under
Scott Cellers. I know he got a lot of
stick, but you know, we did bring in
some players. I'm not going to say
especially world beaters, but you know,
we did look to strengthen in that
department, so we may see that again.
Um, but, you know, we'll uh we'll wait
and see. Um, we we'll flick over to some
questions that are in the chat at the
moment. Thomas, is Tommy Doyle good
enough to start if we sign Jordan James?
Finn, I mean, I like Tommy Doyle. I I' I
want him to be part of the team this
season, but I think I think Jordan James
probably does start ahead of him. But I
there's possibly a place for both of
them. I'm just a bit concerned about a
Tommy Doyle
uh Andre too because I think you look at
you have the same issues as what we had
this season with Xiao Gomez and Andre.
>> Yeah, I I always think of the mix of the
the Nuno Championship side and you've
had Neves who was unbelievable on the
ball, but Seace could kick people
everywhere. Alfred and Dar, you could
chuck him in if you needed to turn that
up to 11 as well. And and we've always
had like a a Dendona when you've got
Neves and Matino, you've got to have
someone like that. And yeah, Andre Doyle
on the face of it like the quality there
should be great for the championship,
but in some games I think that would
really get exposed. So it's not to say
like we can have four or five
midfielders in the squad as well, so
it's horses for courses. And there'll be
some games where you could do Doyle and
Andre and they'll pass the team to death
and and will look unbelievable. But I I
haven't watched too much of Jordan James
to know how different he is to them two.
Was he a Blues? Because I was he a
Blues?
>> He was a Blues. Yeah, we were linked to
>> my mate raved about him who's a Blues
fan. Um I think you still want an
enforcer. He doesn't strike me as that
type from from what I've seen as him.
But then if you've got that as a four,
that's quite a complete midfield. Four
options. But equally, all of them are
going to want to be starting in the
championship, I'd imagine. So especially
Andre with with the the contract would
be silly with probably what we're paying
him not to. So yeah, it's a tricky one.
Um I don't know how it'll fall out.
There is a world in which Doyle leaves
on loan permanently. Um so we'll yeah I
don't know how that's going to go to be
honest and I don't know what would make
me happiest as in with the mix of that
midfield three four. I don't know what I
want to see almost. It's weird. You just
want a bit of everything, don't you? But
it's hard to do that.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Uh Neil, why are podcasts
for debate or one-sided opinions? I
would say they're for debate. Um, we
probably side of each other a bit too
much on here to be fair, but um, yeah,
they definitely are. Um,
>> we we can start that if you want. We can
kick off if it
>> just do a charity talking walls raw
rumble.
>> Um, Andy Gregory, any idea on the away
colors, the anniversary kits. Um,
obviously the home's going to be gold. I
don't know how true it is, but the
second and third kit, one's meant to be
white and one's meant to be black, but
again, I don't know how true.
>> That's nice. may may not want.
>> Why did we do last year blue and blue?
>> That
>> that way was that must have been
leftover material from the goalkeeper
kit to the year before. It must it must
have been I'm adamant.
>> Um so there were there was another
question in there some good questions on
the live chat as well. Um,
sorry. Um, Moldy, he says, "Do you think
Gary O'Neal would have got more points,
George, than um Rob Edwards did this
season?"
>> No,
that was nice. Uh, Maximus, right? Do
you think Tommy Doyle makes at least 15
starts or more and we finally start
scoring from set pieces, Harry?
>> Yeah, I I think so. It also depends on
who we sign I guess m really and whether
he actually does start games I suppose
but yeah if we sign nobody now then
100%.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Very true. Uh old golden
chat evening gent thank you their
question. Thanks for all the great
content this year. Uh no problem at all
mate no worries. Um
do you think Yan C is back? Uh, do you
think there's any genuine risk of
back-to-back relegations this season,
Finn?
>> Um, yeah. I suppose I'm the only one
that's slightly voiced it in the
podcast, I've probably been a little bit
too um wary about that. I don't know. Do
you guys feel any genuine sense of it?
Because I I do I think before the Andre
and Trippia news, I when I'm speaking
about, you know, you get the people you
haven't seen for a while, oh, what about
Wolves? And you're going, "Oh, yeah,
well, could be a double, get your money
on it, whatever." And I genuinely was
saying stuff like that. But now it feels
slightly less. But should should Andre
and Trippy tip that balance that much?
Maybe. It has made me feel a lot more
confident. But there's still that little
thing. I mean, I've seen it. We've all
seen it in our lifetime, haven't we?
We've seen Wolves double dip. It's not
too uncommon. I like on the football
anvil they call it the Pompy Highway.
It's good whenever there's a team like
in danger because of the their uh famous
fall and it's not Yeah. Luton,
Leicester, there are there are ones in
recent history. It's crazy that it can
happen. Do you think that the gulf
between Premier League and Championship
how that they can let that go again? I
think that's only getting it should
become more and more unlikely if you
know what I mean. And yet we're seeing
it happen quite a lot. But
>> I was going to say I just don't I just
don't see it with us.
>> I just I just don't I think the
comparisons to Leicester from fans. I
understand because we've done it before.
I understand why there's almost that
uh like scar tissue as it were about the
double dip and going down again. I just
feel like financially we're in a much
stronger position than Leicester were or
have been for many many years.
>> Luton were almost on that on that mad
trajectory of like riding the crest of a
wave and they were over they were
probably over succeeded in the
Championship, let alone in the Premier
League.
>> And I just think with us, you know,
Frozen have dropped the ball last few
years. I think they're the first to
admit it. And again, proof will be in
the pudding like you know what come out
of that fans forum. But I do genuinely
think they they realize the [ __ ] up
and ultimately they need to get this
asset back in the Premier League if they
ever want to sell it. So I think I
genuinely feel and again I'm not one to
be overly positive. It's usually Dave is
a positive one on on this podcast for
you. I just I genu I just genuinely
don't see a realm where we're not in and
around the playoffs as a bare bare
minimum.
>> Yeah. Um 123 North Street to be fair if
you listen to the podcast we all raised
our concerns about him as well and I
know you have just joined so I'll give
you the benefit of the doubt um we saw a
shiv who's asking about the rivalries
Harry it's not just west prom obviously
massive game at the black country derby
blue's going to be in there as well um
huge isn't it for for next season some
tasty games
>> massive and exciting as well I think
we've missed that massively in recent
years you saw it at the uh the FA Cup
game That day was absolutely
unbelievable. Um, and thankfully we won
that day. So, yeah, I'm looking forward
to kind of falling back in love with
football a little bit and kind of joy
that it brings me even like going to
these away days with, you know, the
anticipation of going to Blues knowing
that you could have a brick for your
coach window on the way there and, you
know, that that sort of thing. It is
just gets me a bit a bit excited for the
rest of the season. So yeah, it's great
to have football rivalries as well. We
don't have enough of them or enough good
ones in terms of Premier League
football. They're all very, you know,
let's all cuddle each other outside the
ground type of thing rather than uh
proper snot. So yeah, I'm looking
forward to that next season, mate.
>> I was going to say to add to that as
well, it's not just our It's not just
our derby. It's like West Ham Milwall.
Yeah. Norwich. You've got Sorry, I was
going to say Norwich. There you haven't.
You got Southampton Portsmouth. You've
got Cardiff Swansea.
>> Yeah.
>> You got Rexom in that mix as well with
all the Welsh teams as well. US Blues,
it's been played for a few years as
well.
>> Burnley as well.
>> Burnley. Honestly, I think
>> yeah, you know, talk about that being a
first game of the season candidate thing
about early that's going to be played
early. That is
>> Yeah% Bora Walls or Rob Edwards derby
and he'll be sacked by then anyway
probably.
Um, quickly go over to again quickfire
because we're running out of time. Drew
over on Twitter, how many matches in the
Championship before Wolves exceed the 20
points I had in the past Premier League
season. Finn, I think I'd be
disappointed if Wolves didn't get 20
points within the first what 12,
13 games, I'd say.
>> Yeah. So, what seven games 21? So,
yeah, you'd you'd like to think so. Um,
>> what gets you up now? was we did 99,
didn't we, to win and then did anyone
did commentary hit 100 this year?
>> I think they got 91
miles off it.
>> Who was it? Was it Burnley got 100 then
last year? I swear Burnley got 100.
>> Yeah, Burnley and Leads did, didn't
they? They came very close.
>> Yeah, I was just looking at the odds
saying about the odds go down. I can't
find them yet, but to be promoted were
second favorite. Um, so yeah,
>> got 95. I switch got 84.
>> Both up automatically. But is it who was
it that said you win your home games,
draw your away games, and you'll you'll
win the league. We can maybe go with
that to get promoted. I mean, that would
be an unbeaten season. Um, well, that's
four points every two games. So, yeah,
you you'd have your 20 Was it what was
the first thing? 20 points. So, you'd
get that.
>> Yeah. 20 points. Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. We'll go with Well, I mean, that
would be amazing because then you you
would be unbeaten, but um let's go for
Yeah. Your 12 probably a bit more
conservative. Let's go 12. That's the
That's the target, Rob.
>> Yeah. Uh Bobby Smith, the season we've
tried Rodrigo, Kiana Hoover, Matt Doati,
Chichua, Mosca, and Lemur in some
capacity at right back to varying
degrees of failure. Given that George,
did we underestimate how consistent
Nelson was?
>> Yeah, I think he was severely underrated
when he was here. I think people
compared to Tomo to Matt Dogy on
attacking output alone whereas I think
if you flipped it and looked at
defensive output tomato is a far
superior defender than Docky ever was
and that's not me bad dogy great servant
love you know loved everything he's done
for the club but um got stick first of
all for his attacking output and
secondly because he cost 37 million quid
and I've said it time and time again on
this podcast we we were in no position
at that time of our development as a
football club to be spending 37 million
quid on a right wing back in my opinion.
It could have been money that could have
been spent elsewhere, but
the the names on at least you've just
mentioned.
>> Yeah.
>> Could never lace Nelson to boots.
>> Yeah, I would I would agree with that as
well. I would agree. Um,
>> sure. Sorry Dave, that keeps going
through my brain with Trippia and we
probably won't play him as wing backs,
but Trippia is giving me Barry Douglas
vibes and Wol is kind of like as in the
Championship season. Wol strikes me as
like a dock. It's like we've flipped him
over in that he doesn't strike you as
the best player, but he seems to know
where the goal is in in the limited
time. Think did he get two against
Chelsea Wolf in that one game? You might
almost find himself. We did go with wing
back.
>> Yeah, I don't think we will. I don't
think we'll see Trippier at wing back,
but it's given me those those Nuno vibes
of you might swap them over, but the
roles that they play um would kind of be
the same. So, and Wolf might even stay.
You never know. But yeah, there's
interesting one to look out.
>> Well, guys, I believe that is all for
and and yeah, North Street just
mentioning the shirt once again, the old
gold pack shirt, uh which the the Walls
official kit drops on Friday. You don't
like uh you don't like it, obviously
you've got that as an option, um as well
instead. But um we'd like to um thank
you all for your support across this
season. Been a dreadful season
ultimately, but obviously we stuck with
us throughout the podcast. Anyone that's
been involved with Talking Walls, whe
it's the fans react, whe it's the the
writers on the website as well, first
proper year with content going out on
the website. So there some great people
that I speak to pretty much daily about
things all things Wolves and going on
the website as well. So big shout out to
them. Um, and obviously shout out to you
three boys, uh, chilling with me right
now. Uh, Finn, thanks for jumping on,
mate. Where can people find you if they
wish?
>> Just Finn is everywhere. Um, I wouldn't
bother unless Ralph signs, but if he
does, we may be back.
>> Perfect, mate. Thank you, George. Apart
from Susan Bo's DMs, where can people
find you?
>> Uh, well and truly in Susan B's DMs. Um,
Jord 7 on Twitter and Instagram.
>> Perfect, mate. Harry
>> uh talking walls Harry now on uh there
and Twitter now. So yeah, follow us over
there, man.
>> Yeah, perfect. If you're watching on
YouTube, there's still plenty of you in
the live chat, be sure to hit that like
button and subscribe. You will be able
